Yeah, that is a great line. And one that really helps to show where Miranda draws the line in these types of situations.

Suspects are interrogated every day It sounds more like she means enhanced interrogation. She certainly is willing to do murky things. But sadism is a bridge to far. She despises needless cruelty percisely because she can be cruel when ut is needful in her view.
Well, like a lot of these lines, I think you can take it more than one way. At the very least, as you say, she despises needless cruelty. How much "useful" cruelty she would be willing to condone situationally is perhaps more of an open question.
