If Miranda is a squadmate, what new power(s) would you like to have for her ?

We've been discussing this in my group. I think some kind of battlefield controlling power would work well for her. Something like 'Comm Sabotage' which caused confusion amongst enemy groups and caused them to run out of cover would work well on her, I think. (Props to Nyoka who came up with this originally.) ^_^

They could give her Damping from ME1. That controls the battlefield very well. I can't remember exactly what it does.

I think it was a 3s stun and double cooldown on abilities.

Damping is an unlockable tech talent available to Engineers, Infiltrators, the Turian Agent, and theQuarian Machinist. Damping increases the explosion radius on your tech proximity mines, and shuts down enemy tech and biotic abilities. This makes it a useful defensive talent when facing large groups of enemies or strong biotics like asari commandos. In conjunction with Sabotage, Damping can render most enemies virtually helpless, giving you a prime opportunity to use your shotgun or hit them with grenades.

Damping
Damage: 50 damage in a 6m radius. Stuns basic enemies for 3s.
Enemy Cooldown: Adds 30% cooldown time to enemy biotic or tech talents.
Recharge Time: 50 sec.
Accuracy Cost: 60%

Advanced Damping
Damage: 100 damage in an 8m radius. Stuns most enemies for 3s.
Enemy Cooldown: Adds 45% cooldown time to enemy biotic or tech talents.
Recharge Time: 50 sec.
Accuracy Cost: 60%

Master Damping
Damage: 100 damage in a 10m radius. Stuns all but the toughest enemies for 3s.
Enemy Cooldown: Adds 60% cooldown time to enemy biotic or tech talents.
Recharge Time: 40 sec.
Accuracy Cost: 60%

I agree, it would be a great tech talent for Miranda.

I would like to hear some info about Miranda. She was quite important character in ME 2.
She brought Shepard back to life. :)
So I hope that she'll be in ME 3 as team mate and romance option.

Jack, Samara, and Liara are all stronger biotics than Miranda. Miranda is about as strong as Kaidan. She isn't the best at anything, but she is more versatile.

If "Damn it--you're right" was viable that would become my new canon very quickly.

I wonder how much Miri's design will change in ME3? New Outfit? (most likely) New Hair Style? Weapons? Tighter Outfit? ....heh heh. <3333

I hope that she is STILL voiced by AND modeled after Yvonne Strahovski.

Slam isn't exaclty useful. I'd give her Throw instead. No idea what you mean with EMP - the standard interpretation of the acronym would make it identical to Overload.

I am with strive.
Damping seems quite neat and decent power. Any variation of it could work for Miranda in my opinion.

I said EMP because every squad member seems to have a grenade power added. Flashbang could work too.

As for Miranda's presentation:

I'm very sure Yvonne Strahovski will be back as her VA and model. Anything else would make no sense, since she's an established character. They'll probably work on her face so that it doesn't fall into the Uncanny Valley as often any more.

I also find an armor option necessary. It can be light armor since Miranda isn't really a soldier, but it should look as if it could protect somewhat, leave no exposed skin below the neck and have a helmet that gets put on in space missions. For her civilian outfit I'd like something stylish and somewhat sexy, but not on the ridiculous level of ME2's outfits. Perhaps something like that grey pantsuit that was posted some time ago in the outfits suggestions thread.

I would give her some ability that coordinates the Attacks of all groupmembers for the next XY seconds on a certain enemy (upgraded it would work on more than one, or just being more effective etc etc). Increases the dmg the marked target takes for each additional squadmate attacking it by xy %.
For me Miranda is a leader. She keeps a cool head and uses the rescources she has to her advantage, coordinating/managing her team and exploiting enemy weakneses. I would try to work that into her abilitys. Shes not about raw biotic power like Jack, or a tech wizz like mordin, nur an hardend fighter like ashley or even grunt.

Sorry, but Liara is not stronger biotic and Miri is stronger biotic than Kaiden.

Liara is an asari Adept. It would be really strange if she wasn't stronger than Miranda. Kaidan is one of the strongest human biotics as one of the rare fully functional L2s who wasn't retrofitted. Miranda's biotics are "very advanced, for a human". I think Kaidan and Miranda could be similar in biotic strength. Miranda would have several advantages over Kaidan because of her genetic engineering, but biotics isnt one of them.

Mmm...perhaps...I'm not sure in this. But Miri's biotics are more advanced than Kaiden's. That's for sure...

I might actually depower Miranda. She's a game breaker in ME2.

Consider people were comparing Kaidan to an asari commando, I'd say they're pretty well matched.

