It is indeed awesome.

I'm thinking we'll get some more info next month, with Invasion beginning and the New York ComicCon.

That would be nice...lol.

I'm very fond of Ash's romance and find it more satisfying than Miranda's without headcanon. Tali's has a special place in my heart because of my own health issues. Liara has LOTSB. Miranda's...complicated.

*Notices you didn't mention Jack's*

I've done it. Not for me. I feel like I'm taking advantage.

I'm a pretty big fan of Jack, actually, so I have done it. Mostly just to see how it played out. I like the character, but getting into a romance with her never felt right, as a spontaneous thing. But I did it "out of character" so to speak, just for curiosity's sake.

Ashley is my favorite romance. Miranda is my favorite character. If I had to choose a canon romance right now, I'd probably pick Ashley, but I'm holding out with Ms Lawson that ME3 will do her romance justice.

Yeah thats what I feel too during the romance.

I think Jack is a neat character. Not one of my favorites, but I'd miss her if she wasn't around.

NYCC?

Something tells me that Bioware itself won't be there...ME3 demo might but no real Bioware presence
Mac is there for his comics and Drew is there for his books, at least that's what I know so far...

They have mentioned a big crunch time during the month of October though

She's just...not an option for me. I saw a video or 2 of her romance on youtube and I was like...no, ot even for a quick fling...which one of my sheps would have to be a manwh*** to pull off. I do like and think she is rather badass...though not really useful since my favorite class is vanguard n she is vanguard as well. Tali is more like a little sister to my sheps...though I do enjoy using the renegade persuasion on the admiralty board during her LM...

I like Miranda's romance for the most part, but it's the beginning of a romance, really. So ME3 will be important from that point of view.

I'm very fond of Jack. I'd probably feel more comfortable if I could start a new romance in ME3. The Talimance turns Shep into my perfect boyfriend. Miranda, well I seem to enjoy trying to fix it.

For the ladies, I can't stop drooling over Kaidan to really notice much else.

I like Miranda's romance a lot overall, but it's the beginning of a romance, really. So ME3 will be important from that point of view.

If I can choose this option

"Damn it -- you're right.
Shepard lowers his head and shifts around.
Shepard: This isn't the time to be getting involved, is it?
Miranda lifts her head to look at Shepard.
Miranda: No. I don't think it is.
Miranda stands up moves closer to Shepard.
Shepard: Maybe someday, after we save the galaxy?
Miranda and Shepard lightly grip each other's hands. Miranda smiles...
Miranda: Let's see how it goes. Until then... friends?
Shepard nods and Miranda walks back to her desk."

And pick up the romance in ME3 I will be ecstatic. It would just be better build up and more natural to me. Mass Effect 2's romances move to quick for me to have them feel organic.

That would be a nice option to have.

Re: speed of the romances, I've never done Ashley's in ME1, but Liara's, which is the one I tend to do, is almost hilariously quick tbh. It's like two conversations.

Well, I haven't done Thane's...so I can't say anything there...

I like Garrus' romance alot...particularily the opening the flirt where she talks about 'testing his reach n her flexibility"...boy he totally misses the point there...and then there are so many good screenshot, you can get along with the looks femshep gives him being ridicously hilarious...

Jacob's romance...well, the people that like it...like that fact that he isn't a 'headcase' like most other romance in these games can be. The ones that don't... don't like the 'prize' dialog at the end...eventhough that is hilarious as well others also don't like the fact that femshep is hitting on him pretty much from the getgo of them meeting( there is even a scene where she is blatenly checking out his body and the camera pans over it as she does it)... there's also the problem of him being so likable that you can ninjamance as well(though I find that hard to believe).

@flemm... yes, it is... infact they all are liek that kinda and you get your start with any of the ME 1 relationships depending on who you talk to first and how you answer there question about ther other possible LI.

Almost all romances are two conversations plus the sex scene. Jacob's and Jack's have three each IIRC, but they're shorter than the others.

And yes, I would like that option as well. So far I haven't dared to delay the romance though. Not with having to replay Arrival, LotSB and the SM to change things back if we don't get it.

I miss the thoroughly integrate ME1 romances. All I wanted was an option to say no clearly and politely. The main problem with ME2 is the romances are very modular.

That may technically be true, but with Miranda you have a lot more build-up to it, and you have more conversations with her overall, including the loyalty mission, which is very emotional in Miranda's case. That's generally true of the ME2 characters, to perhaps a somewhat lesser extent in certain cases. Whereas with Liara in ME1, those two conversations can happen basically right away, and then that's it. So it feels considerably shorter and more shallow to me. Liara's LotSB stuff is much better, of course.

You have two convos + LM stuff, less than Jack but more than Tali (who has an entire game), and the dialogue is to identical to FemShep right up until "It's nice to see you smile."

I don't see the similarity as especially relevant, really. Within a given playthrough where you do the romance, everything contributes to it, including the pre-loyalty mission "getting to know you" exchange and of course the LM.

On the topic of romances, I've just seen a floorplan images.eurogamer.net/2011/expo/logos/floor-guide-update.jpg for the Eurogamer Expo which I will be heading to tomorrow - and interestingly ME3 is not in the restricted 18+ area with the likes of Gears 3, MW3 etc.

This obviously leads me to believe that ME3 will be the same rating as the previous titles (15) - and given the discussion and comparisons I've seen between the romance scenes in ME and DA whether others think that the romance scenes may be...well "toned down" for want of a better description?

I'm saying Miranda doesn't have an especially large amount if build. She's middle of the pack, maybe a bit lower depending on criteria used.

I was comparing primarily to Liara in ME1. The ME2 romances are obviously more in the same range as far as amount of interaction. Though with Miranda I find the progression to be smoother than for either Jack or Tali, partly due to the nature of the LM, and the fact that you meet her very early in the game.

I don't blame you at all...and I'm with you on that one as well( that's probadly another reason why i tend to not even get close to Jack as in having 'those' kinds of conversations with her).

Just replaying the SM. I have to say the exchange with TIM brings me to think that Cerberus might indeed be after Shepard in ME3 because they think (s)he's a danger and will turn into something worse than Saren. TIM appears to respect Shepard. I don't think that's all an act. And if you keep the base they really have no reason to become antagonists.

Speculating that this "unfinished business" Miranda has with Shepard might tie into the same problem - only Miranda can solve it without Shepard's death while TIM as usual doesn't bother and throws his erstwhile ally away.

I love the idea. It's dramatic, gives Miranda a reason to be on the Normandy and have lots of nice banter instead of off doing her own thing. My only concern is whether they'd give a mortal character something that significant.
