 And she should have some.

Yeah, though to me, this is something that doesn't even really need to be explicitly stated as "future plans," it's something that should be shown (or strongly suggested) by the ending of Miranda's story arc in the regular game.

Basically, it's a case of showing being greater than telling. That's why the "limbo" ending of the current script gets under my skin a bit, though I think it's plausibly a result of it being unfinished.

Yes, I want to believe that it was an unfinished script. It has some good things in it that I wanted to know about. I like the personal stuff she deals with. I think she needs to deal with them to "grow" and come out a stronger woman than she already is but deepened and makes her stand/fights for what she believes in. She needs to deal with her issues with her father. Why her father did all he did to Miranda etc. Her relationship with TIM and Cerberus... And lastly, her relationship with Shep and Oriana. :-)

I've heard it. :-) I am surprised you guys haven't.  I think you had to pick a particular phrase.  Shepard gets pissy or something. I can't recall off hand...

Just that one. You have to pick the Renegade option "I don't answer to you."
Also, make sure Grunt is the other squadmate.

Hmm it'd be nice to see Miranda telling off the council. Too bad I can't be bothered to save them...

I never knew that Miranda had that line. Then again I usually go to the Citadel after getting the SR-2 so that might be why I never heard of it. On the subject of the Human Council, we never see it and only a couple lines of dialogue change because of that decision. Sticking with the Old Council is far more entertaining:

Miranda: That was useless, they just want you out of their hair so they can bury their heads in the sand.

Shepard: Welcome to life as a Spectre, the Council doesn't care what you do as long as they don't have to hear about it.

Miranda: It makes me wonder if saving them was worth the cost.

Shepard: Human or not politicians are politicians. While I might not agree with Cerberus at least they're doing something about the Reapers.

Miranda: Was that a complement Commander Shepard?

Shepard: An observation Miss Lawson.

Saving them just to rub the reaper threat in ME 3 might be worth saving them though !

What, you only get it if you are rude to the Council *and* have Grunt with you? No wonder nobody else ever got the line. Besides, I am always at least distantly polite to the Council and accept the reinstatement. Everything else would be stupid.

Miranda's line is perfectly reasonable. How do they answer?

@CrutchCricket:
I have a few games where the Council is dead but I tend to keep them alive, if only to be able to quote "Ah yes, Reapers" back at the turian Councilor.

@jtav:
More comments about your excerpt on the previous page:

*I like the reflection on TIM. I've always thought exactly that - that his isolation played a part in what he became. I also like the solution Miranda found for that. Illusive Woman indeed, leading almost a double-life.

*Interesting that you made Matt go back to being an artist. Well, he never ceased to be one, so it's perfectly in character, and the way you wrote it makes him look as if he's going to be some kind of chronicler of his age through his art. Very unusual and it took some gettting used to, but I like it very much.

*What strikes me most in your epilogue is the hope for a better future and the belief that they can actually help to create it. It's almost absent in contemporary sci-fi, in this time of techno-skepticism (though I see a slight reversal of the trend). I can't say how refreshing it is to see an attempt at rekindling it. I seriously hope ME3, while acknowledging that the future won't be utopia, will nonetheless have something of that in its epilogues.

Some more technical comments by PM.

No, I've had other squadmates besides Grunt and she can respond like that...though it's been too long since I played to give an accurate desciption, I've never did that portion with Grunt there.

I don't remember if they say anything to her...I only know they respond if you have Legion with you and he comments onthe geth from ME1.

On the subject of rare comments from her:

During Tali's loyalty mission, if Shepard previously gave Veetor to Cerberus and chooses to speak to him, Miranda will speak in defense of Cerberus's interrogation, much to the objection of Tali.

--Taken from the ME2 wiki

Never done this before so I'm curious as to what she says.

I imagine it might work with other squadmates. I tried it with Garrus and Jacob before Grunt and their lines took precedence over Miranda's.

"Ah yes, Reapers." They don't actually acknowledge a Cerberus officer is speaking to them in a quite civil manner.

Not using my computer so, speaking from memory, I believe Miranda refutes the accusation that he was tortured. Instead, she claims that all drugs given to Veetor where meant to keep him in a state where he could answer questions. She also says something like "We couldn't afford to be gentle."
Her tone is sympathetic. The guy is very traumatized

I can't really ask this on Ashley's board since they want to keep it spoiler free, but i've heard that the VS get treated bad as well. Is this true?

If you really want to know, I can send you a PM I got from another member. It's primarily VS related.
(I didn't want all of the details from the leak)

Just send me a PM if you do want to know.

I don't know if Spoilers are accepted here in the Miri thread, therefore, won't post them. Feel free to ask me via PM.

By the way: I wonder how Miranda will get treated in ME3. I want her back in my squad, but from what I've heard that's not going to happen. I want her back to see how she and Ashley will work together (or if they're going to fight). After all, both are quite determined, passionate persons.

Spoilers are no problem if you say something like "*spoiler follows*" and surround the spoiler text with bbcode color tags (color=rgb(50,50,50) and (/color), with square brackets instead of the normal ones here) so they're only visible after highlighting.

By the way: I wonder how Miranda will get treated in ME3. I want her back in my squad, but from what I've heard that's not going to happen. I want her back to see how she and Ashley will work together (or if they're going to fight). After all, both are quite determined, passionate persons.

At this point, it appears very unlikely that she'll be on Shepard's team. Consequently, there will be very little interaction between her and Ashley, which is a shame, really. I was so much looking forward to their banter. I can't really believe we'll get nothing, though. After all, they're the two most important females in the whole trilogy.
I guess it's still possible she'll make a Legion-like late entry into the team, which would be very narratively appropriate, but I wouldn't count on it.

BTW, I'd also like to know what the current state of things is regarding treatment of the VS. Can you point me to a relevant topic in a spoiler group or send a PM?
