I don't fully believe this and can easily think of alternate explanations, but… (Highlight for spoilers, I hope)

You know those much detested emails. If all she was was the princess awaiting rescue, why even let us know that she was trying to get Oriana? You could cover that during the reunion, and were going to have to find out about the Lawson/TIM alliance that even if she's dead. All the other squad members just seem to appear with no prior warning. But they want us to remember her and she seems to be on a fact-finding mission even before Oriana is taken. It could just be a way to build pathos and anticipatory dread, but two emails from half a game ago would not be my preferred method of doing so. So maybe, just maybe, Miranda has some significance in and of herself, just like the rest of the team.

Well, on that subject...

It's hard for me to feel too good about the emails. For one thing, it's a really bad/weak way to introduce new players to a returning character. Which leads me to consider the possibility that Miranda might not even be in the game for new players (which would basically assure cameo status).
Or the emails are just there to reassure returning players that they will find her eventually. New players might not get them, but the rest of Miranda's appearance could be basically the same for them.
It mostly feels to me like a sign that they are nervous about how late she shows up in the game, so they want to drop a hint early on to make sure you know she's out there. That could be true even if she has a pretty big role, though, it would just mean it starts late.
So, I can't see a real positive interpretation, but I can see a sort of neutral one.

You're right. Well, at least I'm trying? Honestly, every time I try for an optimistic reading of pretty much anything I feel like I'm grasping at straws. It basically boils down to "It can't be that bad, can it? They're better than this." Only I have found trusting the creator in these circumstances usually leads to a broken heart.

And pretty much everything I've read points to the rest of the ME2 team being awesome, even if the roles are brief. Miranda, though, is passive, with her initiative seemingly offscreen.

I wouldn't mind getting an email early on from Miranda if I import a save where she was romanced. If only to express that she's happy to hear  that Shepard managed to get off Earth safely.

On a different subject, I'm still trying to work out my idea of what Miranda's like when she's in full-tilt Cerberus Agent mode. Right now all I can picture is a cross between the Black Widow, and an Imperial Inquisitor. Mostly because my favorite line in Warhammer 40k: Space Marine is "I am soldier and scientist alike captain." I think that fits Miranda's character pretty well.

*Spoilers*

What pisses me off is that everybody grows. Ash/Kaidan are Spectres with a solid rep in the Alliance. Jack is a teacher a Grissom, Garrus becomes the Primarch ect. ect. And Miranda just stagnates. It's like the writiers didn't know where to go with her. You'd think that they'd notice an 800 page thread. Do we need to put neon signs on the thread title or something?

I thought given her popularity she'd warrant more than a couple of emails and a rescue mission. Then to top it off Oriana is the damn plot hook again. Sure some people can rationalize it away with it being family and important to her, but we did this already. Why would I want to play the same mission twice. No doubt it's on a different planet and circumstances can vary, but that **** seriously reeks of lazy. She could have easily wrapped up her business with her sister in between Mass 2 & 3.

And then there's the whole "just a cameo" business and blatant VS hate/Liara favoritism, but I don't feel like raging. Just what the hell were they thinking? I'm still cofused truth be told.

This is probably my only good contribution to BSN and I thought I'd make a thread about it.

I know that generally spoilers aren't allowed in the General Discussion section, but sometimes people feel posting spoilers is needed to make their point. There may be times when spoilers are necessary, but an example for that escapes me at the moment.

Anyway. To post spoilers you need to make the text hidden. It's hard to do without proper spoiler tags that are marked "spoilers" like you'd see on some boards and IMDB. Using Firefox and an add-on called "Colorzilla" I was able to figure out what the background color was in the main body text section.

What you need to do is use the following: {color=rgb(50, 50, 50)} text goes here {/color}. Replace the braces { } with brackets [ ]. Put the spoiler text in place of the red "text goes here" section and you'll be good to go.

The result (please highlight next section):

Your spoiler text will be hidden from view because it will be the same color as the background. That is, until it's highlighted by anyone who wishes to read that section.

Just be sure to give your spoiler an indicator such as *Spoiler* so people know to avoid them. Enjoy.

There certainly isn't enough known to assume that.

Here is what I have found so far,  I don't know if I want to keep looking for more due to spoilers (hello, I'm not the type to go spoil everything here)

Miranda helps Shepard take down her father.
There's also some dialogue where it sounds like Shepard is a little frustrated at how Miranda does her own thing ("Damnit Miranda!")
They reminisce over how they met (Lazarus Project)...deep conversation here

Shes more active that you think in the story and with helping track down TIM (This is super spoilery, not sure if I should post it here)

Oriana rescue mission:
To Shepard: "If I need a door or two kicked down, I know just who to call. But for now, I'll be fine."
"I needed to find Oriana. Nothing was going to stop me."

To Oriana: "I wanted you to have a normal life. Marriage, children. Things I could never have."

There are flags for Romances:

Miranda: Broke Up

Miranda: Romance Active

Miranda: Turned Down Sex

Miranda: Had Sex

Things are looking a little suspicious from where I'm sitting. Everybody gets missions. Miranda's seems tacked on and in a very small role that's not befitting the chatacter introduced in ME2. Till I'm proven otherwise I'm going to be a pessimist. BW has a track record for dismissing leaked info as rumors and then they ultimately turn out ot be true.

I was thinking that the other day: what about the new players? An email would be confusing.

Which is why I'm thinking if Miranda does message Shepard, it won't be an email. It'll be a video transmission ala Wrex on Sur-Kesh on Sheps omni-tool or something. They created Vega to help new players - use him.

Miranda (on screen): Shepard  - it's Miranda.
[dialog between Shep and Miranda]
Vega: Someone you know?
Shepard: She used to work for Cerberus - she helped us take the Collectors down.
Vega: She's very...curvy.
[insert obligatory panning shot shot of Miranda's body]
Shepard: She was designed to be the perfect woman by her father.

*shrug*

Finally some good news! I can breathe easier.

But, like everyone else, I am wondering where you got that from.