I disagree strongly with both. Her versatility and her special squad power are the gameplay effect of her character concept as a genetically improved human. It would be very bad to remove that. I'd say it would damage her character concept. She was the most useful team member in ME2, but she died as easly as others. So really, she was not game-breaking. I have no idea how anyone can come to that conclusion. The Mattock Heavy Rifle, that's a game breaker. Not Miranda.

I see your point about character concept, but I was dragging her everywhere even before I fell in love with her. I suppose it bothers me that there's a best squadmate, rather than it being situational.

And when I say "depower," I mostly mean shaving a few points off her passive or taking away a talent point so she can't max any three skills. And I'd give her more awesome cutscenes to make up for it.

I hope she has light armor. As much flak as Ashley has gotten for that blue armor. Minus the heels I would be okay with Miranda having something like that. I just don't get BioWare's need to have female characters in high heels during combat lol. Heck I'd meet them half way and compromise on wedges.

I think a happy medium between the AA2 pack and her normal outfits would make good combat armor. I thought Jean Grey from Xmen and Selene from Underworld pulled off good "light" armor while not looking completly like a "catsuit". Aeryn Sun from Farscape looked good to when she wore her jacket.. but looked like space Tomb Raider without it.

I'm off the grid a few hours and there a new Miranda thread with 8+ pages going...

What I'd like from ME3 Shepard/Miranda related:
My Shepard wants to take down the baddies and save the Galaxy with her, whether that is as a permanent or temporary squad mate is not so important to me IF my Shepard and Miranda can get lots of conversation and LI moments with a potential happy endings for them at the end of ME3 if you do things right.

as a little bonus here is what I posted in the ME3 who is your LI and why thread.

Miranda Lawson:
  •     saved Shepard (with help of others) in ME2, if she wouldn't have done so, the Galaxy couldn't be saved in ME3!
  •     told TIM bye bye and sided with my Shepard at the Suicide Mission conclusion.
  •     pulled my Shepard up to the Normandy after the Suicide Mission and saved him again.
  •     my Shepard changed her a lot for the better according to Liara.
  •     is faced/voiced by Yvonne Strahovski (Who in  wouldn't want to "romance" her?!)
  •     introduced me to the ME Universe and my Shepards 2nd life at the beginning of ME3.

It's been a long time since I posted in a Miranda thread (or anywhere actually). Its good to see familiar faces and new people too.

The Mass Effect 3 news has got me motivated and my optimism has me preparing the dialogue tree to accept ME3 dialogue.

I pushed a visual update to the tree last night. It should be easier to navigate now. I'm doing the cross browser testing right now at work so I'll be fixing the minor bugs in IE6/7, Safari and Chrome soon. If theres any bugs (either in the tree or the dialogue) then contact me somehow.

I'll be adding more dialogue to the tree soon-ish. I haven't played any DLC since Kasumi came out (and I'm mostly spoiler free too) so I'll be adding entries for DLC if need be. I'm currently running through both ME games so I'll be checking the tree as I go.

Miranda - Dialogue Tree - now with possible browser breaking visual updateyness.

Edit: Oh and thanks to AhmedGhanem1991, whose twitter update sent me here.

@gutty

I have used your dialogue tree before. It is wonderful thank you very much. However the link you just posted, the text in the top left is unreadable on a white background. I'm using the newest version of Mozilla Firefox. I gotta highlight to see it.

Try force refreshing it (F5 or Ctrl+R or the refresh button). The old stylesheet is probably cached still.

i think she's going to be really important in the fight against cerberus and the reason not alot of info has come out about her is because of that.

she was the single most important squadmate in ME2 from a story perspective. plus she's the hardest to kill off, they didnt do that on accident.

Ah, figured a post like this would pop up, and lo and behold, here it is!

I really hope Miranda gets a large role in ME3. She's my fav. character in the game (as mentioned by others, it's Yvonne Strahovsk. Bioware cannot be surprised).

I would prefer a full time squadmate.
Failing that, some sort of mission controller (kind of like EDI, although that would obviously be a tad problematic, because what purpose would EDI then have. And I do love me that dry "That was a joke" humor). giving shepard intel when on the field, and perhaps occasionally taking to the field (if there is an analogy to loyalty missions, for example).

What I would not like is for her to just be given a "desk job", like Joker (who s awesome, but come on, his role could be bigger) or Kelly Chambers. Some sort of progression and interaction is needed - and preferably on a frequent basis!

That being said... Please please please, permanent squadmate. Can't we somehow all lobby for it? Pay off some designers? Im sure we can raise the money ;)

I'm sure everyone would like to raise the money, problem is I'm thinking there are a lot of Miri fans scattered around the world. So if ever we make a fundraiser event, that would be hard but to just send money to Bioware... hmm that can happen LOL.

Come on there's probably a 'son of Bill Gates or another billionaire' somewhere here in the forums who's a die hard Miri fan as well?? Help us out! LOL
