Nah I loved SR1 ever since Eden Prime. It's partially because I don't feel like I am on a ship when moving around SR2. The badly placed cinematics and loading screens do a great job at removing that feel.
I agree about the loading screens. And I miss the airlock scene of the SR1.
But when I'm on the SR2, I feel that I'm on a ship. Not a military ship, but still a ship.
Sorry for dredging up an old topic, but I agree with Yannkee. Zero Punctuation's Yahtzee explained it quite well in this article. I prefer the design of the SR2, hopefully in Mass Effect 3 we'll see less loading screens and possibly the return of the Airlock. That would be the best of both worlds for me, perhaps it might be mentioned at Gamescom.
Thanks for that article. IMO the lack of connectivity and a seamless world is ME2's biggest shortcoming, as I explained in slightly different words in
this old thread.
I'd like an SR2 with airlocks and a game without loading screens (I'd take elevators instead if they can't manage seamless loading) and without places that mysteriously become accessible (team member quarters) and vanish again (quest locations) for no better reason than that some game designer decided they aren't yet needed or aren't needed any more, respectively.
But this has become OT, so I'll add something about Miranda. The topic that started this excursion was Miranda on the Normandy in ME3. Well, what I
feel is that I want to throw Kaidan or Ashley out if they're XO and replace them with Miranda, but after taking a mental step back I find that it would be better if Miranda had a role with more possible impact on the plot, something which makes use of her skills as an operative and a scientist.
