I think they are more than cynical enough to say most people won't care as long as they get their sexy brunette in a catsuit. There's compare/contrast and there's confusing your audience.

Well, she looks more like Miranda in a variety of ways. I'm the guy saying it might not be that big of a deal, though

They have been asking for her hair down for 4 years? I wasn't aware.(started playing ME1 and 2 a few weeks before ME2 came out.)

You really can't see it? Well, for one, the hair is not only down, it's even shaped similarly to Miranda's, with one side of it falling over her face. Then, Ashley's breasts are much bigger than they used to be.
Finally, the suit. It does not really matter if it's a catsuit or jacket and boots. It's still a drastic change from what she previously wore and, using Ashley's own words, "it does wonders for her figure"
I've got no problem with Ashley fans wanting her hair down, my biggest concern is what jtav pointed out. That Bioware puts a human female in a skin tight suit and be done with it, who cares if it's Ashley or Miranda?

I like that she let her hair down, BW did say both Kaidon and Ash matured, in many ways, but I'm not worried.
But she needs to fight to win me back! Till then......loving Miranda always.

 On the subject of Miranda and governments, considering that Miranda is a pragmatist I sort of doubt that Miranda holds much stock in governments. Most systems of government are founded around an ideal, and considering that she was designed to represent an ideal herself (and how she deals with that fact) might turn her off to the idea of government all together.

And just complete the cynicism, Brooks is probably a much more cost-efficient and easy-to-schedule leading lady. (She's also very talented and I'm not criticizing her or Ash). They may figure Strahovski isn't worth the hassle for a major role.

Ashley's suit isn't a catsuit. As for the hair? Yeah, a women's hair tends to falls over the side of their face when it's loose and FREE. I'd say whatever way BioWare styled ash's LONG hair you would probably still see it the same as Miranda's. But for me, I still see the plain difference.

Skin tight? Ash has armor for combat. And if Miranda shows up in armor in ME3 I'm gonna be p*ssed! *Joke* Don't stress. Miranda will be in ME3 ...If she didn't die.
