More its the impression given that Tali and Garrus get favourable treatment and the gloating of some fans of those characters at the expense of other fans who's favorites get less favourable treatment.
When you get things said by the devs that Tali wasn't originally supposed to be a perma squadmate in me3 but her fanbase got them to change their mind (ok so they've since backtracked and said that's not what they meant, even though it was clearly stated as such) then it creates a feeling that some fans are being treated more favourably.
But perhaps the main thing is everyone is worried about the role they're own favs will play, so when we express these concerns, based on dev comments or the leaks or whatever its usually fans of Tali and Garrus who say we're not being supportive or we complain too much.
Which is quite easy to do when the impression given is that their own particular favs are getting exactly the treatment they themselves want, can you imagine the rage on these forums from Tali and Garrus fans if they found out their roles had been reduced, it'd be nuclear, yet anyone else expressing that opinion is a whiner or a complainer or not a fan of the game by their reasoning.
Considering this is the miranda support topic, that really should be enough tali talk for the rest of the year lol.

I rarely have been following ME3's development but why are Miranda fans mad at Tali? Personally I'm a fan of both but I really want Miranda as a companion in thsi game.
To be brief, there is frustration because Miranda appears to have a small/crappy role in the game. It really has nothing to do with other characters, except spillover emotions, on occasion.

i never had a problem with tali it was more garrus cuz i felt he was forced on me but i got over it and hes ok i guess, kinda resurfaced when i found out miranda got semi-screwed in this game but again got over it.
although i havent seen any major hating here compared to some other threads

so sum it up for me, this non-miri fan. i keep gettin word around the bsn that you mirifans got rammed HARD. what exactly happened in the leaks?
It said that Miranda will have been captured by Cerberus and that as a result, Shepard will have a mission with her to get her out of "prison". That's about all they really have as far as Miranda goes for ME 3, so that means tha tshe will have a exponentially smaller role than the one she played in ME 2 as a permanent squadmate.

It's not quite as limited as you are describing there, coogi, as there are more details in an extended leaked script, but anyway, it's a pretty small role.
"Getting rammed" as Hellbound so eloquently put it

Shepard: I need your help.
Miranda: (sighs) Again? You know I'm rather busy, what with being incarcerated, debt to society and what not.
Shepard: Nothing that my handy get out of jail free card can't fix.
Miranda: Ah, the joys of being a Spectre. What's the mission?
Shepard: Some of the Cerberus remnant have started to stir up trouble in the Terminus.
Miranda: And you want me to help you hunt them down?
Shepard: No, I want you to help keep this from turning into a witch hunt. Those splinter groups you worked with are doing more for our colonies in the Terminus than the Council and Alliance combined. They won't listen to a Spectre, they might however, listen to you.
Miranda: Count me in then.
Shepard: Good to hear, we'll go over the finer details once we get aboard the Normandy. And Miranda?
Miranda: Yes Commander?
Shepard: It's good to have you back.

Yeah. We'll see how it goes, but if I think of the early version of the script - it makes we want to puke. That such a thing was ever planned is incomprehensible. It felt like an intentional kick in the face of Miranda's fans, as if they'd taken what we wanted and reversed it.jtav wrote...
I just want an equal for Shep. I never doubted it was Miranda until the leak showed up.
Things got a little better with the extended version. At least there is some potential now.

Otherwise you'll find out why the first two letters of BSN are BS.

Does she at least get a date with Shep like the LI's on the Normandy? Or should I be prepared for a replay of that scene where Shepard stares into a damn photo?
Bring it on, Biowar. I'm ready.
Cracked up when I saw this. This just made my day.

*If Miranda is alive: Ex-Cerberus ships manned by Cerberus renegades under Miranda's command join the fight against the Reapers.
*If you kept the Collector base: those ships have VIs (AIs?) that can subvert some Reaper devices.
*if you gave Miranda *spoiler*: those ships have ultra-strong shields and can survive the infamous "cutting laser" attack from most Reapers.
Miranda commands her resources from TIM's old base which she has taken over (assuming that Shepard didn't engage in his usual modus operandi there and blew it up. For once I want a facility to survive Shepard's presence).
----
@Bioware:
Miranda's Cerberus story arc needs closure. Cerberus defined her entire adult life. Why she stayed so long, why she was so dedicated to them to rise high in their ranks, what human advancement means to her, and how she feels about TIM's betrayal, all that needs to be explained. Without it her story would be incomplete. She should be present at *spoiler location follows* the Illusive Man's base. Details see here and here.

How do you guys think Oriana would take the news Miranda was a Cerberus operative? My gut says "not well" given how visible Cerberus seems in ME3. This is for Shadow War, so Miranda is still a member in ME3.

As to the base itself, I'd like there to be some type of choice there, if Miranda is alive. Default would be destroying it, but Miranda being alive gives you the option of salvaging it, and doing so improves Miranda's endgame contribution.

"Not well", definitely, but depending on how much Oriana knows about Cerberus and exactly how visible they and what they're doing are. Being around Shepard gives a skewed perspective.jtav wrote...

Probably not.
It would also be interesting to see how this conversation would go in the scenario we might have in ME3. Miranda might not be working for Cerberus any longer, but the connection is still pretty recent.

Very good. I like your characterization of Miranda. And you created a concept of a control chip that actually makes sense, something I'm sure Bioware didn't think about at all when they wrote that line for ME2.jtav wrote...
Next story is up. In which Matt and Miranda discuss the control chip under unusual circumstances.

I agree with Ieldra, the control virus scene was very well written. The issue that I had with the chip in ME2 it that they brought it up in a "Oooh Miranda wanted to control you! Maybe she could be a villain!" moment and then just dropped the subject entirely.
