LOL there needs to be an easter egg where you go to the citadel with Jacob and you just go crazy and you see like a giant collage hangover style.

On a side note all of the specialist things are pretty easy just think about the back-strory and experience I used Garrus fire team 2 both times Tali as mechanic/speialist Samara as Biotic and Mordin and Miranda as my two final squad

If you have trouble with the giant mech go on side missions and store up a bunch of heavy ammo then take the m920 cain/ mini nuke and shoot him it takes down half of his health. biotics heavy pistols and snipers work best

Haha I'd love a big party on the Citadel with all the survivors after it's all over. Might be tough to mix that in with all the funerals and sentimental love interest scenes. But I hope they find a way.

Mind if I drop some fanfiction here? It's the, well, ENDING of a piece I'm writing about Shepard being unable to sleep, and his "night time" adventures on the Normandy. It may eventually be a collection of small snippets, but this is the ending (yeah, I'm the type to write that first), and since it is very Male Shep/Miranda romance centered, you folks might enjoy it.

(Shepard is a Colonist/War hero in this story, but pains were taken to not identify him any more than that, for sake of audience immersion)

"Miranda, this is..."
"When we were putting you back together," she explained, unsure of the right word to use to describe the process now that she and Shepard were more than team mates. Now that they were in love. "When we had you, I had a list of all of your personal possessions from your time on the Normandy, the original Normandy, and this was on the list. I thought it might be nice for you to have another."
Shepard nodded once, almost absent mindlessly. It was not that he wasn't paying attention to Miranda, just that he could not believe she had found the same music box.
"The original was destroyed when we were attacked. Yet another thing lost." he admitted.
There was something to the way he spoke that Shepard didn't recognize at first. Regret. He was not a blind or unaware man, and he had spent plenty of hours contemplating the people and things lost already in the fight with the Reapers. It was just that this was personal, more so even than his death.
"I can't believe you found another one."
"Well, it wasn't easy," Miranda said. Shepard smiled at the unspoken boast that her tone displayed. He turned to look her in the eyes, those endless eyes that had been his first memory back from death, and he laughed once. Miranda had told him she took no credit in her victories, that she couldn't, and that all she owned in this universe was her failures. He had told her that she had gifts, and that she could be proud of what she had done with them. Since that conversation, Miranda, who had always been full bravado, changed into something similar, but entirely different.
Self-hating arrogance became genuine confidence.
"I had to contact Ish to help me, and it was worth it, believe me, but now I owe him another favor." she continued, her eyes looking down at the music box, then back to Shepard. She smiled again. "You better make it up to me."
Shepard leaned over and kissed her gently on the cheek. He heard her take a breath as he did so, and felt her lips part as he sat back.
"I owe you," he said. It was an understatement, in his eyes.
"With interest." she joked.
Again, Shepard nodded, pulling the music box closer to his eyes so her could inspect it. He gestured with it briefly and asked "Do you mind?"
Miranda smiled and pulled a small object from her pocket.
"Be my guest," she offered, handing it to him.
It was a key. After all the memories he had with his, well, her music box, he had forgotten that it had a key. The fact that Miranda had retrieved that as well was even more impressive.
Slowly, Shepard put the key into the bottom of the box and turned it ever so gently. The clicks and grinds of the gears inside were instantly familiar, and after a moment, he let go, and just listened to the music play.
It was as haunting as he remembered. As a child, it had always made him either sad or nervous, as if the tune could be anything it wanted; melodramatic, intimidating, remorseful. He knew such emotions were somehow alternatively cliche or unheard of for a music box, but it was genuinely how he had felt as a child.
His throat caught, and his eyes felt wetter than they had for days.
"Miranda," he started.
The former Cerberus officer sat closer to him, down on the couch seat from the arm, and pressed her body to his arm as best she could.
"Did..." he started, before trailing off into thought for seemed like minutes.
"Did I ever tell you... about my sister?" he asked.
"No," she answered, turning to look at him intently. Shepard could not remove his gaze from the box, which continued to play, but he could see her in the corner of his eye. "I mean, I know you had family before the raid on Mindior, but I never really delved into specifics."
Shepard exhaled for a moment, as if he had held his breath for minutes. Perhaps he unknowingly had.
"Back before the Batarians hit, my sister had a music box, just like this one, and she took it with her. Everywhere." he laughed. "She got it from our grandmother, father's side, and she played it so often that it broke probably a dozen times. She would just cry and cry until I fixed it. I never could stand it for more than a couple of minutes."
Miranda smiled, and Shepard finally looked over at her fully. Her lips were parted slightly, and her eyes were fixated on him.
"When the Batarians attacked, after the killed my mother and father, I ran to the house to get her. She was upstairs, in her bedroom, under the bed, clutching it. Like she would be safe there. With it. I held onto her," he continued to explain, turning his eyes back to the music source. "As if she would be safer there.
"But it didn't matter. They came, and took her, took us. I mean, the slavers pulled her away from me, carried her away, and the last thing I saw before one of them hit me with their rifle was her crying and holding on to that box.
"When I woke up, we were together on their ship, locked in a cage smaller than my bed. She wasn't crying anymore, she just held onto the music box and rocked. I held her for as long as I could, but they came for her. Told me she was getting medical attention, that they'd kill her if I tried anything stupid. I believed them, not about helping her, but that they'd kill her if I tried to stop them.
"I never saw her again. I learned later they had sold her to some Batarian cook as a slave, and she died of disease two years later.
"But before she left, they took the box away, and threw it back into the cage. I hid it for a while, but then, at night," he paused. "Well, as close to night as you could get on a ship, at night, when I tried to sleep, all I could hear was the shouting and screaming from other prisoners. Every time I closed my eyes, the screaming just brought back images of my parents, burning on the ground.
"Eventually, I played the music box. And I fell asleep."
Miranda nodded, like she understood. Shepard knew she thought she did, and maybe she did, but he would have found it unfathomable, finding solace in a music box as cattle on an alien ship. Miranda reached over and took the music box and sat it down on table in front of them, and then pulled him closer to her. She leaned back, so that his head was resting on her chest, and they were both laying on the couch.
"I'm... so sorry you went through that." she said quietly.
Shepard wanted to tell her that he wasn't, that, while he regretted everything, he understood it had given him the drive to become the man, the warrior, the commander he was today. That if he hadn't felt that fear and anguish, his ability to sympathize and care would be lessened, and he might not fight as hard as he did for the safety of others. Commander Shepard was not arrogant, at least, not in his summation, but he understood he was fighting against an unthinkable enemy better than anyone else, and that he was winning, however momentarily, and in his logical mind he knew that his trials were the fuel for his quest.
But he didn't care.
He wanted to tell Miranda all of that, but the way her fingers glided over his cheeks, as she held him to her, he knew she already knew herself, and so he spoke with no bravado, with an absence of the bold leader they both understood him to be.
"So am I."
They lay there, together, for what felt like an eternity.
The music box continued to play.
And, finally, Commander Shepard fell asleep.

