Yes, but Miranda is badass and smart, something you can't always say about Shepard, regardless of how you play him. That's why I tend to identify more with Miranda than with Shepard at times, and that's why the mere idea of Miranda romancing someone else isn't as anathema to me as it appears to be for most people here.LexieTheT-Rexy wrote...

Mhm, I wouldn't be surprised if there was someone more deserving of her than Shepard. I wish there was someone else for her, but there's not. I am not really interested in Shepard's story. I am interested in Miri's story and the humanity's story in general.
That's why I liked Stargate, just watching how humanity evolves through the series/franchise and goes through different phases, that's interesting for me. One reason why I am not usually too fond of playing alien characters.
I am not really sure how the more deserving person would be like... But there are just somethings in Shepard that annoy me and many things, that are ''alright'', but not quite like I'd want them.

It got a bit lost in the flow of the thread, but that was actually a comparison between Shepard pre-Lazarus and Shep post-Lazarus as far as physical abilities are concerned.
As for Miranda and Shepard, why... Miranda, of course

Of course there is no Miranda Lawson in other games, that might also be a small *cough* factor, but actually I don't recall any other game where I had serious problems with the way my protagonist was depicted in the first place.

Shepard: Do you have a minute Miranda?
Miranda: Of course Commander. How may I help you?
Shepard: Remember what you said back in the shuttle, before Freedom Progress? That you needed to run some test on me.
Miranda: Well, at that time we needed to know the progression of your body functions. But I don't think that is really necessary now. You already prooved that your recover is complete.
Shepard: Miss Lawson, I'm prety sure that we need to do some tests right now.
Miranda: Excuse me?
Shepard: There's certain fuction of my body that I'm eager to try.. (Shepard looks Miranda eyes, then her bed. His eyes look again at Miranda with his rapist smile).
Miranda: You ass.
Bahaha! Yes! I definately think that this should happen.

Oh, I completely agree. I identify with Miranda far more than Shepard. Which might be why I can't go more than two missions without going and talking to her. (Even if she doesn't want to talk to me. D:)

Those are all optional upgrades that Shepard can receive later in the game. They're not a result of the Lazarus Project. That is what I am arguing. The Lazarus Project makes Shepard special in the sense that he is the first human brough back to life and perhaps in ways that have yet to be approached. But I don't believe it made Shepard physically superior to other humans. Using the Widow and lifting metal beams can all be due to the gene therapy that all Alliance soldiers receive. However, obviously, Shepard has cybernetic upgrades (Overlord).Ieldra2 wrote...

Well, unless Shepard was sedation-proof and able to use things like the Claynore and Widow before, s/he got upgrades. And Shep also has many cybernetic parts that weren't there before.
All Alliance soldiers receive gene therapy, that's nothing new. The "Fall of Earth" demo has one using a Widow.
Nothing indicates his cybernetic parts aren't just there to restore him and keep him together.
Cybernetic Upgrades
- Heavy Bone Weave (Skeletal Lattice) - Shepard takes -50% Damage to health from melee attacks.
- Heavy Muscle Weave (Microfiber Weave) - Shepard does +25% Melee damage.
- Heavy Skin Weave 1 - 7 (Lattice Shunting) - Shepard gains +10% Health per upgrade.
Also, even if you don't upgrade Shepard, he can use the Widow and lift metal beams (at the final boss). I say it's a given that Shepard has cybernetic upgrades.

If I am not mistaken those upgrades are extensions of the cybernetic implants Shepard acquired from the Lazarus project. Thats why those upgrades only effect him and not the other squad members.

Yeah, but there's plenty of sexy women in the world and sexy celebs. She's however, the only one I've seen to have a brain and she's hilarious as well. It'll be funny to see where her road takes her after Mass Effects. :innocent:

Dreamt I walked into my own bedroom and Miranda was sitting there beneath the covers, bare shouldered.
She smiled at me
At this point I apologised to her saying the bed was taken, then left her looking bemused and went downstairs to sleep on the couch in the living room...but not before seeing Joker in my dining room playing the guitar
What is wrong with me?

Words cannot describe the hotness.
Moving on, I will now attempt to formulate a coherent thought process...

Heh...ME is the first game where I'm playing a semi-defined (or defined) protagonist and (s)he has traits I dislike among the defined parts so that I like an NPC better.

I think RPGs tend to beat the player over the head too much with how awesome s/he is. I understand why that element is there, but often it is overdone. Not only in Bioware's games, but in the genre generally speaking. At a certain point it just becomes eyeroll-inducing.
That said, I also think it is more noticeable in a game like ME, where the protagonist is less anonymous than in some games, and thereby tends to feel more distinct from the player. "The Warden" is as favored by the plot as Shepard, pretty much, but it's not as grating.
