Alliance retrofitted the Normandy SR-2. So I imagine when they took you into custody they impounded the Normandy, and since its a civiillian vessel probably claimed it as a military ship... especially since its a Civillian ship with an illegal A.I. onboard.

IIRC, it's mentioned in one of the leaked videos. And as much as I hate it, it makes sense. Ashley/Kaidan is a Spectre and Shepard's detained. Nothing unexpected in giving them the ship.

Though I don't think it will stay that way. It will definitely not stay that way if I have to say anything about it. Also, after EDI has been unshackled, I guess she's got something to say in how the Normandy is run as well.

I looked at the leaked vids and saw no mention of Ashley being the XO. Or CO, whatever you call it.

All right, I misremembered. Anderson said that Ashley's headed to the Normandy, nothing more. Heh, now I'm wondering if EDI is in command...

Having said that, I'm not so fixed on the idea of having Miranda back as XO of the Normandy. Apart from the approach to the Collector base, where we see her in full 2IC mode, in ME2 she's done mainly mission debriefings for recruitments and plot missions. While I would like her presence on plot mission debriefings back, she'd be doing more or less the same as in ME2. I'd rather have her do something new.

Hopefully thats all there is in regards to CO of the Normandy...I would be royally p*ssed if the Normandy has been handed over to Kaidan or Ash.

Not for me i've never had much attachment to it.

I still don't understand though do you mean your characters are mad? Its unlikely you'll be ordered around since that would be hard to implement, woudnt it? And they'll probably give it back to shep before the firsr hour has passed.

Shepard's been grounded for about 6 months now. Ashley just returns from a mission... with Spectre status. I wonder what ship she's commanding?

Normandy has be stolen from Shepard. No doubt about that. Now the question is... will Ash/Kaidan hand it back over to Shepard as soon as we're past the prologue? Or will it be a gradual thing as Shepard proves to be a better leader over the course of the game?

I really hope it's the latter seeing as how Kaidan ranks over Shepard/Ashley has the same rank. Handing command of your vessel (even if it's really Shep's) over your subordinate is uncharacteristic of military structure.

I'm quite attached to the Normandy myself...it just feels to me that Shep and the Normandy are like peas and mint jelly, you just can't have one without the other...as to my Sheps reactions, that would depend on which Shep as to his reaction in my games...but I wouldn't be too happy.

Sheps reaction: "Stand down!"

VS: "No...why?"

Shep: "Did I stutter"....

Omega, a few months after the events of Arrival. Jack is sitting at a table eating, pistol beside the plate in easy reach. Miranda comes walking up.

Miranda: Hello Jack.
Jack: What do you want?
Miranda: Charming as ever I see. Well, I'll cut to the chase. I need your expertise.
Jack: F*ck off.
Miranda: Won't you even hear me out?
Jack: Which part of "I don't work for Cerberus" didn't you understand?
Miranda: I'm no longer with them.
Jack: You think I'm stupid? Give me a better story.
Miranda: You never understood me, Jack. I work for humanity. Cerberus just seemed the best option for some time.
Jack: And now it doesn't? Why?
Miranda *frowns*: Cerberus people have been indoctrinated. Whole cells. Maybe they've been taken over by the Reapers, but.... I..... I think the Illusive Man has used indoctrination to make them more loyal. Whatever the truth, that's not the humanity I'm fighting for.
Jack: You believe that? And...you'd help me kill your...ex-boss if it comes to it?
Miranda *coldly*: If he's responsible, yes.
Jack: All right. Never thought you'd talk about him like that. I still don't trust you, but I'll hear you out. So...what do you want?
Miranda: You heard what happened with Shepard?
Jack: Yeah. You couldn't escape the news if you wanted to. Assh*les.
Miranda: I heard you've got experience with stealing military craft. Let's say I've got an irresistible target.
Jack: You're not saying......*smiles*....f*ck, Lawson, you don't think small.
Miranda *smiles*: Neither do you. Do we have a deal?
Jack: Not so fast. What will you do with it? And what about me?
Miranda: I've got the old crew and a few other....Cerberus renegades, if you want. I want to collect what Cerberus has got about the Reapers. The more people know about it, the better. As for you, I guess you'll want out when the job's done. Can't imagine you'd stay under my command. You can have the shuttle if you want.
Jack: Sure bet.
Miranda: Now, do we have a deal?
Jack: F*uck it. You know how to dangle carrots in front of one's mouth. We have a deal.

