I do really hope Miri is a permanent squadmate in ME3, while at the same time having a role where she isn't completely overshadowed by Shepard.

To me she was not overshadowed by Shepard in ME2. But it depends of how you play your Shepard.
It will also depend of how they will write Shepard and his/her interaction with the other characters on the Normandy in ME3.
Being part of the Normandy crew is not a minor role, especially during the ME3 story. The Normandy won't be just a ship : it will be a leader ship of an alliance created to stop the biggest threat of the galaxy. And if I were Shepard, I would like to have the best squadmate possible with me : Miranda the first one.

I hope so...not sure who else would be capable of that role.

Yes. Miranda feels like my equal, someone I can respect. I'm working with her not just dragging her along.

She's my partner in this war. Someone I can confide in and trust.

When did I say she was overshadowed in ME2? I don't think she was either. I'm just saying I hope it is the same case in ME3. :P

I agree that even being allowed to serve with Shepard aboard the Normandy is a huge feat in itself.  I really want her to have as much relevance to the story in ME3 as she did in ME2.

Miranda was probably the only person on the ship I considered Shepard's equal; she was strong, confident, and knew what had to be done. I only hope that we get to see her as a SS love interest as well and believe there is plenty of room left for her to prove to be bisexual.

I think it very likely that Miranda has been on the run/in hiding since Shepard surrendered. If she resigned, TIM's going to want her head on a pike. If not, Cerberus has finally gone completely bad, and she'll be leaving ASAP. What I'm hoping is that she'll be actively rebelling against TIM.

As for XO, the problem with that is that the ship and crew are Alliance. Miranda was the enemy up until recently. Will anyone not part of the SM take orders from her?

Okay, so let's get opinions on one of the questions asked....

How do you think Miranda has spent the time between games?

Since she resigned Cerberus, I'm kind of hoping that she's trying to find some more info about that organization to help Shepard to take it down. I wouldn't be surprised if we came across Miranda while we're going after TIM.

This, but before I think she had to make sure that her sister is safe.

OK, they've said they cannot merge threads. Pretty sh*tty forum software if you ask me. Anyway, I'm going to repost my latest post there here:

This is based on one of jtav's suggestions:

It could be argued that Miranda has a greater potential out of Shepard's team. In Shepard's team, she'll never be more than a follower. A competetent one, but still a follower. Some of use - including me - would like her to have an impact on the main plot independently from Shepard. For instance, I'll take up jtav's suggestion: some time after we meet her and help her out in one of her self-appointed missions, she'll leave Shepard again (not without a nice romance scene if you romanced her) to collect the remaining members of the Lazarus cell and proceeds to unseat TIM or whoever was responsible for Cerberus working with the Reapers. Being successful, she'll take over and turn Cerberus resources to fighting the Reapers. Depending on whether we kept or destroyed the Collector base, she'll come back to Shepard near the endgame and presents him either with added conventional firepower or a nanotech suspension that protects against indoctrination.

If I think about it, I would actually prefer this scenario to having her permanently on the team. It would stilll be possible that we get several missions with her, but at the end she'll go to make her own contribution to the war before we meet her again in the end.

Of course "enough interaction with Miranda" is an absolute must in any case. Perhaps it's even possible that we can decide how Miranda will act: either she stays with Shepard's team for the rest of the game, or we'll let her go to do her own thing and come back near the endgame with a bang.

What do you think of this?

There's a couple of squadmates I would consider being Shepards equal, and Miri is on that list.

How would everyone else react to Miranda being in a reduced role in ME3?

I keep an open mind. I have a Shep save file who has her as romance, if she's written in a decent enough way I wouldn't have a problem her if her role was reduced.

Ieldra, I'd love the idea. Right now, she's "the woman who raised Shepard from the dead"/"Shepard's XO." She's defined by her relationship to Shepard. This makes her important in her own right and, paradoxically, a better match for Shepard. There's really nowhere for her to go but down on the Normandy. At best, she can stay at the same level.

And yes, interaction is a must.

I actually think she would be better served by not being a permanent squadmate.

Miranda is one of the few squadmates capable of being in a true position of leadership, just putting her in the ship doesn't make her justice imo.

She will definetely be involved in the Cerberus plot and i would love to see she running Cerberus afterwards, and of course, playing a big part in the final battle.

This. Definately this. Interation and more in depth in the romance side of things.

Yvonne Strahovski! Sarah Walker! Miranda Lawson! Either way you put it, she is my favorite! No doubt! And what is up with the ****** and the beginning saying "Miranda has over-sexualized outfits"?! Seriously?! Who doesn't like having a super hot counterpart while kicking butt and saving the world?!

Does anybody agree with me?

If they must make it so that Miranda isn't our XO in the game, then by god give her an important and awesome role! I think everyone here knows that she deserves it.

I'd say having her as XO would be a position of leadership, and a very important one considering the Normandy's role in the Reaper War.