*****

"So, did he tell you, or did you ask?"
No sooner had Miranda left Shepard's quarters did the quirky voice snap her attention. Past the door and to the left leaned "Yeoman" Kelly Chambers, a smile on her face but a look in her eyes that said it was a serious question.
"Spying on the Commander?" Miranda asked. She tried her best to keep surprise out of her voice, and Kelly's reaction told her she had.
The "Yeoman" just didn't buy it.
"Look, I won't mince words with you, operative Lawson," she said, standing up straight from the wall. "We both know why I'm really on this ship, and it's more than just to play secretary. Now, I know people think I'm an airhead and that I'm touchy-feely, but I'm good at my job. I read the same reports you did; we both knew about the music box, it was in a psyche eval. And we both knew why.
"My question to you now," Kelly continued, moving closer to Miranda. "Did you ask? Or did he tell you?"
Miranda eyed Kelly carefully. She had once told Shepard she was good at reading people, and though she knew Chambers was skilled in people-watching too, it was apparent this was not about some clinical concern or professional issue.
This was Kelly being concerned for the man who saved her life from the Collectors.
With a short intake of breath, Miranda closed her eyes, smiled, and opened them again.
"He told me." she said.
"Good." Kelly said after a moment. She made her way to the elevator, and entered it when the doors opened. "For both of you."
Miranda smiled again as Kelly waited for her to enter the elevator as well, and as she waited for the doors to close to return to her office, Miranda shifted thoughtfully.
The doors closed.

I'm up for celebration of a successful mission.

Miranda: (handing Shepard a wine glass) Here.

Shepard: The last drink before the Admirals court-marshall me?

Miranda: No, this is the last of the Cerberus funding, I suppose that with our recent success a little celebration is in order.

Shepard: Celebration? Who are you and what have you done with my XO?

Miranda: (punches Shepard's shoulder playfully) I'm trying to lighten the mood you ass.

Aw, that's funny and sweet at the same time.

I've come to the unhappy conclusion that Liara/Miranda is my only possible cheating combo. Only one where I'd have difficulty making a decision. Just to make things interesting, I'm RP-ing a "Kaidan" Shepard.

That's an intriguing vignette, I enjoyed reading it! Is the music box a detail from somewhere in the lore of the game that I can't recall, or is it of your own invention?
Perhaps you can eventually post the rest of the tale, preferably each section in backwards order Image IPB

Something that caught my eye while looking through the achievements a second ago...I noticed that Miranda is labeled 'The Prodigal'...and Niket says in her loyalty mission that she has been taking her father's money for years. I wonder why they named her that, unless BioWare had some sort of plan to follow the Parable of the Prodigal Son and ultimately have her reunite with her father; though that seems completely unlikely considering her severe hatred for the man.

^^Interesting DLC material right there.
