Joker left the Alliance remember? As for the rest of the Lazarus Cell I'm willing to bet that he warned them to get off of the Normandy before the Alliance commandeered the ship. Also, with the VS being a member of the command crew onboard the Normandy I'm wondering how the Alliance crew will react to having Miranda onboard
Ashley: Sir, we'll have to talk about.....her.
Shepard: She has a name, Ashley.
Ashley: You think the one she gave you is her real one? She's Cerberus, remember.
Shepard: And?
Ashley: And? She's a damned terrorist, she's probably got a history of torture and experiments on children. And you let her on the ship.
Shepard: Ashley, what are we fighting?
Ashley: ...what?
Shepard: Just answer the question.
Ashley: I'm not stupid, you know. I know where this is going, and no, I still don't trust her.
Shepard *laughs*: I'd be surprised if you did. You two are like fire and ice. But she saved my ass twice over. So I ask you to give her a chance. We need to stand together - all humans - to survive. Can you do that?
Ashley: I....understand. The mission comes first. But I'll keep an eye on her, just in case.
Shepard: Fine with me. And now if you'll excuse me, I need a shower.
Ashley turns to leave.
Shepard: ...and Ashley!
Ashley: Yes?
Shepard: You say she's Cerberus. How do you know I'm not?

No. I'm not exactly glad about that. I don't mind spoilers if it means they'll give me some reassurance about Miranda's role. Also I would have loved to see how she looks now.ViSeirA wrote...
Is anyone here glad the leak didn't include anything about Miranda? I'm glad I checked in here before I saw the vids, it made it a whole lot easier to resist checking them out.

I've never really been bothered by spoilers for fiction in general. I find that, if the story is good, knowing the basic plot in advance doesn't detract from my enjoyment. So, anyway, I was more than happy to check out the vids. There were a few interesting bits and pieces, but largely it was stuff we already knew about, or had seen chunks of previously.
As to Miranda not being in them, well, I wasn't really expecting her to be, so I guess I don't really have strong feelings either way.
@Ieldra, good stuff! The more I see of the game, the more I think Miranda-VS tension, perhaps leading to a big choice at some point, is extremely plausible. Philosophical tension, questions of allegiance and tactics, I mean, not romantic (though I guess there might be a bit of that, too, as a supplemental thing, if the flags are there).

^ Yeah, but...BioWare is continuously holding back information on Miri. Is it THAT vital that they don't give us any further info?
PR decides to give out some info and hold back on other stuff. They stick to a schedule, unless somebody screws up (as happened recently). But it doesn't mean there's anything earth-shattering there. I mean, this demo being leaked was a pretty big gaff, but it's not like we suddenly know everything there is to know about the game or anything.
Really no way to know if the surprise will be good or bad at this point. I tend to think good.
But I could be wrong

I'm not sure we'll get any kind of information about her at all, I've kinda given up on that, we're like 4 months away from release and the first thing to create real hype for the game is a leak... marketing has become a weakness in Bioware, especially since DA2.
Someone is gonna get the short end of the stick, and I'm thinking ME2's squadmates are the most likely candidates... Miranda included, can't help getting more pessimistic about it.

Ashley: Commander, I have some concerns about our new science officer.
Shepard: I'm listening.
Ashley: She's Cerberus and you're giving her full access to Alliance databases?
Shepard: I trust her.
Ashley (taking a step closer): Skipper... we can never know where her allegiances lie.
Shepard (steps back): Her allegiances lie with humanity, and unlike some she has no illusions as to what the real enemy is here, we'll discuss this no further.
I think in general the VS can be a potential Loghain in ME3, would make for an interesting plot.

"We can't trust her" this, or "She was once part of Cerberus" that.
Even though Miri quits for me, the VS will still have his/her doubts. >:/

Term is used in Star Trek, basically the officer in charge of analysing the strange phenomena the intrepid crew encounters (Data on the Next Generation, for example). Research scientist in ME, I guess.

There's always the possibility the Miranda's role is gonna be very small the VS won't bother with her at all you know, just saying.

She won't have small role. She is an LI. The devs would anger a lot of fans.

Well, when we first meet her, she's the head of a science team, so it's not that big of stretch tbh. Many of the science officers in Trek are humans, not robots, and they are basically the head of the ship's science team.
Hence the idea of "science officer." There is also a chief engineer, chief of security, etc.

I'm not doubting her because she's human, there are just more qualified people than her for that position. One of them being your avatar.flemm wrote...

If I knew how involved in the project she actually was besides being some kind of overseer than I'd agree.jtav wrote...
