As for why I prefer the Renegade path, perhaps the difference can be summed up in two lines. "I don't have what you have" vs. "I do damned good work. Renegade Miranda is prouder of her gifts and puts herself down less often. Paragonning Miranda emphasizes what she has in common with others. Renegading her emphasizes what sets her apart. As someone who actively fears Miranda becoming something like the heroine of certain romance novels who discovers what she really wants isn't her high-powered career, but a husband and baby, I'm picking Renegade.
I can't really see Shepard and Miranda getting married or settling down in the traditional sense. They're both career people Shepard regardless of background has been with the Alliance most of his life, and Miranda's work as a Cerberus Agent is what's defined her since she fled her father. My personal Shepard at least held the belief that he was probably going to die serving the Alliance and I get the feeling that Cerberus doesn't offer a retirement plan.
To both of them 'a normal life' is what civilians lead, and I think that even if Shepard has the option to bring up settling down in ME3 Miranda will just tell him to focus on the task at hand. Whereas the "marriage, old age, and lots of little blue children" line fits the Liara romance, I can't see a similar one working with Miranda.
