Miranda's sexual orientation isn't yet decided. Perhaps it's wishful thinking, but given that she's never said she's not into women, I can't see it as insulting.
She doesn't have to say it.She shows it...
I would think the fact that FemShep can have the same impressive resume and service record as ManShep and be just as attentive to Miranda's needs, but Miranda doesn't look at her twice.Should make it clear that Miri doesn't fancy girls.

In fact I've noticed that there are many subtle differences in how Miranda interacts with male and female Shepard.Even in the scene where Shepard wakes up on the table in the Lazarus station when Wilson messes up or tries to kill Shepard.
Also the inflections in Yvonne's voice is different when talking about ManShep.

While I accept that Miranda is (likely) straight I don't see any reason for there to be any vocal bad feelings towards such subject matter. Complaining that some one else's impression of Miranda is different from
yours means that you should also be willing to confront other characters that are illustrated in situations that you find uncomfortable. Garrus cooking for femShep, Tali and Legion messing around, Wrex or Grunt having a "cute" moment, etc are examples of this. Can you honestly say that you're willing to go out of your way to tell
these artists "you're just wrong"?
Okay... This may sound melodramatic but, I couldn't help thinking of something MLK said when I was reading your post.
Martin Luther King:
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
Technically I'm not getting "vocal" textual might be more appropriate.

And I wasn't "complaining"
- I was "explaining" why such images offend me.This may sound like an extreme example to sum.But if someone decided to show pictures of a heterosexual, lesbian or bisexual character, involved in a relationship with an underage character.Because that's what that artist would like to see.Would you not be offended by that? And feel the need to pull a Udina and say, THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.Send in a Moderator!
There is a reason why people find certain things "uncomfortable" to often is being uncomfortable by something treated as a negative and not a positive.Think about other things that makes us uncomfortable.
For the body being uncomfortable is its way of telling us to correct ourselves.Improve our posture, etc...
Flexibilty:
When you strecth, your body is under alot of stress. This makes you uncomfortable, but if you stick with it.Eventually, the position that once made your body uncomfortable will feel as right as rain. Its sort of the same with desensitizing a person to obscenity or proporganda. The more you hear it or see it.The more commonplace and acceptable it becomes.
Character Assassination makes me "uncomfortable"... To see anyone depicted as something they are not.Whatever there sexual proclivities are.Makes me uncomfortable.I stop reading certain FanFics if a known character is behaving OOC.
Okay I think I better stop here before I start rambling
