Why do I suddenly get the premonition that Oriana will die in ME3?

No...just no. We're already worried sick as it is.Posted Image

It's because Mac Walters tweeted he's just reviewing a traglc plotline of ME3. I thought about how that could apply to Miranda and it's obvious. BTW I told him we don't want to see Miranda indoctrinated or reduced to a helpless victim.

No. No. No.
Don't think like that, just picture the tragedy as being - Shepard loses his/her standing as Pinnacle Station Champion, or something else so obscure, to take your mind off it. Posted Image

Here, have some Miri& Shep art to cheer yourself up. Posted Image

Thanks!

True, who would want to go through that again? Posted Image

Well, count me a cynic, but should Oriana show up as an element of Miranda's story arc again, it's quite possible that she'll die. Not that I want that, I'm only seeing dramatic possibilities. In fact, I'm with Jebel Krong - it would be best if she didn't show up as a plot element again.

"quite possible that she'll die." Depends on where they sent her.

Do we know where Oriana and her family live now? It could be that their world gets harvested by the Reapers.

As for tragic ME3 plotline, I truly hope they don't just force tragedy for the sake of it. I'm fine with another Virmire where Shep needs to choose who to save, but having people die regardless of what the player does would be kind of pushing it.

No but Miranda does.  My thought on the harvesting part is that during the 6-12 months between ME2 and ME3, Miranda takes her sister away and moves her from location to location to avoid Cerberus.

This is probably going to be the case:

I too have been thinking Oriana may die or be used as blackmail material to force Miranda to act for Cerberus. Can't say I'd like it.

"Miranda’s sister and her family successfully placed at (LOCATION REDACTED). Mother’s new job pays well and enough to ensure comfort and ease. Will keep Oriana under observation for her safety only. Miranda Lawson is too valuable to Cerberus, and Oriana’s well being is easiest means of procuring loyalty."

This is what is shown at the end of Miranda's LM
The blackmailing part may well happen but I hope not...

Also think Miranda is intelligent & capable enough that she could get around this or better yet rescue her sister and take her away during the 6-12 month gap before ME3

Right. Miranda is initially an antagonist (think Zevran or similar), we remove the blackmail threat, and she joins up to dismantle them.

I could see Cerberus needing more money to fund a war. And they could sell Oriana to Mr. Lawson for a large sum.

Or if you kept the base, Miranda defected to Shepard with some valuable research once Cerberus started getting crazy. They sell Oriana to Mr. Lawson, and offer the coordinates to his base in exchange for the data.

Oops pressed submit too soon.

I hope her arc is around her father and stepping out of his genetic shadow. I hope she confronts him and those emotions. The big common element Miranda and Mr. Lawson share is Oriana, so I don't think Oriana is going to fade out of the plot. Which I'm not sure of how I feel on that. I would like to see Miranda do something to her father without Oriana's presence. I'm not even so sure she would of had the motivation/will to escape if Oriana hadn't been born/created. The more I think about it the more I think Miranda is less about standing up to her father, and more about protecting Oriana. And I think she needs to stand up against her father for her ownself.

I'm hoping Miranda is wearing the armour of a female Cerberus Elite, the one with swords. Can you imagine her coming in (hopefully early on in the game) decapitating a few husks, then removing her helmet and shaking out her hair?

Yeah I'd like that armor too
Although I think my entrance is better :P

It would make a great entrance:  Your fighting against Cerberus troopers and out of no where this elite appears and kills the Cerberus troopers with a combination of biotics and guns with acrobatics.  As the squad is
momentarily confused over what just happened, the elite takes off her helmet shakes her head to let down her hair.  Squadmate asks "Who is that?" OR "Look who it is" and Shepard responds with a smile: "Miranda"

What an entrance!

With the added remark from Miranda: "Shepard, I swear saving your life is becoming a full time job. Aren't you getting tired of being my damsel in distress?"

Damsel in distress credit goes to Aeetos21 and Ieldra2 for suggesting this in the old thread :D

Well, to be honest, that doesn't imply that squadmates will die. Could be that normal people will suffer and places you work hard to save will be lost regardless.

Kind of like that little kid Shep tries to save in the demo. At the end you see him managing to board a shuttle only for it to be blown apart by a Reaper 2 minutes later.
Personally, I think important npcs like Anderson or Hackett are likely to die, but not squadmates. Especially if the squadmates also happen to be LI's. That would just cause too big a ****storm.

Love it Vertigo - I would almost laugh out loud at this, I got a really clear image of Miri saying that line with a really dry almost sarcastic lilt, with a slight smirk on her face

The reason i got interested in Mass Effect in the first place was because of Yvonne Strahovski, i just bought ME1 and ME2 this year in January and i had made up my mind about romancing Miranda before playing. So if Bioware gives her a minor role or make her a temporary squadmate i'll be really pissed.

Bonus points, if Shepard then replies: "Aren't you a little small for a storm trooper"

I'd love this so much. Such a good subversion of that trope

And yes, I can hear Miranda saying that in my mind. Then a snarky Renegade answer from Shepard and my day would be perfect! But no stormtrooper reference here. There are things I do not like to be reminded of.

@OrumRod:
Welcome! Unsurprisingly, we all share that sentiment

Time for presents!!!

Elyvern's massive Chapter 5 (of 7) of her Miranda/Shepard fanfic "Degrees of Inheritance" is up.

Link to Chapter 5, part 1 (of 4)

Link to the start of the story

Bring some time and brace yourself, there's some heavy stuff to read before we get to the happier parts. But they're there this time, really!

Sorry for posting this again. (Please don't attack me for it :()

But what if Miri were to have a Rogue type look to her and a Rogue type outfit in ME3? O.O

Knowing that she'll probably be taking down parts of Cerberus before she returns to me as a Permanent Squadmate (hopefully PLEASE) and the Romantic Relationship with her continuing.<3<3<3<3

I don't know something that shows that she is now against cerberus. Something feisty maybe I don't know.

Maybe something intimidating, but also sexy. To be honest, I don't understand why I said "Rogue Type Outfit."

I feel pretty dumb right now.:(

Sorry if that idea was illogical. :(