Earth, the day of the Reaper invasion. On board the SR2. Shepard and Kaidan are walking from the airlock toward the CIC:

Kaidan: Welcome aboard, Commander. But you're mistaken, I'm not in command.
Shepard: Who is, then?
Jack *lounging in a corner*: I am......just kidding.
Shepard: Jack? What are you doing here?
Jack: Helping an old enemy out, if you can believe that. Nice to see you, too.
Shepard *frowns*: Someone has to do some serious explaining.
Miranda: Someone...that would be me. Apparently we've been in the right place at the right time. Welcome aboard.

Wow, I never realised the Au accent was popular. Maybe Miranda's accent just urks me because I'm from Australia.

Some of the things she says make me facepalm, especially when she uses 'bloody' in a line. I think her regional dialect is NSW?

Can you elaborate? So far I don't really understand why your being from Australia would cause Miranda's accent to bother you.

Nah, he probably considers himself a more 'cultured' Australian. 'Bloody' is a colloquialism that we inherited from the Brits and never really lost. A useful adjective, really. And yep, her accent is Southern Highlands, New South Wales. Campelltown if you want to be specific, less than half an hour from where I live. The residents of that city are noted for their voices just being so bloody pleasant to listen to. Used to have a baby-sitter who'd just start reading to me and I'd goImage IPB

No wonder I didn't like it, it's that  annoying southern accent :P (Don't worry, I'm sure the Blues will win next year :bandit:) I went through all my games, and not one other game has an AU accent, that is probably why it irks me.

I do <3 Miranda though,  she has some fantastic dialouge (With Jack especially :D ) I imagine her in  a black sexy leather, and flashy N7 suit.

I may not like jack too well, but I hope that she will respect Miri in ME3.

Since Miri resigns from Cerberus, I would be shocked to see jack in Miri's Squad.

I mean, what if Miri has her own Squad in ME3? It's a HUGE possibility. However, it would be shocking if jack was in Miri's squad. jack hates her after all.

Yeah, it could definitely be a lot of fun to see that, particularly if that something new is her leading her own band of Cerberus rebels, or something of that nature.

I see four main possibilities for Miranda's involvement that would be potentially cool with me (obviously there are a lot of possibilities where her role sucks and is too minor for my taste):

1) She's leading her own team now and can't join up with you. So, you see her at least once or twice along the way, leading up to the culmination of the Cerberus arc. Screentime might be a little lacking here, but, depending on how it was handled, there could be plenty of interaction.

2) She's recruitable to the squad and she clashes with the VS until you eventually have to choose between them. Miranda can become XO in this scenario, but it would be a bit different from ME2 because of the choice factor. If choice actually does play a role in squad functionality this time around, this could be one of the big choices.

3) Miranda is the XO of the Normandy prior to the ship being impounded by the Alliance, she's just off taking care of a mission elsewhere when that happens. So you pick her up and she just goes on being XO, though obviously some characters wouldn't like it. This would be like a less extreme version of #2.

4) Miranda is recruitable to the squad but everyone is suspicious of her, so she becomes more like the disgruntled Jack-esque crew member who is working with an organisation she despises because she has no other choice at the moment. I could see some interesting irony happening here. And presumably she would leave at some point, maybe after the confrontation with TIM.

#2 and #4 are best in my opinion, although in #4 I'd like her to be just the solitary and cold crew member who gets on everyones nerves because of her coolness under all the suspicion, I can't imagine Miranda being disgruntled and if she is she'd never show it.

I can totally see that happening with Miranda and Jack, especially the more mature and stable Jack we're gonna most likely see in ME3.

Call me strange, but I want Miranda and Jack to get along - without compromising their personalities. That's what I tried to do in that exchange. I think there is potential for that. They've been through hell and back on the SM, and while I still don't like that I was forced to recruit Jack because that would've been out of character for most of my Shepards, Jack has proven that she can work in a team and hold her own in a battle, not just in a fight.

completely forgot about EDI......"i am the Normandy now".....hopefully there's a small bit of dialogue like "we had to completely wipe the AI of this ship. we lost 3 Alliance techs to asphyxiation......"
