While I expect that anyone can die in ME3, I cannot believe they'll make a popular LI's death mandatory. Except for someone like Thane, whose death was foreshadowed and people shouldn't be surprised by it. What I can believe is that they'll make it difficult for us to get our LIs out alive.

Except Liara, of course. Liara will get a free pass and be pushed as the canon romance.

Jacob's romance is also thoroughly wrecked, more so than Miranda's could ever dream of being. Suffice to say, I no longer ship them. I'm even souring on Liara/Miranda.

Well it IS the endgame. I think all free passes have been revoked. And the concept of a "canon romance" is ridiculous given canon is what we make for ourselves. The fact that she's Bioware's favorite is apparent but that in no way makes her any more "canon" than anything else in the game.

I hated the build-up to Jacob's romance but I liked the end. Yeah, "the priiiize" is corny, but I thought it was cool that he just came up to her cabin like "I need a reason?" unlike Thane's "I'm scared Shepard, hold me." He seen what he wanted and went for it, no BS, just his feelings for her.

This coming from an outspoken Jacob critic.

People, if you continue to post spoilers on the thread, there is serious danger of this thread being closed. Please go to the spoiler group for spoiler discussion. That's why I made it after all.

As for deaths, I'm quite sure anyone can die in ME3. Including Miranda. I definitely do not believe that her death - or that of any popular LI whose death was not foreshadowed like Thane's - is mandatory. If we take the premise of the game seriously - a war story where anyone can die and it may not be possible to save everyone - I think it's safe to say that ME3 will be one hell of an emotional ride, but there will be catharsis in the end and a happy ending for Miranda if we play things right.

To find out what playing it right means, that might prove difficult though. After ME2's "suicide mission" I can imagine that they'll make it a little harder this time to make our characters survive.

I was hoping for femShep and Miranda to take the third way in the "love triangle". It seems unlikely now though. Just about all the ME2 LIs seem to be unlikely choices for anything s/s which I think is a crying shame. There was a lot of potential for both genders there I think.
