Inspired by your screenshots, jtav, I tried modding Miranda's outfit selection. Works fine and it's even compatible with Jean_Luc's high-res mod. I'm just wondering why the outfit change doesn't work on Minuteman Station. My favorite face shot of Miranda is from there, how nice it would be to be able to give her the loyalty outfit there.

So....here is it: I'll replay my main maleShep Cyrus Shepard, Spacer/Sole Survivor, Engineer. Not just for the mods, but I also noticed that I really like his face best after all the other maleSheps.

The first encounter with Miranda never ceases to be amazing. Hmph. Why must it be that I like the first scene in the game with her best, and the last scene the least (Collector Base)?

I think she technically uses a different model for those scenes, except for one of the logs. I replayed the last of ME1, had Kaidan survive and killed the Council. So it'll be a while before I have new stuff. And I botched something and didn't get my import bonus. Ow.

It's more to do with the fact that it's one of the only times in the game where you see someone's eye animations actually conveying a recognisable emotion. She is angry at seeing Wilson. If the facial animations had remained equally high quality through the rest of the game I would have been so much happier. Both Sheps just come off as wooden a lot of the time and they never seem to focus properly on the speaker. Their eyes keep shifting.

Thanks. I appreciate the attempt. :)

But I'll only rest easy once I know pragmatic, mission-oriented and detached Miranda will be back in ME3 (along with "private Miranda"). As soon as I see that, I'll be able to ignore the CB stuff and pretend it doesn't exist in my ME universe.

About Miranda's model, I wonder if she uses a different model on Lazarus and Minuteman stations why does Jean-Luc's high-res mod work there? There's still something to be found out here....

You and me both Ieldra.

I have a Dr. Pepper code, finally. So Miranda wallpaper or Sentry visor so we can match?

I think it's out of character for most humans. I may not want to know technical details, but I'd like to know how soon the scars will heal, if my "equipment" still works, side effects, etc.

On that note:

Shepard: Sometimes things would be so much easier if people came with instruction manuals.

Miranda: It isn't as helpful as you might think, you still do things that confuse me.

Shepard: Wait, you have an instruction manual for me?

Miranda: Shepard, I wrote the instruction manual for you

For my latest replay (a modded s/s romance) I also replaced the loading screens and gave myself a pile of credits/resources so I wouldn't have to bother with hacking/mining. The game is WAY faster and more enjoyable this way. It used to take 15+ seconds for every loading screen and now takes 2.

The how-to for replacing loading screens is here:

Errr....not sure what you mean.

BTW that visor looks good. Where the hell can I get a Dr.Pepper code? Dr. Pepper doesn't exist in my country.

I would be very grateful for a code, Dr. Doctor (PM me). I want that visor. (Apparently, the hacked codes I found don't work anymore)

Well, either way, I'm really looking forward to reading your reaction. I expect it will be... *ahem* ...thorough Image IPB

Just think, before too long, we'll be talking about this stuff in the past tense. Should be interesting, whatever comes to pass.

Interview with Walters:

[quote}OXM: "Which of the characters in the game do you feel closest to?"
...
I also have to say the Illusive Man, and it's partly [because of] working with Martin sheen, having this great voice -- but Casey also had a very strong vision for who the Illusive Man would be. I love characters that are a bit gray, that are not obviously evil or obviously good -- they're somewhere in between. So from that perspective, he's a lot of fun to write. That's one of the reasons why, when we had options [for which characters to focus on] in the books, I wanted to go back into this guy's past and explore. I find him a fascinating character and would love to do more on him -- we haven't given away all the tidbits."[/quote]

Considering Casey referred to Miranda as a simpler character than Jack, I'm not sure I like him having so much influence.

I dunno, I've seen that quote, at least I think I have, and it's quite positive, really. Jack is pretty complex, I don't know if I would say moreso than Miranda, but in context (at least if we are talking about the same quote), the main idea is that people didn't relate to Jack, but they did to Miranda.

On the other hand...

ME3 to have almost as much dialogue as ME1 and ME2 combined

I would agree with that. She is not necissarilly more complex then Miranda. (i dont think she is at all, Jack is pretty easy to read) I relate to Miranda, i don't relate to Jack at all.

That info seems to be based on a tweet that, as I recall, was at least partially retracted (the one about ME3 having 40,000 lines).

EDIT: Yeah, Vertigo followed up with a "Wow!" type of reaction, and Blake responded:

"Arg, not sure how many lines there are. There was around 40k in ME2 with DLC." That article seems to be mis/over-interpreting that tweet the same way posters here originally did.

Going off of just trying to write both characters, Miranda's easier to convincingly pull off than Jack. Miranda's personality is for the most part consistent, it's clear how far you can go before you go out of character. The same line isn't as clear with Jack, the romance with her shows that she has a softer, more vulnerable side, but there's also her normal abrasive side. Trying to strike a balance between two extremes is a little hard to do.

I'm still sort of hoping for an Isabela/Aveline dynamic between the two of them in ME3.

I also think Miranda has a simpler hook than Jack. Her allegiance is clear, she's gorgeous in a more conventional way, and she has the whole femme fatale thing going. She is complex, but that is something that unfolds over time.

Whereas Jack is a very busy character as far as presentation is concerned. There's no really obvious hook, other than maybe how powerful she is. If anything, she almost gets simpler as you get to know her, and her past history is revealed.

So, I think that's partly why Miranda is easier to relate to, for a lot of people (thought not all), which is what the Hudson quote is mostly about, as I recall.

I found Miranda more layered. Jack I got almost at once--the bad girl with the traumatic past. I expected Miranda to be shadier and less stalwart, stabe me in the back.

Well, that is partly what I meant about Jack becoming pretty simple once you get it. But I'm not sure that is super clear to everyone immediately.

Something like that Image IPB

Miranda is harder to pin down once everything is said and done. She may start off as a riff on the femme fatale trope but her arc moves in other directions.
