Considering how much Miranda immersed herself in Shepard's mind for the resurrection process, I can't say that she'd find it much of a surprise.

It's possible she was hoping for a little appreciation. Only from Shepard's perspective they just woke up after losing consciousness. They have no idea what has happened and if anything told to them is true.

Ehm, I'd like to remark upon the fact that we as players know -nothing- about the Project itself either.

Except that when Jacob first saw Shepard (s)he was just 'meat and tubes'. We don't know when Jacob actually joined or how far along that was. I imagine at some point Shepard was nothing more than a frozen husk though I admit I have not read any of the books and know nothing of Shepard's condition when Liara handed the cadaver over to Miranda.

In bad enough shape that gender was unrecognizable. Decomposition was also mentioned in several places.

I agree. Miranda was the one arguing for the control chip, so I have to think she cherished a few doubts about Shepard's reaction to working with Cerberus.

Jacob and the other guy (Fisk or something?) also seem to be expected not to identify Cerberus, which leads to that whole business of Jacob spilling the info anyway, to establish trust.

So, I think Miranda is more pleasantly surprised by Shepard than disappointed, overall.

I see what you did there... Kingpin...

*edit* The question then becomes what was Cerberus' original plan for Shepard? Did they ever intend to reveal their involvement? If the project had gone to completion as normal would they have hidden all the Ceberus logos everywhere and masquaraded as some other organisation entirely?

I'm going to renew my call for Miranda as a s/s interest. I'm kind of floored by how man s/s supporters love her and not in a "lesbians are hot" way.

I never thought about this, but after spending two years and billions of credits to bring someone back from the dead only to have said person immidiately say that the organizaion you work for is evil must be a real slap in the face.

That's why I never say that to her :)

Unfortunately, the game also doesn't give me the opportunity to thank her for bringing me back. At that time, that's more important thing - and then ask her about technical details of the operation. But no, this is Shepard we're talking about, with a canonical disinterest in anything subtle or technical. *grumble*

You can thank her on Cerberus Station after you meet with TIM. Or at least the wheel text is something like 'Thank you'.

I do support a s/s romance for Miranda in ME3. Mostly for friends who would be really happy about it. Though I think it fits the character just fine.

It's an interesting question. I suppose that they would have just broken the news a bit later on, in converation with TIM perhaps. TIM's m.o. seems to be to present himself as misunderstood, while also appealing to what he knows about his operatives' personality and motivations. He's not a liar most of the time, but more of a manipulator.

What he does with Shepard he has already done with others, such as Jacob, and even Miranda: placate them, tell them part of the truth, etc.

He is definitely the arch-manipulator and as likely to lie by omission as tell something approaching the truth. I think Miranda is actually too proud of her Cerberus involvement at that point to participate in a masquerade except under direct orders.

Ah yes, I recall. I still think it's a little perfunctory, and showing so little interest in the specifics is out of character for all of my Shepards.

I think it's out of character for most humans. I may not want to know technical details, but I'd like to know how soon the scars will heal, if my "equipment" still works, side effects, etc.

Decomposition? I don't recall that. They really shouldn't have been able to reconstruct Shepard's memories after that. I keep wondering if he had a greybox all the time since he joined the Alliance without knowing about it.

"Decomposition was far worse than we initially feared, but Wilson assures me subject is salvageable." She also talks about how the preservation systems in the pod were hardly optimal in Redemption.

Agree. If I had to explain it, I'd say that after her conversation with TIM, Miranda arranged to insert an agent aboard the first Normandy with such a device, in anticipation of the actual outcome (Shepard's death). It would have to be something non-intrusive, like nanoprobes, or at least something that could be done while Shepard was asleep. (Sneaking into the captain's quarters...)

This would sweep aside all my other niggling concerns around ME3 and probably make it my all time favourite video game. ^_^

In all seriousness, whilst I'm not going to be so disingenous as to suggest that she isn't an aesthetic delight, I'd certainly like to think that she is appreciated as the more complex, layered woman in the cast.
