Wow, without spoilers, can someone tell me generally just how small Miranda's role is in ME3?

Anyway, I'm not seeing the thought-process behind the total silence if Yvonne has already been in the studio.

EXTREME OPTIMIST MODE ON

Bioware has a nice surprise for us Miranda fans ?

In the leaked script she's featured in one mission late in the game. There are a few other conversations over the course of the game, some of which appear to be handled via video, others in person.

Also, the contribution to the endgame.

Indeed, there seems to be something missing that would account for how Miranda contributes to the endgame. Hard to say what this amounts to, though. There's a final dialog, but I was counting that as one of the (apparently four total) dialogs with Miranda outside of the mission.

Stuff could be added, of course, theoretically. Particularly between the mission and the endgame, where there seems to be a gap (or they just need to rewrite/finish what's already there).

God I hope they decide to be benevolet to us Miri fans and at least make a DLC possible.

I'm not one to promote myself, but I made a........bare.......attempt at a thread supporting DLC for Miranda, you're welcome to go there to support the idea and to give your thoughts on what you would like to see in it !

Him this latest VA stuff has got me thinking about a picture that was shown in the Tweet thread....
::possible spoilers for ME 3....maybe who knows::
There was a picture of Mark Meer , Martin Sheen, and Belinda (Mark Meer's wife and VA for Rana Thanoptsis) Speculation may say that hey shes,Rana, gonna be there at the confrontation. Now it may just be a coincidence , as why not have a husband and his wife come in for VA work BUT.... what if Miranda gets voiced by Belinda thus creating the scene where it is Shep and Miranda vs TIM. Would you guys be okay with that? Would you trade Yvonne for bigger content for Miranda? Would you be okay with Rana's VA doing Miranda?
Its all speculation to be honest because chances are Meer and Belinda came down together to do their own VA work and this was a shot of the VAs who were there at the time.

I'm not settling for any other VA actor. Yvonne does a FABULOUS job as Miranda. It won't be the same and I'll be pissed off at my favorite gaming company of all times. Yeah, bioware I've been with you almost forever it seems with all your games. Don't let me down. :o

I believe rana's dead in one of my playthroughs... can't remember it's been so long since I've played me1... still have to finish up Liara's romance to import on the pc to me2.

Because I feel horrible about posting this:

Miranda's belief in Cerberus' goals is entirely tied to her need for purpose. She was lost, floundering after her flight from her father. Over time, she adopted the goals of the first person who treated her as if she actually mattered (TIM). What's more, he can provide her justification for her existence when her older sisters were killed or otherwise disposed of. The advancement of the human race gives her something to live for. But now Shepard, charismatic space Messiah that he is, has made her realize that she needs no justification. So she doesn't "need" that belief in the advancement of humanity. It was an emotional crutch, not her passion. So she devotes herself to what's always been *really* important to her: Oriana. At least, I'm fairly sure that's how we're supposed to see it.

I threw up in my mouth a little just writing that, by the way.

I'd call this about half true. I think it's unlikely that Miranda was all about human advancement before TIM's sales pitch; given that her father was, and was friendly with Cerberus, her first impressions of them are unlikely to have been favorable. I don't really believe it's an emotional crutch at this point, but TIM being the one who taught her that and then betraying her for it would be something to think about.

That's a tough call. A really tough call. I guess if I HAD to choose between Yvonne and more Miranda content, I'd go with Miranda with a new VA +content (even though I REALLLLLLY want Yvonne to return). This is assuming Miranda's looks don't change at all...just her voice. At least she'd have Yvonne's likeness

More Miranda content is priority... but I don't want a new VA regardless of who it is. OK unless it's some freaky good VA that can sound exactly like Yvonne and they used the same model, but that's splitting hairs. So I'd have to say no, but I also have to qualify it.

Put it this way: I only want to see (and hear) Miranda in ME3 if she looks and sounds like she did in ME2 (of course with cosmetic changes like a new outfit, maybe higher quality model etc). That means having Yvonne. But I also want her story arc resolved and for her to have maximum impact to the overall story. So basically if it's a new VA Miranda could single-handedly win the war- but I'd want it to be offscreen.

Obviously my view is extreme and convoluted and would never get listened to. But hey I'm a fan on the internet. That entitles me to make all the irrational demands I can think of:D I've been pretty reasonable so far. This will be my excess.

I think this is all being overblown. We have six weeks until ME3 goes gold, plenty of time to get any remaining VA work done. We can't confirm or deny anything because Bioware has a press embargo going on for the time being, they're not going to reveal much of anything quite yet.

For right now I leave you with this:

VO recording is done for ME3 that's why everyone is discussing it

EDIT: And the picture is hilarious!

Well, that makes me think. When was the last time that we heared something positive of Miranda from the devs?

Around Gamescom. When Mac Walters tweeted that he was writing a challenging scene for Miranda. And when Mike Gamble said she'd have a large role...hmph.

Also, regarding Strahovski: you're all jumping to conclusions. That tweet that VO is finished means absolutely nothing. She could've recorded earler. After all, it is hard work, but it doesn't take a great deal of time.

Besides, I recall Casey Hudson letting slip she'd be back just a few weeks ago.

Hope "challenging" is referred to him as a writer, if it's "challenging" for us, then we're f***ed

Also has someone tried tweeting her? Non-disclosure wouldn't apply if she wasn't back and/or voice recording was finished.

It would apply, depending on the terms. They can easily say she can't say anything about it before the official confirmation or the game comes out unless agreed by Bioware/EA, and not disclose any details regarding lines she may or may not have recorded for the next five years. In fact, I'm pretty there's a clause very similar to this one.

I have to wonder if it's a new writer OR the other writer from ME2 we never learned about who wrote her (Weekes did non critical path)

Well there was that tweet about Jacks VA in a recording session that they announced...I was expecting to hear from others but they kept the lid on that it seems.

I don't know how this can be or why it  has to be even discussed, it's not Miranda if it doesn't sound and look like Yvonne. It's same as saying that Anakin and Luke are same person.

Depends. For significantly more content, most likely. But while I'm not as inflexible as some others with regard to Miranda's VA, losing Yvonne Strahovski would be painful.

Would you be okay with Rana's VA doing Miranda?

Cannot say. We only ever have a few lines from Rana, which include none of the emotional subtleties in Miranda's dialogue.

Having said that, I believe Strahovski's not back when Bioware annouces it. Until then, I remain convinced she will be back. The current state of non-information means nothing.

@Vertigo:
Mac Walters wrote Miranda on the critical path if I recall correctly.

@feliciano:
Yes, he meant challenging for him as a writer. Besides, if it was challenging for us I wouldn't necessarily mind. Putting characters through hell only to let them come through in the end is a way to emphasize their strength.

Cheers this is one of the few things of late about Mass effect that has made me smile.
