As for losing me completely, i think we probaby have the same line of no return on this issue.
Yeah, it seems we are basically in agreement. What I'm seeing is not only one mission, but one mission that takes a form that fans have explicitly stated they do not want, with as much unanimity as one could expect from any group of fans. So, there is no good reason for that.

I never got a chance to read the spoilers about Miranda, so can anyone fill me in on her involvement?
We don't have all the details, but basically one mission late in the game, with a couple of long-distance conversations early on and possibly some additional interaction of some kind at the very end of the game.

I'm in a weird spot. Certainly, the size of her role is disappointing. One apparent omission is nigh unforgivable. But I recognize the woman in the leaks as Miranda, and the omissions are so easy to fix that I'm genuinely excited to fix them. So, a mixed bag generally expressing itself as mild disappointment. Can you write fanfic for a game not even out yet?
I find myself in almost the same position (although i find my pessimism rises and falls daily lol).
Compared to how i felt at the first set of leaks, the second raised my hopes somewhat and like you say it actually wouldn't take very much more effort or content to actually flesh the role out that much more, so there's still some room for things to work out very well.
Where i do find myself more pessimestic though is when reading through some of the leaks, there are so many instances where they seem to go in the complete oppostite direction of what i actually hoped for, at times when reading them i continually find myself wondering if they paid even the slighest bit of notice to what people wanted or didn't want, whether or not in the end this turns out to be just more over pessimism on my part is unfortunately a wait and see situation, in the end we won't actually know until the game itself is released.
What i will say though is if things go in the direction i fear, then it may be time to find a different company to support for me at least.

I'm going with the idea that the Quantum Entanglement Communicator is going to be how we interact with Miranda for the majority of the game. It's a perfect storytelling device that allows Shepard to interact with a character without needing to be face-to-face or using email.

I'm also feeling a bit uneasy with Miranda not being with Shepard. I just don't know... but could be better than I imagined. I guess the fear is being cheated with the amount of time we can spend with her... or missing out on some witty banter between her, shepard and some of the crewmates? You know?
Guess we'll find out come march.
Yeah, the quantum Entanglement Communicator is a good idea. I do like how they did hackett appearing in Shepards quarters. That was pretty cool.

That's right. But you can do only so much without personal presence. Cinematic scenes like we've become used to in the ME games almost require it. At the moment I fear that we won't get a romance scene. That would be a severe disappointment.Dr. Doctor wrote...

All in all, things appear to be heading this way: two major disappointments, one unforgivable omission and several big question marks, but it's the Miranda we love for the most part (one of the big question marks here, though) and there appears to be significant interaction within the constraints of a limited role (there might even be more than with other temps). And as one other character shows, it could be so much worse. The big question marks, the details we don't know and the possibility that both some of the good stuff and some of the bad stuff might not make it into the final version have the potential to turn her presence into something limited in size but but awesome, or to ruin things altogether.
There's one other thing: I've come to suspect that we were fighting Miranda's writer(s) from day one, emphasizing aspects of her they didn't want emphasized and exactly not appreciating those they wanted appreciated, in almost everything but the romantic content. I'm wondering if it will be possible to have a chat with her writer(s) (Weekes?) when this is all over to see if this is indeed true.
@jtav:
Yes, the omissions are easy to fix. Which means that they should fix them in the game! That's what the delayed release can be used for!

It should be noted that the brief conversation that the player can apparently have with Miranda at the very end of the game also appears to be long-distance. This suggests there is no romance scene with Miranda in the game, which would be consistent with the other ME2-specific LI characters.

That's the good thing: I'm fairly sure I won't have to disown ME3's Miranda.Boilrig wrote...
From this, I think we should just remember Miranda of who she was in Mass Effect 2, and what we wanted her to be in ME3, only if things don't go our way.

I am asking a legit question. Do i accuse you of being a troll when you do the same thing to Tali? Funny how you can only discuss certain things in these threads regarding the character without everyone calling you a troll.

Also, the problem with your line of reasoning is that I have not done the same thing that you do to Miranda to Tali...yet.
Back on topic.
While the QEM is all nice and allows us to communicate with Miranda in 1080p glory, it's just going to be sorely lacking if she isn't there physically. For example, you're in a long distance phonecall with your wife who's overseas. Is it as fulfilling as satisfying as talking to her in person?

Well, no, definitely not. It would ok as a way of working in a couple of extra convos early in the game, but it's a pale shadow of real interaction at best, especially at the end of the game.

I still can't bring myself to believe Bioware won't give us a face to face romance scene. Can they really have that little respect for the fans of their games?

Believe it. It's quite clear from the leak, and quite consistent for all the ME2-specific LI characters.

This isn't a good monday then. I'm still hungover and Bioware seem to be on a mission to crush all my faint hopes about this game.

No, it was already delayed once (originally slotted for sometime this fall, I believe).
