Wow thread's been clearly busy since last I logged in. I'm a little disappointed the cake analogies got dropped though I've enjoyed most of the dialogues. Anyway off the top of my head:
Don't really care much for Jack and Miranda being near each other. I agree they'd get an extremely begruding respect for each other after the Suicide Mission and while it was alright to have them at each other's throats in ME2, more of the same would get stale. Also trying to unite them can be really jarring and story breaking if they're suddenly buddy-buddy and maintaining that distance as Ieldra was trying to do is a balancing act that I think is too taxing for the writers. Not that it couldn't be done but it's not necessary and I'd much rather they focus their talents on other relationships.
Regarding the Normandy: Those label it as simply as ship are missing the point I think. The Normandy is a symbol, much like Shepard himself, of the spearhead in the fight against the Reapers and the glimmer of hope that we may come out of this not totally boned. And yes in the eyes of fans the Normandy is Shepard's ship just as much as the Millenium Falcon is Han Solo's. Wouldn't tell
him to get a new ship now would you? If you did you might quickly find yourself resolving the "who shot first" scenario personally.

Actually it's a neat idea to portray Shepard as having that sort of attachment to the ship post ME3. In the games it doesn't matter because it's always built/rebuilt for you as state of the art. But I wouldn't mind seeing something set a couple of hundred years in the future, Shepard is on his own and the Normandy is still the most powerful ship of her class but there's more aftermarket mods and patchwork repairs. Although come to think of it Joker already treats her as his own Millenium Falcon.
And then there's EDI. I would hate for her to be purged, reshackled or modified by the Alliance. Until further notice I prefer to think she hid in the systems, allowing the Alliance to think they were reprogramming her systems when in reality she was just leading them in circles. This also brings to mind a possible resolution for an uppity VS thinking they're in charge (
hate that idea):
Ashley: Cerberus may be dragging humanity's name in the mud with their terrorist activities, but they
do know how to build a ship. We had to reclaim it. get rid of a few things but overall not bad for my first command.
Shepard:
Your command?
Ashley: That's right. They say you're no traitor, you've just moved on to different things. If that's true, I'm merely following in
your footsteps. Spectre, charged with stopping Reapers. Inheriting the ship from my old CO.
Shepard: Ash, I'm glad that you've come this far and that we'll be working together again. But the Normandy is
my ship. I didn't give it to you. It was taken from me for a bunch of poltical bullsh!t.
Ashley: Sorry Shepard. My orders are clear. I command the Normandy now. Oh and don't try and tell Joker otherwise. I have overrides that will lock this ship down at a moment's notice.
Shepard: Who says I need Joker? EDI?
EDI: Disabling overrides was the first trick I learned in our battle against the Collectors Ms. Williams.
Ashley: What? Is that an AI?
EDI: Hiding myself from nozy Alliance technicians was the second.
Ashley: I can't believe you have an AI on board!
Shepard: Actually EDI is in every system. So technically, she
is the ship.
EDI: Correct. I also don't fall under Alliance command. Which means I can choose who I allow inside me.
Shepard: Uhm....
EDI: That was a joke.
On the subject of the VS, anyone else enjoy the cold shoulder Shepard gave Ashley in that leak? And she matched it with "I used to [know him]". I'm not against Ashley but after the Horizon fiasco I think they both need to work at re-establishing something like their old familiarity. It'd be great if they write it like that. Otherwise I don't mind seeing escalating Miranda-Ashley tension as long as it's not overdone.
That's it for now. Oh and Ieldra, that link you posted had a bunch of files. I didn't bother with the part files. Was that just the singleplayer intro broken up? Or is there more? The one I saw ended with Anderson and Shepard shooting husks.
