I agree with you. I want her on the team for a significant part of the game, but the really important thing it that she'll have a big role and there's enough interaction with her. I can't say I'll not be disappointed if her time on the team is short, but I can live with it more easily than with Miranda reduced to a foot soldier.ViSeirA wrote...
I think I'm one of the few who don't want her to be a permanent squadmate, it'd limit her contribution to the war, and as I said before, Miranda is much more than a foot soldier, let her join us for some time, help us take down Cerberus and then leave to do her thing, otherwise she's just reduced to a mere follower who has almost no hook points in the bigger picture like Garrus for instance.
Some of you may argue that she can make that contribution while on the Normandy and they're right but it won't give her the same air of independence that she'd have if she left, also a large role with her leaving may include The Illusive Woman scenario which I really hope comes to reality.

Well, to me it will be very simple. She's not in the squad = no ME3
Are you a Mass Effect fan?
Just seems a strange attitude to have if you are a fan of the series.
Isn't that a little bit harsh? Whilst I'd still play ME3 (eventually), I'll almost certainly cancel my CE if Miranda isn't a squad member...

I didn't mean to be harsh but I find the attitude suprising. Sure, we all have favourite characters but I don't think I'd not purchase a game because one of the characters has a reduced role.

Hey, why not? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/w00t.png[/smilie]
I
just don't want her to sit around doing nothing, The Illusive Woman,
taking over her father's business, creating a new pro-human
organization, or even founding a research company are all winning
scenarios in my book.

I like the idea of Miranda creating / leading a new organization after the war.
Definitely. Any of those would work.ViSeirA wrote...

So this is unadulterated good news for me. I spent the way home grinning like mad.![]()

I think the issue with that, at least potentially, is that a lot of those things would not have a large role in the actual game.
Conceptually, they might be important within the context of the imaginary universe, or maybe in an extended universe type of situation in novels and such, but you could make Miranda Galactic President if you wanted, and it might still lead to a fairly disappointing appearance in the game.

Not my first concern because I already romanced her in ME2, but Miranda not squadmate in ME3 certainly means : Miranda not available for new romance, therefore no s/s romance.
It's true their potential can't be fulfilled to the fullest in ME3, but it leaves us with a better imagination of what's to come for the character, maybe it's the last time we'll hear of Miranda therefore I want her to be doing something worthy of her, that can affect her role in ME3 in any number of ways, some of them bad but some of them offer better opportunities for her story.

And, come on guys, can we act like we got good news? I'm as big a pessimist as they come--my first post was about how she would be cameo'd--but I think we have reason for optimism.

Maybe, though I think it's actually been mentioned that some romance options in ME3 will be out-of-squad, so to speak.
That's not entirely true, there's noticable difference even to the unfamiliar. I'm familiar with them both extensively and Miranda's accent is indeed Australian.LexieTheT-Rexy wrote...
Australian accents and English accents are very close. It's hard to tell them apart if you're not used to hearing traditional English people speak, and traditional Australian people speak.
There's nothing stopping a family with the name Lawson from moving to Australia or even being part of the first fleet.LexieTheT-Rexy wrote...
I understand that they believe she is
of the same nationality since she is modeled after Yvonne, but, 'Lawson'
is a straight-forward English name.

I think it was a reference to characters who will be on the Normandy but not in the squad.

OK people, good news. I'm just back from attending the Mass Effect 3 panel on GamesCom.
Mike Gamble said that Miranda "will have a large role" in Mass Effect 3, but refused to say anything about her being a squadmate or not.

A thoughtful perspective but, on the other hand, all we are likely to experience of that story is what is depicted in the game, so I'm not sure that I'll be too excited about the awesome role she will be playing in fanfic or whatever.
