I have to admit I would really miss Strahovski's voice. To me, it's the perfect mix for Miranda: mellow, but with a hard edge as needed. The accent really helps with that. Anyway, it's out of my hands.

Read it and weep:

For clarity's sake, I'll emphasize that, in Strahovski's case, we don't have anything comparable to the email from Beattie.

Edit: Just the VA. Mordin himself will be back. Not sure if that was clear.

I am gutted about that, but i would be shocked if they did that with Miranda considering it has her likiness and designed the character to be based upon Yvonne from the start in early development.

and not forgetting Miranda is a very popular character and is obviously an LI, which they would not want to change much about her maybe changing to clothing and slight hair style changes etc but nothing drastic like a new face or voice

and they know if they change Miranda too much the fans would not be happy about it

Oh, it would surprise me. But a lot of things have surprised me around here recently.

I'm starting to expect it Image IPB

@Omega, welcome back, I'm sorry to hear the bad news, my best goes out to you and yours.

Strahovski is good, but not irreplaceable. And the conflation of Sarah and Miranda occasionally had me wishing for a recast.

honestly I would bet on it that Yvonne is returning to her role, but you are probably right she is yet to do the audio for Miranda due to filming, thats saying Carrie Anne Moss is also in Chuck but no way near as much in it as Yvonne is.

out of curiousity does anyone know if Adam Baldwin is confirmed yet for Mass Effect 3 that could hint at what is going on?

I have the sneaking suspicion Miranda was there to be redeemed, and that the writers regard everything Cerberus as tainted. Human advancement is simply code for racism and must be given up utterly.

Funny that this sum's up my own thoughts regarding cerberus and specifically TIm and how they're portrayed.

Basically to me its this, in me2 they created TIM and Cerberus to fill a specific role, we were supposed to be in a deal with the devil situation so we dealt with the devil, the problem is that they made the devil more seductive than evil and some people were seduced.

So a paragon player who felt railroaded into working with cerberus and that they could never trust them, that they would at some point betray you got the impression they wanted them to get, however a renegade, renegon, paragade or however you want to put it, looked at cerberus and Tim and saw an organisation and leader willing to do what it takes, so were if you will seduced by that (along with the inactions of other organisations).

So they now realise they've made a mistake, either they didn't tell the story well enough or didn't draw the lines clearly enough and since they needed cerberus to be what they intended anyway this time they'll make sure there's no confusion, so we get a predictable cerberus and even more predictable TIM, one who have really no possible moral ground to stand on and who no one could really support, which was always what they intended.

Unfrotunately, this creates the Miranda Variable, where dealing with her arc could lead to questions that impune her character and remove or make more difficult her redemption or heroic end to her story, so instead we'll concentrate on her personal problems thereby removing any potential grey areas and allowing for a heroic end without anyone questioning the character, so like meerkats they go SIMPLES and its all done.

When you actually analyse most of the character arcs (squadmates barring perhaps the vs) they all seem to have a redemption theme running through them or at least a because of knowing Shepard they all turned out to be inspired somewhat to do the right thing (in some cases this isn't there but in the vast majority of certainly major squadmates it is).

In fact one of my biggest complaints regarding the script leak is its predictable, who you thought would be bad seems to be bad and those who met paragon shepard all seem to be inspired somewhat.

It's been mentioned that Yvonne did her original VA work for Miranda while Chuck was filming, so that makes for a bit of an odd comparison, if true. But the schedule could just be different. Anyway, if we don't hear anything for a while after Chuck wraps, that's probably a bad sign. Until then, it's probably up in the air.

Rhona Mitra was the frontrunner for a long time to play Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider movies until Hollywood muscled in Angelina Jolie.

IMO thats a hell of plus to Rhona that she was considered to be the truest version of a living Lara Croft.

I'm so sick of all this negativity and ****ing on this forum. :-) grrr... *must find that happy place* Nice story Jtav! :) Should have shown more of the love scene. :-) Don't be skimpy like bioware/ea *teases*

Thanks Flemm... I appreciate it. Listen I was mad as a kid when they replaced Michael Keaton with Val Kilmer for the Batman Forever movie (not that it was any good or anything) but I eventually got over it.

Where can I find this script leak everyone is talking about?

It was slightly obvious from the start considering from the very start she was talking about helping humanity and sacrficing her chance of a normal life for others. I would say Miranda is a female Constantine (in a sense)

and TIM its hard to say really he is someone who has noble objectives but goes about it at any cost (depends on how much he has changed in ME3)

I can imagine a sort of red dead redemption scene happening with Miranda, TIM or her father at some point (i mean at the end with his son not what happened to John Marston)

P.S. Flemm - you are most likely right and i hope you are right its just up in the air not just them keeping quiet about the bad news.

Up in the air from our point of view, I mean, of course. It's locked down one way or the other from the devs' point of view, I'm sure.

There's really no reason for them to keep it quiet unless they're waiting for her to be in the studio to make an announcement. Realistically, that would have to be sometime in December or (maybe?) early January at the absolute latest, I imagine.

@flemm

While i also believe Yvonne will be back, the reason why they may not announce it is pretty clear in how they do announce things, anything that may not be universally supported is always announced in a certain way.

They go through the whole say nothing until as late as possible before it leaks from someone else, then we get no comment until the screams for an answer become so loud they can't be ignored and finally a confirmation that something is in fact true, so while again i believe Yvonne will return, a part of me is worried and seeing the whole Mordin thing going down at times really worried.

Damn they better bring him back for Mordin! I love that character. The singing Mordin on the Normandy was hilarious. :-)

Not to forgot about the romance advice.  ;) I still want to know what was in that video about biotic usages during sex.

EDIT: Wow first day back and somehow I get top of the page miraculously again. BRB with Miri content.

EDIT2: There you go.

Boy did you deliver! That's a great pic!

When I heard talks of a Mass Effect movie I remember thinking Olivia Wilde could also pull off Miranda if Yvonne was unavailable (provided she can do an accent). Regardless I hate recasting of any kind, let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Here's a question.

Does anyone have a cutoff point, a point where they won't buy me3?

Just wondering what do you think miranda will wear in ME3, considering she has left cerberus so her outfit will have to be redesigned to not have the cerberus logo and possibly colours on it.

I imagine the same sort of thing just a different colour scheme and no cerberus logo on it.

or do you think it will be armour?

If it contradicts where I want the story to go after the ending, I'll be really close. Depends on how much it contradicts it.

Well I already have it on reserve... had it reserved since October. I will throw it out if there is a camo from Master Chief or any other game character. I like my cross-universe colaborations where they belong... in Capcom fighting games.

@CrunchCricket... if you youtube Rhona Mitra / Beowulf or Underworld... listen to her voice. I am obsessed with Rhona.

I wouldn't mind her wearing a black outfit... black t-shirt? black jacket, black pants and black boots. I think would look great on her. She can wear the leopard teddy in private.

Well, sure, but I don't see much point in speaking or even really thinking in those terms. The idea of "canceling preorders" and such just gets thrown around to the point where it's meaningless.

It's not something I'm going to premeditate all that much: if I'm moved to buy the game, I will, if not, I won't.

Thank you for the LOL although not for the drink i spilled while picturing the Master Chief popping up to take down a reaper,

Oh and complete agree on having a Rhona Mitra obsession, Doomsday is my fav though, over an hour and a half of Rhona.
