Miranda not a squadmate and Yvonne not coming back.
Now it's official : this game really sucks.

Eh, I'm on the lucky side on part, since I play with the Italian VO. The VO for me will be better than ME2 since Shepard's original VA (and one of the best in Italy imo) is backB).
I'm more worried about the importance and lenght of Miranda's role, though I can understand your worries.

It just depends on how hers was worded specifically, which we can't really know anything about. And, of course, if she just couldn't find the time with Chuck wrapping up, she may have had no problem at all with Bioware using the facescan.

BW is owned by EA.

If EA knows anything it's how to word a contract to their liking. They're not kids at this sort of thing. Most likely knowing Yvonne was famous they put in a condition to still be able to use her face if she was busy and not able to get into the studio.

And agreed at the last bit.

We don't know that yet. This is all assumptions.

And the Hollywood agent employed by Strahovski was a novice who couldn't get a favorable contract out of a company that makes video games?

Really no way to know one way or another what the contract stipulates.

Strahovski hasn't been announced, and VA is finished. So people are assuming, with some justification, that she isn't reprising the role.

and the roller coaster keep going down.

Bioware, you used to make good games. ME3 might be a good game, but it will also be the mayor disappointment.

Define "finished" though, like I said earlier this could mean that VA scripts are finished, but not all characters as such are recorded yet, with Yvonne not confirmed as returing or any even any mention of who the actor is for Miranda in ME3. Or, this could obviously mean that all VA is completed and now being edited.

I'd like to think about the former situation, with the latter leaving me a bit depressed IMO and also a bit confused.

They did make a comment about the last person in the booth, so I gather that means recording.

Well, that makes me think. When was the last time that we heared something positive of Miranda from the devs?

I'm pretty sure there's no way in hell they'd let her put in a condition they couldn't use her face if she was unable to record. (especially when that's not their fault) They're not stupid. There's a difference in favorable and shooting yourself in the foot. And saying EA makes video games means...what exactly? You think they don't have good lawyers? They didn't *need* Yvonne. If the contract had been so unfavorable chances are they would've gone to someone else.

There really isn't but it's reasonable to assume that they have permission to use her face voice or no. (considering they made a model of Miranda and it's based off Yvonne still) even if it makes my eyes cry.

Hmm. Troubling speculations about Yvonne and recording. Have there been any other voice actors that have recorded but not been publicly announced?

None of the name actors (not sure about the Quarian admiralty board)

Vega.  Mordin's I'm assuming (I want Michael back though).  Can't really think of anyone else, has Tali been announced?

There really isn't any reason to assume that, just as there isn't any reason to assume that EA's lawyers are any more crafty and savy than those working for the other party.

It's entirely possible that Strahovski can back out of either part of her contract, if she so chooses, and vice versa.

The fact that they have a facescan means nothing, the question is whether they can legally use it, just as would be the case for photos or film footage. It may be a moot point, of course, as it would only matter if Strahovski objected for whatever reason.

Well then. No disrespect to her replacement (if she has indeed been replaced) but this would actually make me want minimal screen time. As far as Miranda is concerned ME3 looks like it's just something to get through on the way to bigger and better things anyway. Still hope her story arc's dealt with and she has impact and all that. But I absolutely hate recasting.

Alright this will go nowhere. We will stick to our interpretations. This'll be made clear when the game comes out if Miranda has the same face and a different voice.

I think Ryz meant the action figure. Which still means nothing, as it's associated with ME2.

FWIW, I doubt the split was acrimonious since I've had Chuck-watching friends say they wish they'd stop with the Miranda references.

Not really. Strahovski might just be fine with Bioware using the scan.

Yeah, it does come up from time to time. Anyway, next up is actual confirmation that she's not returning Image IPB

I'd certainly hope she isn't minimized. Strahovski is not Miranda. Her performance is important, but it isn't all there is to Miranda.

Meh. Then agree to disagree then.

@jtav: True it is attached to ME2.

This is why I'm not fond of famous actor VOs. I rather they stick to less famous people. Less recasting that way.

Also agreed about Strahovski not being Miranda.

It might just be inner-rage going crazy but I've gone from thinking about canceling my pre-order, to not wanting to buy the game at all, to telling myself I'm overreacting, back to wanting to cancel the pre-order again. In less than 10 minutes...

**** You BIOWARE!!!!

Just let the record show I really wish she hasn't been recast and since there's not enough evidence to conclude either way we can still hope.
Also has someone tried tweeting her? Non-disclosure wouldn't apply if she wasn't back and/or voice recording was finished.
