I hate all this talk of "it's just a defence" and of how our hero will break it to get at the sweet girl hidden behind the shell. It's disgusting.
:sick::sick:

I don't really buy into that interpretation either. Over the course of the game, Shepard simply learns more about her. But all of the stuff he learns has been present from the beginning (without being obvious to Shepard or the player). For example, her attachment to Oriana, breaking Cerberus regulations to keep a promise to Jacob, etc.

She's reserved and detached at times, and she has a lot of deep feelings, as well. Both are equally "true" to the character imo.

^ This... I agree   as long is it not taken  to the extreme  with I think is what  previous comment  i belive is speaking of. Its okay for her to have softer side that  she show around shepard in the private moments but don't make it a completely different character.

Exactly so. It's one of the things that makes being the object of her affection so flattering. Look at what she'll do for those she cares about. She's tender and will move mountains for those she loves. And it's something freely given, not the result of the hero breaking her down.

This. Exactly this. Which is why it is compatible with the more reserved, detached side of her personality: it's not the product of some purely irrational impulse. There is always a certain amount of careful consideration involved (even in the romance).

She gives herself to him because and shows that side because she choose to and trust him .  Not because he is Awesome Shepard.

Oh we are getting in levels of emotional undestanding that Bioware might be able to handle.

LoL. Well, maybe, but everything in the game pretty much confirms what we are saying. LotSB: "She trusts me, and I care about her." So, the level of trust is an important factor.

this is true - but I still have issues with how Bioware can portray a relationship  like the between too people and I have bigger doubts if the Audience can ever wrap their heads around it .

I think--hope--the thing that will save her is they did "love redeems" with Jack and Miranda's really the only viable Renegade option.

I think  -  I would like it better  if she herself  made choice  to of where her loyalities lies and  she saves herself.

Exactly, The woman who shoots Wilson, and the woman who relocates the family of a crew member because their home is in danger of attack, the one who won't go back because the mission comes first, and the one who takes on a mercenary squad to save her sister, they're the same person, and no facet is more true than the other.

I sort of imaginge that the romance is going to be akin to Mike and Fiona in Burn Notice. They care about eachother, but they're not a fluffly romance-novel couple.

Captain's Quarters

Miranda: What is this anyway?

Shepard: Fleet and Flotilla.

Miranda: Another one of Kelly's inspid romance movies?

Shepard: Apparently getting shot at on a daily basis doesn't count as "together time".

Miranda: I highly doubt that Kelly's relationship training covered N7 Operatives and Cerberus Agents.

Shepard: So you don't mind not being a normal couple?

Miranda: Not at all. Do you?

Shepard: As long as you're happy I'm happy.

Miranda: Oh, dear it looks like Commander Shepard has been indoctrinated!

Shepard: I think it might just be the vid. Can I shut this off?

Miranda: Please do.

Shepard: Thank god. (shuts off display) Miranda, I like having someone who knows what it's like in our line of work in my life, normal's fine but if it means giving all of this up, it's not for me.

Miranda: (kisses Shepard on the cheek)

Shepard: Well that and I think if I had to watch more romance vids I'd be ready to shoot myself.

Miranda: (punches Shepard's shoulder) You just had to ruin a sweet moment didn't you?

Shepard: I can only take so much sappy sweetness a day Miss Lawson.

Miranda: (chuckles) You ass.

Wow, it is amazing how nearly everyone misunderstood what I was talking about :P. I agree with everyone's points, if I wanted a sweet girl I would have been a talimancer. If you look at my previous posts I was simply talking about a 'shell'. This has nothing to do with her character traits but simply how open she is.

In another post I was even more specific and stated that the core traits, such as her professionalism and her 'get the job done' attitude, MUST remain. The 'paragon' + 'renegade' interpretation was basically Sherpard's attitude towards her and not a change of her character. To clarfiy I think 'Paragon' characters break her shell, thus making her more open. While 'Renegade' characters encourage/ enhance her 'I'm the best' attitude. I personally feel it would be interesting if this were to be done

I see some attempt to create a slightly different Miranda based on the player's way through the romance in ME2. I like that, but it can't go too far, or the character becomes disintegrated or appears too much under Shepard's influence. I can see emphasizing the detached or the more open Miranda, the one who embraces what she is and the one who reluctantly accepts it, but in no way should any of her core personality traits be completely lost. We've seen the results of that at the Collector base.

This! Couldn't have said it better, my thoughts are exactly like Ieldra2's. Can't understand where all this hate came from though...<_<

Well it would depend more on what Shepard's personality is, remember there is wiggle room there and their approach to relationships is player defined. That bit you wrote, reminds me of how my Human male from Origins and my Sarcastic Hawke, that is how both would respond to such a situation. Though she would probably punch them in the face lol.

there will be a lot more wiggle room for your own LI because it is the last game and nothing will half to tie in with the next one this gives them room to add a lot of closue /or let you imagine your own ending.

Yes they have. She is originally blonde. (Though, as we have discussed before, I demand Miranda stay a brunette)
