Just in case we weren't already sufficiently teased...   Image IPB

This type of thing, combined with the "Is she ok?" tweet, and the utter lack of info otherwise makes me wonder if we have a big surprise waiting for us.

It makes me a bit nervous, but I admit, I'm also pretty excited about it as well.

Hmph. I want information, not more teasers. Not that I don't appreciate the fact, but Bioware, can't you give us what we really want to know for a change?

BTW, where did you get that from, jtav?

@flemm:
If they manage to surprise me with Miranda, doing something totally unexpected with her, I'll be...surprised. And actually, it can't be as cool as some of the scenarios we have made up here. So I hope we won't be surprised. OK, her role could be *really* big, just short of critical. That would be a good surprise.

The question was about Kaidan, specifically. And as long as the surprise isn't an early death...

It can't? Are you absolutely sure? Image IPB

Not to say that I haven't liked a lot of the ideas I've seen here, but as far as the big picture goes, we tend to speculate within certain bounds, based on Miranda's already existing associations. But, as we've seen with other characers, sometimes writers do go for the WTF? factor.

So, I don't know. We'll see.

Where I see an opening is that Miranda will probably have left Cerberus. But joining the Alliance seems unlikely. So, there is a possibility that she may have gone and done something completely new with her time.

No, of course I can't be absoluitely sure. But anything with that WTF factor couldn't possibly continue her story arc in a meaningful way, and there are too many plot hooks for Miranda. Ignoring them all and going off into the unknown would make all these plot hooks pointless.

She may have done something new in the meantime, but the old plot hooks must be resolved in a meaningful way or it will feel like a broken promise. Besides, some of the plot hooks are too big to be dealt with off-screen.

I'm still not convinced "hope she's okay" doesn't mean "hope she survived." I'd love to get the numbers on her survival rate.

Well, I think rejoining with the Cerberus arc is an inevitability. But, as you say, that would be during the game. As for establishing a new starting point for Miranda, I could see a lot of things potentially working. She needs a new job, after all, to put it simply.

Could be. Though it didn't really come across that way.

Running for her life is a new job. And that's one way we could meet her. I imagine her contacts and resources pale and comparison to Cerberus.

Her priorities would still lie with anti-Reaper efforts, since she's well-placed and has the necessary knowledge. That's more than just "a job". I also expect that she's well enough off that she doesn't need to work for money for some time.

So, given that Miranda has broken away from Cerberus no matter what, that she's now cut off from almost any support structure, what could she be doing? If she wants to gather resources, then dealing with her father might be interesting, but I don't think she'll be able to do that without support, and it's not something really new. The same for removing Oriana from Cerberus' attention. I can see her working on indoctrination, but she'd need a support structure for that. Hmm...perhaps she'll work with the Salarian STG. Still, no WTF factor there.

So, what kind of thing could it be?

Well, I meant it more in the general sense of a new position or allegiance of some kind.

Not that she would be working at the local diner or something.

Though that would certainly be surprising Image IPB

I hope so. I'd love to find out that Miranda's been on the run all this time, fighting for survival, living by her wits. Just when I thought I couldn't like the character any more than I already do...

I hope she's ok, though Image IPB

As to what else she might be doing... I dunno. There's also the little question of how, why and when she leaves the Normandy. Color me intrigued.

Hmm. Do yo think we'll find Miranda and Jacob in the same place?

I've considered it. It would depend partly, I think, on what Miranda has been doing. If she's been trying to rally some chunk of Cerberus that is loyal to her and opposed to TIM's current strategy, then I suppose it is possible. Since plausibly Jacob might be a part of that.

Still, I think it's more likely that Jacob will have a mission of his own somewhere.

She may already have done that in the time after she ran away from her father but before Cerberus took her in. She did in one version of my headcanon. At an age of 16. With Oriana (though she sent Oriana on a trip of the galaxy in a portable cryostasis chamber while she was looking for a place to put her).

As for Jacob, I suppose it's possible that they teamed up for a while. But I don't think we'll find them in the same place.

I can think of a few things Miranda could be doing:

If Miranda didn't resign from Cerberus at the end of ME2 I could see her working with a team of other disenfranchied operatives (she can't be the only operative who didn't join because of xenophobia ) who are working to find out what has caused the sudden change in Cerberus operations.

If Miranda resigned from Cerberus at the end of ME2 she's working with a team of fellow ex-Cerberus agents (same ones who would be in the first idea) Who are on the run from the Illusive Man's forces. Using their expertise they are able to infiltrate Cerberus and gain information on how the Illusive Man has been able to turn Cerberus for an organization with a handful of operatives to a full-scale army in only a few months.

Yep, that's very similar to what I was thinking. It would make a good setup for ME and a reason she might be in trouble somehow as hinted by Casey Hudson. Thouch far from the "totally unexpected" flemm speculated we might be seeing.

Anything Cerberus-related would likely fall under the "expected" heading, yeah. At least to an extent. Not that it would be bad (both good ideas, Dr. Doctor).

Maybe she splintered off with Jacob and parts of Cerberus loyal to here and she is now planning to overthrow TIM

but then that would her make in some ways more awesome or just as  awesome  Shepard and it seems that Bioware may have an averison to this... the expection being Wrex wiping the Krogans into shape.

Btw this is exactly what I'm hoping  that she is doing  with  Jacob - who does not get enough create because the game where  he actually is the main characte no one played  because it was  cell phone game.   Where he and Miranda both save the Citidal.

I'm forseeing Jacob being a little bit like Rory Williams from Doctor Who in ME3. He's not too impressive or interesting compared to the rest of the crew in ME2, but he'll undergo a fair bit of development later on. Lukas Kristjanson seems to use this trope a lot. (See Carver if he becomes a Grey Warden in DA2)

I'd like to lean a little more about Miranda's backstory in ME3. While she may be incredibly intelligent and talented there has to be some story to how Miranda went from being a teenager on the run to Miranda Lawson: Agent of Cerberus. I'm sort of thinking along the lines of a senior agent who mentored her, sort of like a Cerberus version of Captain Anderson.

Well, it would make a few people really happy Image IPB

Speaking of blonde, I'd really like some news about Yvonne being onboard for the role and/or in the studio for some recording sessions. The gnawing little pang of anxiety in the back of my mostly optimistic mind has always been that there might be some problem there.

Also, if we are going to get any more Miranda news, or more substantial teases prior to next year, I suppose that might be the moment.

Isn't she filming Chuck until November? I doubt there will be any news until then.
