There's a lot of cheese served up in the ME romances, no doubt. I can't do the ME1 Liara romance without cracking up tbh. "You are so fascinating, Shepard!" "That was spectacular!" Ok whatever LoL.

That said, I don't actually mind the "admire your mind and body" line much. It's just honest, really. Meer's delivery really sucks in the romance scenes overall, though. Miranda's included.

Not if you go Renegade.

At least there's an air of frustrated sincerity in his Renegade delivery, which is hell of a lot more than "appreciate your body or your mind herp derp". I didn't know whether to vomit or laugh hysterically when that came out of his mouth. Paragon has no game. Different strokes I guess.

Eh, I've done both, obviously. I think they're about the same as far as quality and level of cheese. But whatever works for you, sure.

I like Miranda defending herself before the kiss, but I really don't like Slap Slap Kiss as a trope. I prefer friends to lovers and characters who are the older and more self-possessed nursing a huge crush.

It's not really a "slap slap, kiss kiss" unless it's consistently used. Hell I'd be pissed off if the girl I'm foaming over is too busy moping about existentialism to notice. The "You're jealous!" line was more of a redirect than anything else.

I actually got the impression that that line wasn't meant as Paragon Shepard flirting with Miranda. He was just honestly trying to make her feel better.

Yeah same, it wasn't really the line I had problems with, though the delivery wasn't great at that point either. Still I think I'll have to go Paragon this time around, if the Paragon/Renegade routes result in different kind of romances in ME3, as I remember reading/hearing few weeks back. Maybe I just misunderstood.

I like the Paragon line a lot, just not as a lead-in to a romance. Someone needs to tell her that often until she believes it.

Well said. I do agree with MisterJB, though, that it's not really intended as a suggestive remark, at least I don't get that impression. It's more Miranda's response that is the romance lead-in, in that dialogue path.

I know. It's Miranda's response, actually, that leaves me with a serious case of whiplash.

That's another reason I don't like it. Miranda is exceptional, no doubt, but call me old school. As outdated as it seems, I think the guy should be the one to make the first move.

In the instance of a hypothetical same sex romance the Paragon line would have been perfect IMO. I know double standard but cut me a break, I'm an 80's baby.

Can Someone who is exceptionally good and making sigs please make me a sig based off or similar to my Avatar? And have it say "Miranda for Romance and Squadmate for ME3."

I like her making the first move. just wish it didn't come so quick on the heels of beating herself up.

*resigns herself to having fundamentally different view of romance than thread*

I'm not here to judge you, man, no worries Image IPB

Yeah, I would say that I don't mind Miranda making the first move at all, at least in certain dialogue paths. What does bother me a bit is more the pacing of that particular exchange. It just starts to feel a little cheesy and scripted at that point.

The fact that Miranda's sense of self worth is swept aside in favor of the romance is one reason why I don't like the romance. That part of Miranda never seems to be resolved.

I'm much older than you and I don't have that problem. :P I would like her making the first move.

Anyway I disagree: I think that line was intended as a lead-in to the romance and can be interpreted as a general comment only by accident. I'd say it comes across as a lead-in to most players as well, else we would've had more complaint about her being "too forward" from people like you :P

The painting? It's the shading of the picture. And on the other side of her face there's a high amount of highlighting. There's nothing wrong with her.

"Stop smilling dammit" is the only line that makes me regret to not play the renegade path of the romance. For everything else I prefer the Paragon one.

Too bad Mark Meer voice acting is horrible during the romance scenes (fortunately, Yvonne's one is perfect)

I think some of my disconnect with Miranda is that I read a lot of romance and she has a lot of traits I like in my heroes. Morally ambiguous. Devoted to the point of lethal force to those she loves. Highly capable. Broody. Really, all she'd need is a scholarly background. But in the in-game romance, she still fulfills a lot of tropes I associate with heroines, with the notable and appreciated exception of her sexual aggression.

*imagines Miranda as Mark* Yeah, I know who I'd be romancing.
