What's he like? I know Black Widow and find the similarities to Miranda interesting, but haven't read a lot of her stuff.
The Winter Soldier is Bucky Barnes, Captain America's former sidekick. Believed to be dead after the explosion that sent Captain America into stasis, Bucky was found by a Soviet general without any recollection of his past. After being re-trained by the Russian army Bucy Barnes emerged as the assassin known as the Winter Soldier.
Eventually, both he and the Black Widow end up defecting from the USSR and end up working of SHEILD.

Doc, will you marry me? I do love Bucky/Natasha. Bucky's not a direct model for my MaleSheps, but I did borrow a few things. And I need something after Fear Itself.
All I can see is a Shepard who was a paragon in ME1 who comes back to an Alliance who isn't happy to see him, and a Council that just wants him out of their hair. Meanwhile, Cerberus has given him a new life, a ship, and the support of someone who believes in the Reapers. Keeps the Collector Base and stays with Cerberus, at least until ME3. End result is more of a paragade character who sees things more in shades of grey rather than black and white.

true, I'd day I'm kinda a Paragade character, mostly Paragon or fully good, and just uses the renegade to take out mercs and krogans that talk too much.

Hmm. I'm going to have to rework my MShep. Spacer/Sole Survivor?

You know, Shep as Bucky actually sort of fits. Hero who suffers negative publicity for something out of his control, is forced to stand trial, and imprisoned (well, shackled awaiting trial) for political reasons. Now all we'd need is Miranda busting him out and informing him he needs about six showers before he even thinks of touching her.

Miranda's catsuit is gonna have to try a little harder then that.

I always sort of considered Miranda to be Mass Effect's version of the Black Widow. Now I really want to create a Shepard inspired by The Winter Soldier to go along with that entire line of thought.
I can see that to a point. Brubaker's Captain America was pretty interesting for a while there, with Steve Rogers being dead. But Miranda is more interesting, imo, than Black Widow has ever been. Partly because all you really have, with Black Widow, is the super spy angle.

There's more, even pregnancy troubles. But what you see as complexity in Miranda, I often see as problematic. If I could retcon her entire dossier out of existence, I would do it with a snap of my fingers.
The LotSB dossier? I tend to consider that separately from the rest tbh. Just because of its nature as an obvious writer-to-fan tease. We know the info exists in the game, but we don't really know what it means or how accurate it is.
Most of what I consider complex about Miranda has nothing to do with that stuff. The reason that I'm not too interested in taking sides regarding the character, i.e. catsuit vs. armor, or renegon vs. paragade, or whatever, is that, generally speaking, I'm glad that both sides exist because that makes the character more interesting (to me at least).

The Dossier is canon. That much has been confirmed. It's also confirmed that the information in the dossiers might be less then accurate. Don't have a source but it's from twitter.
Right, that is basically what I meant. It definitely exists in the game as information. But its accuracy is not confirmed. (Doubly so, imo, because, in Miranda's case especially, it is obviously meant to tease fans.)

And something tells me any inaccuracy would relate to her infertility, which isn;t my problem except that it makes me worry I'll be stuck with a pregnancy.

But didn't she sleep with Tony Stark too?jtav wrote...
Bucky also trained Widow while he was the WS, and they had a very forbidden affair until he was put back into stasis. They found each other again after he was deprogrammed.

I can see inkling of my favorite and most-hated tropes with Miranda, and it terrifies me.
Yes, I understand that. Basically, the reason these discussions can be so polarizing at times is because the story isn't over yet, and everyone wants Miranda for themselves, or wants the rest of Miranda's story to be about their Miranda, not that other Miranda. Or however you want to put it. I get that.
Hilariously, this thread is 600+ pages long, and a lot of the Miranda fans on the forums don't even like posting here all that much.
Personally, I like the options the game presents. So, if I can have a couple of different Miranda stories in ME3, in different playthroughs, I will probably enjoy that more than anything.
