I for one am looking forward to some squad banter between Miranda and the rest of the party in ME3:

The squad in pinned down by a Cerberus Atlas mech

Shepard: Cerberus has giant robots? How come we didn't have giant robots?

Miranda: The budget didn't leave much room for luxuries!

Shepard: Leather seating it important but a giant robot is considered a luxury?!

Miranda: (throwing a grenade) I tell you what, if you don't break this one you can have it!

That's brilliant! I'd love to see some banter like this.

I can't really see the Cerberus cheerleader defecting but I guess anything is possible. If there is an option to keep her, there should also be an option to put a bullet through her head.

My 100% Pro-Cerberus alternate femshep would kill her if she doesn't remain loyal to the cause.

Simply finding a cure would make me wonder what was the point of the whole thing. Normal pregnancy or creating a child like Miranda herself was created would allow for much more character development.
If it comes to that, I hope the cure will come at a high cost; for example, dealing with Mr. Lawson.

While it sounds nice to have a cure, I hope sorta hope there isn't, cuz that dossier becomes pointless. We all have our holy grail in life and that's hers. She has everything else, smarts, looks, Shep's attention. This is the one that got away.

PLUS: I totally agree with some1 earlier who suggested Shep and Miranda would probably be better off adopting....

"How about when in private with your love interest?"

"Of course. There always needs to be room for lighter and more intimate moments. It can't be all shooting and yelling orders!"

What are your thoughts on this? What do you think they (Miranda & Shepard) could talk about?

I'm happy to see this.  But I'm not sure what would be said, maybe about how much we missed Miri, or about her infertility.

Most of their convos will probably be about how Cerberus wants both of them dead. Depending on how you played ME-1 (or didn't play it at all, like me), they'll talk about how Ashley doesn't like Miranda having so much of Shep's trust and attention. They'll probably talk about how certain people got killed. And if we're lucky, we'll get some "action".

No, no no! One: Tali/Shep is a sterile union and mist be.. Two: FemShep exists. How would you propose a child be dealt with there? Three: It's unbearably cheesy. Four: A child with Liara would be an entirely different species from any other possible combination. Too many variables.

So what? it would be nice see different endings of game depends which romance you chose.. you pick tali= no kid you pick liara= smurf etc i think ii is matter of few cut scenes(fot tali liara miri etc.) and it is done. Developers said that number of possible endings will be astronomical.

Mass Effect takes place in a world where a person can be brought back from the dead with nothing more than a rib and three pounds of meat held together with a tendon than I'm sure curing infertility is a trivial matter.

Exactly. If they keep it it would seem for the sole purpose of hammering a point home I don't want to see. Also I've proposed several means how Miranda can have children with Shepard using technology that's proven to exist in the ME universe.

I still don't want it to actually happen in the game. I don't even want it explicitly mentioned in an epilogue (unless we get enough variations of them that there's something for everyone). Just that it's not excluded.

And the idea of a "miracle pregnancy" makes me puke. I will not cease to call it the "Cured by Shepard's super sperm" scenario to show how this will come across.

I think it might be up in the air about who is going to outlive who in that relationship. Remember Miranda was created with technology that is decades older than what they have now. And the tech they used to bring Shepard back has made him far stronger than he was before and if 4 billion dollars was pumped into his body I bet they wanted to make sure he lived as long as possible.

Here's the counterargument: they want him as a symbol around which humanity can rally. Once his task is done, his role as a symbol would be much enhanced by an early death. Also the technology that made Miranda was secret and cutting edge. A few decades apparently haven't been enough to make anyone go public with it, and technological advancement in secret has its limits.

I don't particularly wish an early death for Shepard, but I don''t care much how long Shepard will after the events of ME3, as long as Miranda and Shepard have a significant time together, maybe two decades or three. I also don't believe in the "longevity sucks because I'll leave my loved ones behind" trope. People change. People adapt. Should Shepard die early, I would wish Miranda to move on.

They could talk about wthat they want to do when this is all over. And what you said here should influence the epilogue!

Nah I loved SR1 ever since Eden Prime. It's partially because I don't feel like I am on a ship when moving around SR2. The badly placed cinematics and loading screens do a great job at removing that feel.

I agree about the loading screens. And I miss the airlock scene of the SR1.
But when I'm on the SR2, I feel that I'm on a ship. Not a military ship, but still a ship.

Sorry for dredging up an old topic, but I agree with Yannkee. Zero Punctuation's Yahtzee explained it quite well in this article. I prefer the design of the SR2, hopefully in Mass Effect 3 we'll see less loading screens and possibly the return of the Airlock. That would be the best of both worlds for me, perhaps it might be mentioned at Gamescom.

Thanks for that article. IMO the lack of connectivity and a seamless world is ME2's biggest shortcoming, as I explained in slightly different words in this old thread.

I'd like an SR2 with airlocks and a game without loading screens (I'd take elevators instead if they can't manage seamless loading) and without places that mysteriously become accessible (team member quarters) and vanish again (quest locations) for no better reason than that some game designer decided they aren't yet needed or aren't needed any more, respectively.

But this has become OT, so I'll add something about Miranda. The topic that started this excursion was Miranda on the Normandy in ME3. Well, what I feel is that I want to throw Kaidan or Ashley out if they're XO and replace them with Miranda, but after taking a mental step back I find that it would be better if Miranda had a role with more possible impact on the plot, something which makes use of her skills as an operative and a scientist.

I don't mind the idea of adoption, as long as I'm not forced to have children. I have a special love of families that aren't bound by blood. And I suspect Miranda doesn't care very much about her bloodline continuing. As for who outlives who, I don't know. I can't picture her life with Shepard, even with one that I like. Liara, yes, but not Miranda.

As a rule, I have that, too. In fact, Miranda is the first case of a fictional character I like where I care about fertility at all. We are at cross purposes here - I dislike the implication conveyed by the infertility that creating her was bad, and I like the potential for a less radical version of transhumanism I see in her existence. The more radical versions all deal in cybernetics, which for reasons I won't go into here I find problematic as a long-term prospect.

So in this, my usual stance that a "bloodline continuing" shouldn't matter so much is reversed because in this case, it clearly does matter.

What I would like to see--and I think we're agreed here--is for Miranda to stop putting herself down so much. No one can take credit for their genes, only what's done with them. She really did do something impressive with Lazarus. I want her to continue being impressive.

Maybe when they find Mirandas father (if that plays a role in the game) after he been delt with however it plays out they find another daughter he was growing and then they take her and raise her as thier own. idk just throwing stuff out there and seeing what sticks, That to me though seems kind of poetic.

Indeed we are agreed on that. Miranda's genetic engineering isn't a reason to be arrogant, but neither is it a reason to be self-deprecating. I don't think that Lazarus can be topped easily, but I want to do something impressive that has a big impact on the outcome of the war. Or the future of humanity. Or both.

I would love that scenario. Though I guess it would have squick potential for some people, since technically, any other daughter would still be a sister to Miranda.

I didnt think about it like that, But it is just Mr. Lawsons DNA with bits and pieces added right? so wouldnt it just be like if they made one out Miri any way? Thats how I would like it to play out though.

The idea doesn't squick me. I find it sweet, actually. And it's not like raising a younger sibling is unprecedented.

Liara and Garrus are the Miranda/Thane of ME3. And Liara was snapped like a twig. I foresee dying many times. Would like a little hint of something with Miranda, though it's hard to get too angry. Love Miranda, but at least I have my #2 and 3.
