Also has someone tried tweeting her? Non-disclosure wouldn't apply if she wasn't back and/or voice recording was finished.
She's answered the question a couple of times in interviews and given an evasive answer about not being confirmed to be doing that yet, or something along those lines. Could be they've asked her not to say anything, and she's obliging them. Among other possibilities.
Anyway, it's hard to see the total silence regarding Miranda and Strahovski as a good sign. There's just no upside to not saying she's returning if she's returning.
So, the working theory in the past was that Bioware was just waiting for her to be back in the studio after Chuck wrapped, but if VA is done, that's out. (Chuck is wrapping today, oddly enough.)
Anyway, I'm not seeing the thought-process behind the total silence if Yvonne has already been in the studio.

I'd certainly hope she isn't minimized. Strahovski is not Miranda. Her performance is important, but it isn't all there is to Miranda.
No it isn't. I know Strahovski is not Miranda. But I can't stand recasting. I'd rather see the character killed off (speaking in general now). It completely breaks it for me if a character suddenly looks/sounds completely different yet other characters act as if nothing happened. I know it's necessary sometimes. But I can't stand it.
So if Miranda is recast I'd rather know about her presence in ME3 as opposed to seeing it.

So, Miranda and Mordin are the Anders in ME universe?
Nah. They'd only be Anders if a important NPC has their voices.

jtav: Not me. Hated it everytime they did that in a movie or show. Batman Begins-Dark Knight for example. Replacing Katie Holmes with Maggie Gyllenhall? Both did a great job but I cringed everytime Wayne addressed her as his childhood friend.

I just don't get it. Maybe because I'm used to roles being recast, and maybe because I didn't know who she was before this.
I don't know who she was either and I'm still bothered by it. I tend to play sequels back to back so someone's voice becoming wildly different will bug me.

flemm: I agree it doesn't make sense not to announce it if it happened. However I do wonder why she would be evasive? When fans asked Beattie he immediately replied he wasn't asked back and encouraged them to petition for his return. Maybe Yvonne isn't one to do that. But I'm more confused about why she wouldn't say she's not coming back if that were indeed the case.
Well, it would mean that either she was being cool about it, or it was legitimately up in the air for a while there, or both.
Or she's squeezed it in somehow and Bioware is just being coy about it for no apparent reason.

Not really, Anders got to shine throughout the whole of Act III despite already being a companion in Awakening. Miranda is more like Morrigan. Very important... then disappears because the plot demands it. But if you mean the change in VA/personality then yeah.

Well none of this makes sense and I doubt we'll figure it out without more info. Hopefully we'll see her back.flemm wrote...

If they crossed media I'd be fine. When I heard there were talks about a Mass Effect movie I immediately thought Olivia Wilde might make a good Miranda if Yvonne wasn't available and Oliva could do an accent. Someone else suggested Rhona Mitra. Again I could see it. But in a different adaptation, a different "universe" so to speak.jtav wrote...
I grew up with musicals. If only one person in the whole world can play Curly or Mama Rose, it wouldn't work. So I tend to view everything that way. Can the actor handle the role? That's the only thing that matters. And the actress playing Miranda will have juicy bits.

Well, I don't think it's necessarily an either/or situation. I really like Strahovski's voice and accent. To me, it's a bigger part of the character than the fact that she is the face model. So, I'd be extremely disappointed if she didn't return.
Doesn't mean I'm going to write off the efforts of the replacement in advance, though. Still, with the role being what it is in the leaked script, it would be hard to see this as anything but bad news, if it is indeed confirmed (which you can bet it won't be until as late as possible, because they want her fans to buy the game).

I wouldn't call what Anders did "shine" (at least not in a positive way. For me, Anders is dead in DAA. He's completely OOC in DA2 imo) but yeah, he was important. Miranda isn't exactly like Morrigan, since DA2 has a completely different story, slightly related to Flemeth and her, while with the Cerberus plot I thought she would've a major presence.
Edit: I know that the (hypothetical) absence of Stavhoski could be problematic for some of you, but I think that Miranda's presence in ME3 is more important than ther VA. I enjoyed ME2 with the change of Shepard's VA, which is a bigger change than the (again, hypothetical) change of Miranda''s VA.

What change? The Shepards were voiced by Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale in both games.hhh89 wrote...

And I'm not discouting Miranda's role in ME3. I know it has to be important and I want that. But if she's recast I'd rather read about her contributions than actually see them.

I agree they cant recast the voice of miranda lawson considering they have got the actresses face on the character. It wouldnt see right having Yvonne's face with someone elses voice (thats saying Yvonne does say she finds it weird her face on miranda's body) guess if that does happen it would be even weirder

Well, I still hope they try to do the character justice in the game. Doesn't mean the change in VA (if it has indeed occured) won't bother me, but that's life.

I play the Italian version. Shep's VA changed in ME2, due to an accident that happened at the ME's VA (that is coming back in ME3, lucky me
I'm used to get some change on VA in VG and films, since the Italian VA are used to change, so I don't mind much the change. I hope though for you guys that Stravohski is back with Miranda in ME3.
