"I'll always want you in my life." Miranda Lawson in Mass Effect 3

Yet, their relationship is a luxury, not a necessity, nor a priority for that matter. The mission and task shall always be a priority, once the circumstances dictate so, there might be time for the luxury of love, but it will not interfere with the task.
Nor I see Miranda the type of '' needy '' girl that most '' women '' are nowadays, always requiring or demanding attention, and basically '' being looked after. ''
Thus, I hope that their love relationship won't turn into a symbiosis one. '' I can't live without you. '' Is plain pathetic.
As for the Shepard-Ashley-Miranda. I generally find the three-way relationship rather repulsive, or infidelity for that matter, provided you want someone else, atleast have the courtesy of being honest, and state it so. I sincerely doubt Miranda would be enticed of becoming a mere ball in Shepard's ping-pong game. What kind of self-respect a person posses to be allowed to be joggled with another ball ( Ashley ) ?

Now that same-sex relationships have made it out of the taboo zone in video games, why not include polyamory as well? Really, it's not nearly as exotic as interspecies relationships.

Oh how I love Jade Empire. Apparently the Jade Empire they were developing got shelved, but I sincerely wish they tried again.

Granted. They were a bit simplistic and extreme. But I still like the basic concept of having the relationship go a couple of different ways.

I had forgotten this. I'm wondering if it's still true.
Well, I'd take the first part of that text I quoted with a massive grain of salt, partly because Vega will almost definitely be a LI. Still, like a lot of info that was released around that time, it probably does give us some insight into the main focus of development.

Actually, it would be out of character for both Ashley and Miranda to accept such a proposal. I meant it more in a general sense, and of course not restricted to maleShep.
I'd have to agree with this, though it would be for different reasons for each. Ashley is more of an up front, take-it-or-leave-it kind of woman and would probably see such a thing as prevarication on Shep's part. Miranda would look at it pragmatically and see the likelihood of complications and stress increase significantly just with the increase in necessary communication paths let alone factoring in personal compatibility. *edit* She's also want to know just why Shepard thinks they'd need more than her.

They definitely are. I don't know if it's because the SF consumers' demographic is perceived as more (culturally) conservative or if it's a matter of the team being more conservative, but the pattern exists. Likely something of both.Arijharn wrote...
Heh, in a way it's kinda weird that both games Jade Empire and even Dragon Age to some degree are more progressive than Mass Effect.

They retracted "no new LIs" but I find the lack of a new human female odd.

Yeah, but they basically did the same thing with a lot of the info released around that time, such as the bit about how some squad members would be more important than others, etc. So, there are probably some new LIs, with Vega being the obvious one, but it sounds like the focus was more on the returning characters.

You know what? I would like to see Shepard succeed under specific circumstances. Wouldn't that be totally unexpected?
My only issue with that is that I think it could easily seem borderline ridiculous. It's already really pushing it the way all these romances basically develop along parallel lines, to the point where several NPCs can reveal their interest in the player-character after the same mission, if you are reasonably conscientious about talking with everybody.
If you could then say, why don't we just all have sex? I think it could basically come across as completely lol-worthy, not to mention the cut scene.

I don't. The male LI's of ME2 suffered from a lack of popularity, in spite of having small but dedicated groups of followers. It makes sense to create a new male LI but not a female one.jtav wrote...

Or that's wishful thinking and there will be a new female human LI.

One thing that I thought was odd: who's writing Miranda is too much of a spoiler about how the squad works. Huh? Even if she has one line, someone's writing it.

Are you referring to Weakes' remark that he couldn't reveal who he is writing this time around because it would also reveal too much about how the squad works?
I don't believe that question referenced Miranda specifically, though Vertigo was trying to get Miranda info. Later he asked about Miranda, and Weakes declined to answer because he didn't want to give anything away (basically).
Anyway, yes, it was odd. But perhaps not so odd when you consider that an element of choice is basically confirmed to be involved. That could mean that, for example, Weakes covers everybody who can fill a certain squad slot where choice is a factor.
Or he just meant he is writing squad members who haven't been confirmed yet.
jtav wrote...
Well, I feel like any new female LI would disqualify Miranda.
Given a normal headcount, probably so. However, since some choice appears to be involved, I don't know if I would even rush to that conclusion.

Well, there are also going to be off-squad LIs, apparently. So, a new human female LI may be present, yet not be on the squad, among other possibilities.
They've also talked about more romance options overall in ME3.

Indeed. After all, it's so easy to get a good outcome that an average of 13% of the squad died in the SM. That's 1.3 if you don't have the DLC characters, 1.56 otherwise. And that includes all those playthroughs where people were deliberately set up to die.Xilizhra wrote...

So there is no pressing need for new LIs. As for new players, it will be interesting to see if anyone is dead by default, but I doubt it. Certainly not LIs.

I could accept a batarian, but two krogan squadmates so far is two too many for me.jtav wrote...
I'm expecting a new batarian (pleasepleaseplease) and krogan. We need someone to fill Mordin's niche and a Vanguard. And a Sentinel for the majority. And, er, if we get a female rogue/con artist/scoundrel type, I may have to absent myself from the thread.

Don't need a batarian personally and Grunt is fine from my point of view.jtav wrote...

Admittedly Liara is more the bookish, social sciences sort of scientist than Mordin's techy approach. Isn't Jack considered a Vanguard? I bet Aria or Shiala would be though I think you've already stated one asari is enough for you.We need someone to fill Mordin's niche and a Vanguard.
Still determined to not get your hopes up on the Miranda front I see.And a Sentinel for the majority.
Hasn't Kasumi already been shot down? She would have been the obvious candidate. And, er, if we get a female rogue/con artist/scoundrel type, I may have to absent myself from the thread.

Honestly, I can't see anything a new krogan would offer. They can live with Wrex and Grunt showing up temporarily.jtav wrote...
But krogan are insanely popular, and it's either someone new or Grunt. And I think Grunt would tick me off more than having no one come back.

A batarian would surprise me at this point. A prominent batarian character for a certain set of missions, sure. But on the squad? I doubt it.
The krogan case is interesting because there has always been one. So it would be a bit of a break from tradition not to have one. I don't see Grunt returning, as I just don't think there's enough compelling story potential there. Whereas it would be very possible to give him a couple of awesome moments over the course of a temporary appearance.
If I had to guess, I'd say the Krogan stuff will be focused on a specific section of the game this time around, with both Wrex and Grunt appearing there. The Krogan female is a bit of a wildcard, I suppose.
