Because it's cheap and objectifying. Unlike Isabela, it isn't tied to her character or the narrative. The only comment is a swipe by Enyala that's clearly the devs poking fun. It was clearly put their for no other reason than the benefit of a certain type of gamer.

And you think you're better than this certain type of player, that they're catering to? *sigh*

Everyone lieks fanservice. But the difference between good and bad fanservice is like the difference between a wh*re and a femme fatale. Forgive me if I prefer to see Miranda as the latter, in spite of her default outfit and the camera angles. /sarcasm.

There's no bad fanservice, only good fanservice. :?

Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is a Shepard/Miranda story I did. Only forcing Matt Shepard to be Cmdr Shepard and embrace a life he clearly didn't want on any level struck me as so fundamentally unjust, so I got stuck.

The alternative is a sequel to the last Liara/Miranda where Miranda leaves the Normandy to assume control of her father's empire.

Well, I'm of two minds, really. I like the idea of Miranda taking over her father's business empire but I dislike the Miranda/Liara romance. On the other hand, I like Matt and Miranda in Portrait but I can't see the plot yet. So what now?

Well, if only because I like Liara( her character and especially her voice actress who also voiced one of my favorite FF heros, Lighting,  though I disliked the theme song of the game), that story probadly sounds like it could be interesting especially if your using her shadow broker connections to help Miranda take over her father's business....though I'm not sure what to make of the romance because I have shepards whom have romanced them both.

The other story seems interesting in that it may actually deal with Shepard's character at that particular point in the story...

I'm back( I was using my phone to post, like from the site, but BW needs to make a bioware social app). and I agree.

Dont we all Omega?

Anyways, its hard to start a new topic considering there is no new info on Miri for ME3 and pretty much all other conceivable topics have already been discussed. Even sexism has been a topic, there isnt much else, lol.

We can always speculate about this "unfinished business" Miranda is supposed to have with Shepard. Not that we've got a lot of hints...

I still say it's Lazarus. Something's gone wrong and we need her expertise. It's also one of the few reasons I could see justifying perma-squad status. Because Miranda-as-combatant is replaceable and she has many things she can do off the Normandy in the war.

Well, leaving aside for the moment that it probably doesn't mean anything in particular, I agree that Lazarus is one of the big plot hooks for Miranda. Second to Cerberus, obviously.

The strongest reason to have Miranda on the Normandy, though, isn't Lazarus in my view, it's the fact that she changes the dynamic more than anyone else, due to her history with Cerberus and lack of any really strong ties to the Alliance.

I'm pretty sure she does have some ties to the Alliance(like contacts and stuff.)

True, which is actually why I edited my above post to "really strong ties," but she has never served as an Alliance soldier, which is more what I had in mind.

Basically what I mean is: Miranda's presence provides for dramatic opportunities that no one else's presence allows for (barring some new character with a past as a Cerberus agent or whatever, but that seems extremely unlikely). Jacob was never as strongly allied with Cerberus as Miranda, or as highly ranked, plus he has a history as an alliance soldier.

So, to the extent that the writers want to flip-flop the situation in ME2 a bit, where you had alliance personnel serving on a Cerberus ship, then having Miranda around is the logical choice, especially given that, what?, 40% percent of the game is supposedly fighting Cerberus.

I do hope that the writers do something with Miranda and the Lazarus project, though, because that would likely showcase her scientific expertise/intellectual acumen.

I mean in-story. She was on the SR2 to see Cerberus interests carried out. Why, in story terms, is she back? As a combatant, she's nothing special. But she's a genius administrator. Lazarus is one of the few good reasons for her to be on-squad.

Miranda is a great squad leader. There's a lot she could do on the frontlines.
But yeah, if the unfinished business amounts to something, my money's on Lazarus.

What is your reasoning there? On the contrary, the game seems to go out of its way to underline that she's an exceptionally versatile and effective squad member/squad leader/combattant.

In game, she'd be back because she's the most effective leader/fighter around, with the added bonus of her knowledge of the Cerberus organisation (invaluable).

I do agree about Lazarus being potentially really cool as a story hook for her, though.

For some reason I think it may have to do with Orinna.  Especially if Miranda was loyal and quit Cerberus.

I can see TIM using Orinna against Miranda.
