Been gone a while (working on getting into grad school), but has there been any news on Miranda? Returning to see the MP thing kind of put a damper on my spirits. Any Miranda news to cheer me up?
Nope

I don't mind if there isn't a large amount of time devoted purely to the romance. What Dragon Age 2 did right in the romance department is that there was romance-related banter between Hawke, his/her LI, and the rest of the party. LOTSB is a step in the right direction with the banter between Shepard and Liara.
Yes! I so want to see some kind of romance-related banter between Shepard and Miranda. Now that would be fun! To see how they both would react to each other or other people. It could be a fun, teasing moment...
In Dragon Age 2, my male Hawke got a "Are you married?" line about Hawke and Isabella together. Boy did Hawke change that subject really quick. Haha. And that only happened if he was flirting with the girl in the lastest DLC. I wasn't expecting that line.
I really liked how Shepard was allowed to be honest with Liara about his feelings in LOTSB. Thumbs up for Shepard being more real? believeable?

I think too much is being made of the romances. Miranda's is six minutes long in ME2. Focus on satisfying conclusion to the character arcs and the rest will fall into place.
Too much? I think not. How many of us would be on here discussing these characters (not just Miranda but everybody) if it weren't for the romance component? I think you underestimate how much stock some people have put in these "simulated relationships" to say nothing of how many people got into this series to begin with because of the controversy generated by the so called "scandalous sex scenes".
Extreme cynicism aside, the ability to romance characters not only likely encouraged the writers to make sure they were multi-dimensional and appealing but is also a huge driving force for continued interest from fans. I'm not saying they're Shallow Love Interests or that the fans treat them that way. Obviously threads such as this one disprove that notion. But while we might like what the characters are made of, the romance aspect is a huge boost in actually developing emotional attachment to them.
Look at Tali and Garrus. A large part of why their popularity skyrocketed (to infuriating levels for some of you apparently) is because people wanted to romance them and they got their wish. Would the so-called "talimancers" be as prominent or belligerent if Bioware had refused to make her romanceable?
I say definitely expand the romances, make them worthwhile, make them as endearing and captivating as possible. Don't do it at the expense of ruining what a character is or the overarching story. But do it nonetheless.
After all, isn't romance the poor man's indoctrination?
I was actually surprised when Garrus and Tali were romanceable! I never heard of the 'scandelous sex scene' until coming here on the forum. I loved bioware's games and loved scifi. So I snatched this game up without hesitation or any prior background or advertisement. I still find something new everytime I play me1. The lighting could have been better in the Normandy but heck, it's still a fun game even though I hate using the bouncy mako.
I like the bright new look of the Normandy in ME2. It chokes me up everytime Shepard steps inside the Normandy for the first time. The video of the Normandy leaving dry dock makes me cry happily!
To bad we can't have our shepard sit down and actually take a crap on the toliet.

Vega: So you and Shepard?
Miranda: What about us?
Vega: I don't hear too much about you two on the Normandy.
Miranda: We're very private people.
Garrus: (whispers to Vega) Two words. Engine room.
Miranda: I heard that!

would there be three squaddies in shepard's presence like that (in banter/elevator mode)?
And I get the feeling this Vega isn't going to be very verbose......I could see:
Vega: So you and Shepard?
Miranda: What about us?
Vega: Uh....::motions to say 'well'::
Miranda: ::stern:: Yes?
Garrus: Engine room? Confirm or deny?
Miranda: ::faint purple glow fills elevator::.......

Well they'd be back because it's the final battle--the choice and love scene would just be extras.
I tend to think that there's no way this could be handled effectively for characters that are only in the game for a mission or two otherwise. For anyone with a significant presence in the game, where you get to interact with them more or less the same amount as a squad member or Normandy NPC, that could definitely work.
You have a point. But I'm more worried about cheap personal drama spoiling the mood of an epic scene that could change the fate of the galaxy. I think it would be best to not place this scene around the endgame. They said any romance conflict would come back to you when things look darkest. Possibly, that's not near the endgame, but rather somewhere in the middle, about two-thirds in, right before Shepard discovers some important piece of information that gives the galaxy hope. Not right before the war is decided, but right befre hope is rekindled.
And if that happens, it's much more feasible that your LI - now your only LI - stays with you for the rest of the game. Though in Miranda's case, she might leave at a later point to take over Cerberus. Hmm....difficult. But the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that romance conflicts won't happen near the endgame.

Lol Garus would know. He was probably working on some 'calibrations' at the time. XD

Vega: So, uh, I'm the new guy here, but Shepard and Lawson seriously do have something going on right?
Jacob: Dude, even a pyjak can see that. They're trying but failing miserably to hide it.
Garrus: Heh, never understood why they're like that. Is it some human thing to keep a relationship secret...oh wait, looking at you Taylor, I'd say it isn't.
Jacob: Damn straight. I mean, they even did it in the ENGINE ROOM. That's the exact opposite of hiding.
Vega: Engine room? Wait, Shepard and Miranda did the boom-boom-pow in the engine room?
Jacob: Yeah. I could hear them. Shepard must've been driving his...ahem...piston real hard into Mira-uh, the engine for her to scream like that.
Garrus: Hah! I was...calibrating...and I heard them too. I guess Shepard must have some serious engine power. And judging from the sounds, he popped a pretty huge heatsink too.
Vega *chuckling*: You guys are goddamn cheesy with all those innuendos man. Wonder what either of them have to say in their defense...
Miranda *not amused*: Right behind you.

Na I think Mr 2 billion dollar man has softened her heart (Not too much I hope I don't want her to turn into ME1 Liara 2.0). Me as a person would probably risk it, and just carm her down at a later monent... Shep definately has the "Gift of Gab" so he should be ok...

Well I don't know about "kill". But there would be consequences:

Miranda: I think the head needs cleaning.
Vega: What? But that's Gardiner's job!
Miranda: Not anymore.
Vega: You can't do that! (notices Shepard walk in) Sir, she doesn't have the authority.
Shepard: Actually when you're done with that my space hamster cage needs cleaning as well.
Vega: Sir?
Shepard: Well it's either that or the outside of the airlock. And we're a little short on suit oxygen...
Vega (resigned): I'll get the scrubber.
Shepard: Good man.

Yeah, and if there was a shared quarters involved, we would be sleeping on the couch, while Miri takes the bed.

Oh I thought you meant for others. No, why couldn't they talk about their relationship? Kind of important, that. Not in public or during a mission, they don't roll like that, but after hours?
And don't apolgize for using the first person. I use it interchangeably with my main Shepard. Shows you're becoming the character- awesome!

I know it's not directly Miranda related ME3 news, but over in the twitter news thread 2 things came up which might be of interest. Don't want to spoil people, so go look/read if you'd like.
One in LI related, the other one towards uniform/redesigns.
Not sure if that has been discussed already, but I'd love the possibility of being able to invite one LI
(regardless of who's your LI, whether old/new and permanent or temporary squad member) to move in @ Shepard's loft cabin and I don't mean just for a sleep over
Even if it would be dealt with with only a small scene or dialog.

I agree that idea that they wouldn't talk about the relationship in public or on a mission. Going back and forth like an old married couple on the other hand...
Miranda: You ordered an orbital strike on a Cerberus base I was observing!
Shepard: How else was I supposed to get in contract with you? You never answer my emails.

I meant that we would end up sleeping on the couch if we were to mention accurately about the intimate moment with Miri in the Engine Room....
