ME3 has 40,000 lines

"We do our best to keep consistency but it's tough with 40,000 lines! We've got new techniques on ME3 that improve it tho!"

ME2 had 25,000

The question is : how many lines for Yvonne ?

  62!

WTF!?!?! It sounds like shes going to have a long winded breakup with Shep... I know I have had some breakups that had to be at least 100 lines of dialogue.

Now I am sad.

Edit: DAMNIT! First again??!?!?!?!.... brb while I go find a picture. Image IPB

Dude it doesnt matter... the rule is that the first person at the top must provide a pic as long as people dont spam them in the thread... too many pics get the Mods pissed at us. I would prefer it if we could keep the thread going as long as possible.

If you want to honor Yvonne / Miranda do not post too much... lets keep this legendary thread going as far as we can.

Lets just hope that BW is looking at the forums and noticing how amazing Miri is and how much we would appreciate it if Miranda had a large role in the game. I know that there isnt enough time between now and release to do something about it, but a guy can dream, cant he? *sheds a tear*

They actually said Miranda would have a large role in ME3. The question is how big a grain of salt should we take this with.

Grain? I'm thinking more like rock slabs, straight from the caves of Timbuktu. The fact that they're being so tight lipped about it reinforces my notion.

Tbh, Miranda's role was probably determined early in development, and was probably always going to be pretty significant. I know that in the absence of info it's hard to be optimistic, but I will be more surprised if Miranda has only a minor role than the reverse.

Anyway, support can't do any harm. That's pretty much why I stopped lurking and started posting.

I agree. The question is how much that significance translates into screen presence. As you said, it's hard to be optimistic at this point...

Yep, but the reality is that info is released in chunks and that decisions will be made to avoid spoiling certain things. Various waves of marketting are scheduled to feature different things, etc. So, we'll see. I mean, I want the news yesterday, like everybody else here, of course.

But Bioware knows what's in the game. We tend to picture them sitting there trying desperately to hide the fact that Miranda has like 10 lines of dialogue. But it's just as likely they're sitting there chuckling about how pleased we would be if we knew what was coming. Just saying.

The old fear got to me - that the ME3 core team will consist of only ME1 squadmates and newcomers. Damn Garrus and Tali to hell. Too bad I'm too much of a roleplayer and can't vent my frustration by killing them in my games. But at this point I'm thinking of making screenshots of them and throwing darts at them....

I'm telling myself that. Things certainly look better for Miranda than for any other ME2-exclusive team member, including the released information. It's just that if Miranda has a big screen presence, there isn't any reason to hide that fact. You definitely won't feed any hype that way. If Miranda has a small presence, there is every reason to hide that fact. You see it in the way they reacted to questions about Tali and Garrus...

Ah sh*t, another six months to go.... I guess I'll be going through several sequences of up and down before then.

Well, considering that Miri is an LI, fits into the Cerberus story arc, and has pretty substantial plot armor she probably has an important role in ME3. Besides I'm looking forward to having my engineer Shepard, Liara, and Miranda  forming Team Science.

To be honest, you wouldn't hire as big an actress to do the voice and face of a character if you were just going to sideline them to a smaller role, surely? As for my self, I suppose I've always took a pessimistic view point to things, as I'd rather be proven wrong then dissapointed, but I'm finding a more optimistic approach to this situation.

But dam...can't believe we still have six months to go... More Miranda news would be great, but they'll be tight lipped about this one for a while yet... :(

True, he is a bro! But the fact that he and Tali are automatically put in as squad mates is a little annoying with regards to other characters.....

I like your optimistic stance mate. I think if the devs stated that she will be important to the storyline then I think we should take their word on it. I doubt they would want to alienate their 'market' by backstabbing the fans. However I'm a quality over quantity type of guy, as long as they remain faithful to the character and successfully conclude her LI storyline then I'm happy with a moderate amount of dialogue etc...

I'd be pissed if a single LI (such as Liara) is given a massive role as compared to the other LI. I hate how they seem to have preferred her. Don't get me wrong, I'd like some LIs to have smaller roles/ dialogue options. I just don't want it to get too out of hand were one has prominence.

It seems to me that maybe each set of characters (ME1 and ME2) should have had their own set of games, maybe a duology. As it is, we have Liara/Wrex/Ash/Kaidan fans who were unhappy about their characters being sidelined in ME2 (and some would say a bit derailed in the process), and now fans of the new ME2 characters who will be unhappy if their characters are sidelined in ME3.

It'll help if they really mine the potential interaction/conflict between the two sets of characters (e.g. Ashley and Miranda as mentioned here) but it's tough to stick some 16 major characters into 3 games (even about a galactic war) and do justice to all of them.

I've read that EA plans to keep the ME franchise going for "a long time", so maybe some of these characters were introduced with the intention of using them in DLC or spin-off games at some point.

It's also possible that Miranda is not on the squad but has some other significant role. I'm not sure what that would be exactly, but it might explain why talking about it is a bit awkward. I'm not sure how I'd feel about that. I guess it would depend.

Also, I count over 33300 lines in ME2 (with all the DLC) not 25000.

The number was put up before ME2 was released, so I'm assuming no DLC lines were counted :P

Do you know how many without DLC (no Zaeed or anything) ?

I'm expecting cameos from Samara, Zaeed, Kasumi, maybe Thane. drwells is right though, they spread them selves too thin unless you have the option of recruiting who you want alongside the obligatory squad like Kaishley and Vega.

To be honest I believe that all of them are going to make an appearance. Since its the finalle it would be unfair to leave anyone out. Even Conrad Verner.

Yeah I agree they're still going to make an appearance, Kasumi might be able to share the Greybox details at Shepard's trail or something, just an idea.
