Sorry, new to the party but why is everyone talking about Miranda as an enemy? I don't want her as an enemy!

We don't either, we're just trying to hypothesize how she's going to fit into the third game considering she could, or could not have resigned from Cerberus, and how the organization is after your Shepard, along with the new news that indoctrination will serve a large part of the game.

Oh mmkay. I thought I might have missed something, and everyone talking about "Miranda the antagonist" was scaring me haha.

I feel like Shepard fighting indoctrination due to implants makes sense. Look at RenShep's eyes. Every other case of glowing eyes is due to Reaper tech. It makes sense that Shep has it too. It narratively justifies Shepard's death and resurrection. There were dozens of ways to estrange Shep and the Alliance. And yet, the writers chose death. It's silly if they use it as a simple reset button.

I agree with you that it's very likely that Reaper tech was involved in resurrecting Shepard, though I don't like much the idea. I fear this since I knew that Shepard was dead.
But I doubt that we're going to have news about it. I think we'll have to wait and see what happens in ME3.

Yeah, I am eager to find out how they'll play it, but I am not too optimistic on it being anything good. If it somehow turns Shepard into half human, I am not interested anymore. That's not who I want to play as. If I could play it from Miranda's perspective, I'd do it, but not from Shepard's.

Though, if an VI can take over Shepard that easily, even for a short period, then what can a Reaper do? I must admit that I cursed and sighed in disappointment, when I saw that happen to Shepard. Even, if it would turn out to be Miranda's ''fault'' in the end, I can't really blame the character. I just blame the writers.

If there's some decent way to play it, then I haven't found it yet. I guess I just have to trust the writers, but it truly seems like that the more I hear, the less likely I am to buy the game.

When you put it that way, it does make sense. I feel like Shepard will be too strong willed to be indoctrinated, especially if a bunch of Reapers can just roll up and completely distroy him/her. Maybe the process will happen to squadmates, but with that in mind, I doubt that Shep will be taken down that easily.

I think Miranda is relatively safe from being indoctrinated. VS and Liara not so much.

oh God - if it's something like Shepard has Reaper tech in him and the only way to stop the Reapers is that Shepard has to interface/join with the Reaper Failsafe Device and sacrifice himself

XD No, it was said that Cerberus will be all antagonist, and unable to be allied with in the third game. So therefore, we are wondering what her placement in the whole commotion will be. :D

I really hope not. I have a brother who'll play ME3, he'll be pissed if I break the CD.

I, personally, think she will if you romanced her. If you didn't, then I'm not exactly sure where you will sit with the beautiful operative.

I wouldn't be fair to people that play femshep to not have Miranda if they want.

I'm not saying she won't be there, I'm simply going off what was said in the Q&A yesterday about the 'unfinished business, especially if you romanced her'. I'm sure there will be options for her to work with Shepard, beside romance (i.e. you blew up the base and she left Cerberus). There are so many questions regarding her and her affliations that are so pertinent to the main story, that I'm sure that whatever we guess will be ultimately wrong when the actual game comes out. It's partly my fault, I started speculating on that possibility a few pages back. I hate the idea, obviously, but tend to adopt a "hope for the best, prepare for the worst" mentality at times. Sorry.

The Oriana angle brings some more humanity to her character ,even stronger characters get put in situations were they don't know what to do and worst have to ask for help .

You're right. I might not be thrilled, but it wouldn't drive me nuts either. Certainly not "throw the game in a vat of acid" territory in any event Posted Image

We never can. We all love The Perfect Miss Lawson very much.

But be careful with the pics though. The mods are very sensitive about this. We can't afford to have this thread locked.:(

To me I wouldn't mind setting up Miranda's appearance in ME3 in a manner similar to Tali's in ME2. Reintroduce her character in the first act, only to have her fully appear either later in the first act or at the start of the second.

From what we've seen so far the start of the game is Shepard's trial on Earth. It would make sense that Miranda would leave the Normandy before it reached Earth because a) Being a potential former member of a terrorist group isn't exactly the best thing to introduce to a millitary trial and B) Mr. Lawson is still on Earth, best to avoid his forces.

It could also set up the whole "dire consequences" aspect for people who "cheated" on the VS with Miranda. If we have the VS with us from the begining of the game, and given Shepard's seeming inabillity to talk to people about relationship problems unless he's being shot at (see Horizon or LoTSB) There's a good chance that things will be looking on the up and up with Shepard's relationship with the VS until Ms. Lawson returns...

Ash: Who's she?

Shepard: Miranda Lawson, she was my XO when we were preparing to go through the Omega-4 relay.

Ash: She's with Cerberus? I thought you were done with working for them!

Miranda: Actually, I don't work for Cerberus anymore. I thought Shepard would have told you that.

Shepard: I should go.

What makes it likely?  I think its pretty unlikely, knowing what TIM knows about Reaper indoctrination, that he would allow the person being brought back to fight them to be implanted with this dangerous tech. I mean if they pop up and start talking about "We are the harbinger of your salvation" kind of defeats the purpose of bringing them back.
