That's not exactly what she's saying.
She says something about the status of the team, for example if some of the crew are not loyal :
"Specialists won't do us any good if they're not focus on the mission. Some of the team are distracted. That could cost us."
Then Jacob says :
"We're just supposed to let the Collectors keep the crew ?"
And Miranda reply :
"That's exactly what we're supposed to do. The mission takes priority. The crew knew wthat when they signed on."

I don't called this being cold, but being intelligent.
Even my most Paragon Shepard who was in this situation agreed with Miranda and said :
"If we're going to end once and for all, we need every advantage we can get"

This diaolgue is different. When was this said?

It just depends of when you go find and test the IFF. Too soon : you still have recruitment or loyalty missions to perform, and the conversation after the capture of the crew will be different.

To be honest (though I may not do it) the crew getting captured earlier sounds more, natural dramatic, interrupting what you were doing. And now you must drop what you're doing, regardless of what it is, and safe them, with some squadmates dying. Some players do this for a more emotional story.

........I don't know about you, but I don't see Miri's LM and Romance as subplots. I see them as a key part of my Mass Effect story.

At the moment of the conversation, nobody knows what the collectors do with abducted humans and how long they could survive (they could also be already dead).  There is no point to start the suicide mission too early and jeopardize the mission. The best chance to save them, if they are still alive, is to have a full and competent team.

This is why I tend to wait til I completed all the other missions( recruitment, loyality, n DLC outside of Arrival) before I begin the IFF mission n yes, i realize i get Legion extremely late then( thus forcing his loyality mission to be last) but still that way I am given the ebst chance possible to keep the crew alive...though it would make things more frantic n compelling if I did ever do that mission earlier in the story...

Exactly. It'll be stupid to go on the SM with you're squad prepared. But in truth, all the things related with the SM and the chances of death (LM, ship upgrades, team specialist) were stupid. The game gave us a lot of hints about the things that we should do (Joker's opinion about the Normandy, TIM and Miranda and maybe Jacob that talked about preparing the squad, the longer files of certain squadmates when you had to choose them for certain roles in the SM). It was so easy that nobody died in my first playtrough.

I complete every side quest and LM before heading to acquire the Reaper IFF. I save Overlord, LOTSB, and Arrival for after the SM.

Who here is a completionist? (No One Left Behind, etc.)

My first playthrough I only had Jack die. I'm going to go through my current playthrough and try to get everyone through the suicide mission, but I don't know if that will work out. XD

I got No One Left Behind first try. It actually took more effort to organize the slaughter.

Same here except I do Overlord before SM. My Shep tells TIM to shove it so it seems weird to then go do a Cerberus mission and say "The Illusive Man can fire me if he doesn't like it." because my Shep already quit.

Other than that I 100% the game everytime before doing SM... then LotSB, then Arrival... in that order.

She did have blonde hair in concept art. BioWare probably would've kept it if her outfit wasn't white/black.

I don't know why they did that. That's railroading. BioWare made it seem like those DLC's were meant for those who didn't resign. Why didn't they have different dialog for those who resigned? The only one is when you speak to Hackett after Arrival. He says "I don't think this is a Cerberus Vessel anymore," or something similar.

Well, Overlord, along with everything but Arrival and LOTSB was designed to be done pre-SM.

The playthrough of death is over. Any suggestions for my next trick?

^^ Games tend to do that a lot.

My biggest peeve is after Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (SPOILER TO ANY WHO HAVEN'T PLAYED IT), when Lucy is slowly bleeding out and you're just having fun in the animus.

I am a completionist. I usually do every single mission. But that does not mean that nobody dies. You can do all loyalty missions and have Thane, Samara, Jack, Legion and Tali not loyal. Then you can kill Garrus by sending him into the vents, Grunt by using him as a second Fire Team leader and Zaeed by taking him and Miranda on the Long Walk and choosing Jack as biotic. Send Thane as escort and take Samara and Miranda with you to the final boss, and both Tali and Jack will die. Seven deaths with all LMs done. It takes some stupidity yes, but "complettionist" doesn't mean nobody dies - it just means you track down every single piece of content the game has to offer.

I think so yeah, I believe at least one trailer had her romance scene playing.  Not only that but she was on the cover of the ME2 box.  I'm sure her (white) outfit in game helped in that regard...

I'm thinking that they used her to attract new people into the franchise

It was all terribly dramatic. She resigned and died in my arms.

That's tragic....to be pulled up from certain death only to be killed by a falling beam. :(

I don't think I can do that. My "worst possible playthrough" has Miranda, Jacob and Jack alive. That was hard enough to do, I don't need a repeat.

I am curious about how Miranda's death will affect the plot. But I'm sure someone else will tell me so that I don't need to play it for myself.

That's what I'm here for. I'll tell you about the death, you tell me if it's worth making a Shep to romance her. Deal?

And yeah, I was not expecting her to be the one Shep pulled up. Yeow.

Deal. I think I know enough about what you expect to be able to judge. Only I'll probably get ME3 a few days after everyone else here, except those from Europe. Can't they put us first for a change? *grumble*

You'll still likely play ME3 before I do. I'm not even starting my canon runs until I receive my ME3 CE. Then I'll start all the way back at ME1.

I am hoping we get Miranda as a squad member and not a temp one. I liked having her as my 2nd in command and LI. Just hope Bioware allows us to continue the relationship with Miranda and get her as a squad member.

Question for fans who are more knowledgeable than I...

I've noticed that specific writers seem to be responsable for certain characters, do we know who is/was the main writer for Miranda?

Everyone loyal

Miranda: Fire team 1

Legion: Specailist

Garrus or Miranda : Fire team 2

Samara or Jack : Specialist

Escort:  Mordin.

End run: Take who you want.

Shepard and crew are back home in time for MNF , getting live and spilling drinks on the Citidal.

The  hardest part for me was  not  who to pick -  it  was  that  Stupid  Jack and Miranda fight and its resolution.  I had my whole SM team picked out  on the my second playthrough about who I wanted where.
