Um... this isn't particularly news worthy imo since we knew that she'd have an important(-ish) role anyway.

But this could be interpreted as a confirm that she's a squadmate too (though we don't know if permanent). We knew that Miranda will have a important role, but we don't know if she'll be in the squad. This interview seemed to confirm that, though I'd prefer to wait some response from Bioware.

I thought we knew she'd be in the squad, just not whether she'd be a 'permanent' squad member.

No, we didn't. The only thing we knew was that Mac was reviewing several Miranda scenes, which could have been 1-2 that differed based on your choices.

Assuming he isn't confussing Miranda and Ash or something, I'd jump to the conclusion that she's permanent, just because I think the name of a temp is less likely to slip out.

From what I remember Bioware said that she'll be in ME3 with an important role, but they never said that she'll be a squadmate in ME3. Maybe I missed some info.

At the very least we now know she'll be a squadmate at a certain point, we can spend the whole day analyzing why Mr. Riccitiello mentioned her and only her by name and then said "the others" but for now we can at least have some piece of mind as to how close we're gonna interact with her.

Miranda is practically confirmed as squadmate by John Riccitiello in this interview!! :o

Hey says exactly: "Well Kinect support is mostly voice commands, so in Mass Effect you control a party, typically three and you typically play Commander Shepard and then you have Miranda and the other characters"

YES!

Wouldn't it be really neat if she were announced Friday? Not that I expect that.

Seriously guys, let's celebrate :wizard:

Just watched the interview, I don't think it's a confirmation that Miranda will be a squadmate in ME3. It was more of an explaination of how Mass Effect games work, especially the squadmates because of the kinect functionality.

I agree with Yankee. Riccitiello could have just said the first name that came to his head. I think we should wait for more solid confirmation before we start celebrating.

Seriously, if it wasn't a slip you wouldn't think the first names to come to his mind would be Liara or Garrus? think of the context, he thought of voice commands and Miranda come to his mind, I said before I wouldn't want to over-analyze the situation, but either he saw Miranda in the party while using voice commands or he actually played ME2 and Miranda is the one that stuck with him the most... the former is a little more believable.

Of course Miri came to his mind, the one with prettiest voice comes to mind first. *nods*

Oh well, I am still not convinced until they spell it out for me. I don't want to get all cheery about something, only to have devs back out, because ''we never said it laik dat''.

I wouldn't take it as a confirmation but it's something to hang on at least. Miranda fans haven't really been thrown many bones yet so I can understand why this would spark some excitement.

Agreed, This doesn't seem like confirmation. I'm not going to start celebrating yet.

I know it isn't confirmation, but this is the best case for genuine optimism we've had in months. I'm going to enjoy not being depressed for once.

So, of the other announced squaddies, who's going to take up your third spot.

I think it's Liara, sadly, she might be the only one who's alive.

Oh wait.. Shepard + Miri + Kaidan ,if you meant it like that. But Liara is on reserve. Garrus probably dies in my upcoming canon playthrough.

Kaidan (most of the time), I feel he and Miranda can have this synergy in and out of combat, also Liara.

from what we know so far, Kaidan or Garrus. I hope to see Legion on my squad, though (I already lost hope for Mordin).

Liara. I think they can have some very interesting banter back and forth. Especially if you 'manced them both.
