I'd be totally for adoption, especially if it went with Shepards origin in a touching manner-
"She was left behind after a slaver attack-"
"He was left on Earth We don't want him growing up in that, like you did..."
"She was found in an escape pod when Reapers destroyed a frigate"
etc.
Miranda, coming to Shepard, should the player choose to pursue adoption, with such a child in such a manner would not only show their bond, but also how both characters are trying to fix the past/issues of the other, which is something I can totally see the two (arguably) most competent agents in the galaxy doing, if in love.

I don't really want there to be a definite ending for the romance, perhaps some foreshadowing that at some point in the future Shepard and Miranda will settle down but nothing concrete. The Fallout series turned me off from having detailed endings.

Well, she has a mission towards the end of the game that seems to tie up some plot points that carry over from ME2. That's the non-spoilery stuff that we know.

I'm going to laugh if next time Shepard sees Miranda, she's cradling a child in her arms. I can see it now, the evil potential, how about this...
(Shepard stares at the child in Miranda's arms. Blood drains from his face.)
Shepard: *in a weak voice* Miranda...is this y-yours? (Ours?)
Miranda: *looks at Shepard in confusion for a moment* What? Oh! Oh, no. I simply picked her up. Her parents were lying dead on the floor, and she was crying.
Shepard: *blood slowly returns to his face, and he breathes an almost inaudible sigh of relief*
(Fans everywhere release the breath they've been holding).
Shepard: Right, let's move her into Demeter facility, she will be well taken care of -
Miranda: *in an odd tone* She's the only one who survived that slaughter, you know. The one where I lost Oriana. I couldn't save anyone else. Just this child.

I'm cautiously unhappy. My happiness is dependent on both what she's doing and the degree to which she's available to interact with us. It currently seems like looking into a muddy pond and not knowing how deep it is.

Even now, I have no idea what to think. That in all likelihood we wouldn't have her as a permanent squadmate, or even a temporary one, makes me want to throw things. As a rule, I do know this: whatever content we get will never be enough, especially in the context of a game. As far as my fandoms go, this particular one has to have the least original material ever.

Hey the great part about this series is that there is no cannon but what you make for yourself (within the constraints of the game). So provided they don't take her past the point of no return in an undesirable direction (like, say death) we can each fix it later in our heads.
