Aren't you heading to Gamescom? You could always ask the developers there, perhaps while waiting to try the demo?

I think she's important to the plot and it seems they want to focus on combat instead.

P.S. Gamescom will have a playable demo of ME3 right? When is Gamescom gonna go down? (I'm not attending though. It's on the other bloody side of the world.)

Just be strong, be persistent, keep asking the question over and over again to every dev, and when (they definitely will) they try to dodge the question, answer them with 'You didn't answer my question sir' or 'That's not a legit answer. I need actual answers, not terribly written dodges Mr *insert name here*'. Put the pressure on and they'll spill, believe me. Just don't let 'em dissuade you from asking more.
For extra legitimacy points, carry a phone around and pretend to be recording with it, and/or carry a camcorder around.

Wouldn't they be more willing to divulge a few snippets of info if they weren't being recorded? But yes, being well-dressed semi-professional looking would probably score points

I don't give a flying f**k how good the combat is, there'd better be lots of Miri in ME3 or else I'm going to find out which devs and BW higher-ups have pets, and then...heh heh heh...

Gamescom is this weekend. Starting today but only for other game devs, journalists and the like. I'll be there on Saturday, hopefully with some new information than what we already know.<_<

Indeed. Piling the pressure upon them is going to crack them very, very quickly. Good luck!

Honestly, it's the lack of info that is so reassuring; paradoxically, I know. They have to show Garrus and Liara regardless of how central they are to the plot of ME3 because they are canon to the Mass Effect series. Vega: rather unimportant. Miranda: with Cerberus' focus she will clearly be quite core to the game and so they'll keep those cards much closer to the chest and only play them much later if only teasing them in the very latest or launch trailers.
Combat will be in the forefront until the game is closer to launch--maybe just biding time and burning through changes and topics? Though, it will really depend on the main marketing campaign (e.g. ‘fight for the lost’ trailers). Earth seems to the story focus right now and with my best guess Miranda has not much connection to Earth; Cerberus, yes, but Bioware has been somewhat vague on motives or subplots not surprisingly.

Not quite. Garrus is about the least "canon" to the ME universe of all characters - he's the only one with two chances of not being in your team: you can avoid recruiting him in ME1 (as opposed to everyone else) *and* he can die in ME2. The canonical ones should be Liara, Ashley or Kaidan, Miranda and Jacob.THX-1137 wrote...

Apart from that, I see where you're coming from with your confidence, but it's exactly that Bioware is perfectly capable of sidelining characters with great potential if it suits them that makes me worry, just like they changed an unremarkable character's personality drastically and pushed her to the forefront for no better reason than that she's guaranteed to be alive. As much as I like the result of the latter, I fear that the former might happen to Miranda.
Oh I don't expect big plot revelations. Nor do I want that. But a little reassurance that Miranda will get a role appropriate to her potential might alleviate a lot of concerns. No one can convince me that would be a spoiler.Combat will be in the forefront until the game is closer to launch--maybe just biding time and burning through changes and topics? Because they were the more obvious squad mates...same with Garrus/Liara in ME3.
Liara b/c she has plot armor
Garrus seems to be a fan fave.
And they've built up our expectations to see those two.
And Mordin and Wrex cameos.
I think the fact that Miranda hasn't been shown in a cameo type role is good.
I think the secrecy involving her means she will have a plot important role in the game. She should, given she was with Cerberus and she was Shepard's XO and (unless you are misguided) your most useful resource in the upcoming war (barring Liara with her SB connections). It would be stupid for Shepard not to bring Miranda aboard and all her practical knowledge of the 'goings on' in the galaxy.

He should have become his own man in ME3 and been on his own instead of remaining the eternal sidekick. I would have preferred to have Gavorn as the token Turian instead.

Isn't Gavorn gay? That would've appeased some of the S/S people. Oi well, I am not too fond of Garrus anymore, I hope they've come up with something to spice him up. Still Kaidan is my favorite bromance.
I kinda wish they won't be making Cerberus pure evil. Those are boring, maybe Miri will be there to tip the scale to one way or the other. I am hoping for some interesting villains this time around. Not these.. ''we are evil, because we just are'' types, some that are able to ''play'' the game with Shepard and make it feel ''cool''.

Agreed. Things like the ultra-stupid presentation of the Akuze incident - which sounded more like evil for evil's sake than results-oriented ruthlessness - have to go.Melrache wrote...

But I also think that the Cerberus hate of some people is unreasonable, at least if you discount the books. It appears to me that once they were defined as an enemy in ME1, people couldn't get out of the mindset of having to be their enemies. In addition, most people don't appear to realize that if you take a step back and research some history, you'll likely find similar methods have been employed by countries you wouldn't think it of.

Having just found this old tweet I totally overlooked at the time, I cannot say I can share your optimism. How many "main characters" can ME3 have? Gods, how I hate Garrus and Tali. Poor Tali, she doesn't deserve it, but I can't help what I feel.

Sadly, I agree.
I like a lot Garrus, and I like Tali, but I really don't get how they could be "main characters" when they could be dead at the end of ME2.
In truth, I'm really confused about the way Bioware are developing the permanent/temporary squadmates thing, and I'm not sure if I'm going to like it, regardless the role of Miranda in the squad. Though I was expecting problem since I finished ME2. The squad was too big, and the SM put a lot of problem for ME3.

I could agree with that, but it's not Garrus (or Tali)'s fault that he'll be in the main squad for 3 games. If in ME3 the squad will be composed (like it seems) by Garrus, Tali, VS and Liara, and there'll not be some ME2 squadmates as permanent, it'll be Bioware's fault to focus on the ME squad.

ME2 had good characters, but with a squad of twelve characters (counting Kasumi and Zaeed) its hard to get to know all of them. I like Garrus and the whole 'Batman of Omega' plotline was interesting, but his character development has just sort of stalled out. The Dr. Saleon mission in ME1 put him on the path to becoming a Spectre and moving on with his life, ME2 completely wipes that development out.
The other thing about ME2 is that the plot really relied on Shepard to be the one who interacts with the crew, the lack of squad banter (being adressed in ME3) as seen in the Dragon Age games made each party member a self-contained unit, the crew never really showed any sign of cohesion up until the Collector Base mission.

For some reason, I think there still will be some ''WTF'' moments for some imports when they start ME3. Something not really adding up or making sense. One for many could be Miri, I can understand if she rejoins Cerberus or at least I would if it could somehow be said that her decision to rejoin was made after Arrival.
But since Arrival can be done prior to SM, I doubt it.
