Damn it all. I'm making a misogynistic James Bondish (Sean Connery) Shepard with a different girl for every game. I give up on following characters from Bio Ware games. It's an exercise in futility. LOL Sorry Miranda... it's all Casey's fault.

Anyhoo... I have a question for one and all.They say that "opposites attract' and some other stuff  but I was wondering... Which Psychological/Background Profile of Commmander Shepard do you think Operatrive Miranda Lawson would be most attracted too?

Given how 'the mission comes first' she is at times.I sometimes think that Miri would fancy "the Butcher of Torfan Shepard most of all.Their sort of like 'two peas in a pod'. Both ruthless and efficent, stoic and or austere... But then I think that perhaps she would like someone who is very different from her, like my canon Shepard who is a war hero and colonist.His idealism and principle comes first attitude and no nonsense butt kicking.Has its charms...

Ah...right. Yeah, I don't actually read the descriptions of those things. Just the numbers. Strange, though.  I always go with Guardian because of the paragon/renegade bonus. That's always determined my final class specialty in ME2.

Regardless, excellent class power reference.

If you're going for the "opposites attract" angle I'd say Earth Born in regards to pre-service history. Earth Born Shep is an orphan with a gritty upbringing in the underbelly of a smoke-choked, polluted megapolis. Couldn't be more different from Miranda's gilded-prison of an upbringing.

LOL if by drastic you mean "a different girl for every game" then yes. That's exactly what I'm doing. In 22 Bond films there's been 35 "Bond Girls". Miranda will end up being "just another Bond Girl" for my Shepard the way things are shaping.

I'm biased, of course, but I think Spacer/Ruthless is the best combination to start with, and its my canon Shepard's background(and yes, he romances Miranda). Strangely enough, I've chosen the one that is voted the least popular in every poll on the subject. I suppose that says something about me...

Anyway, I like the combination because, as you say, it has the two peas in a pod feel to it. Granted, if you knew my Shepard, you'd see just how little he and Miranda get along. At first, anyway. but what I like the most about the background is that it is the one with the least amount of inherent baggage. Yes, you have the 'Butcher of Torfan' moniker, but that's something the Ruthless/Shepard just has to accept. And coming from a very stable, if lonely childhood makes for a great Shepard.
Plus, I always have a scene in my head where my Shepard introduces Miranda to his mom. It's all and at the same time. Oh the day I get to write that scene....

It's funny, I have a James Shepard. He's the only Shepard I have played ME1 and ME2 with who has yet to take part in a romance. He's so focused, can't take time of for himself. I have a feeling he's gay, but I'm just not certain, yet. He may not be certain, either. I'm going to have a lot of fun with him in ME3.

Nonsense. Any man with the first name of James is a paragon of straight manliness by default. They sleep with at least 3 women a day. And they drink Martini's and drive Astons.

Well, I know that Hannah Shepard says something in an email to the effect of 'Cerberus is bad, but I trust you. Hope you know what you're doing, you're making us proud.'

I've always imagined that Shepard's father has passed away, but if you think he's around, this implies that they both support Shepard personally.

Better not get near any of my Sheps, then. I kind of use the game's background/service history to keep my Shepard's grounded. Otherwise they just turn too...not-Shepard. Of course in my main written story, my canon Shepard went through all the service histories, because he's just that good.

Spacer/Ruthless is meh. Spacer/Survivor is where it's at. And the default. LOL I customized my first Shepard in ME1 to be Earth/Survivor... turned out to be the default.

Heh my Sheps tend to be colonists either war heroes or sole survivors (I can't picture most of my sole survivors wanting to romance Miranda). The War Heroes...maybe but I don't romance her (I have like maybe 1 or two games where I romanced her but both were War Heroes I think).

Can't make a Ruthless background. Way too well ruthless for me. I had one but the mentions of it made me cringe and eventually I just made him a sole survivor.

Though I have to admit Colonist/Sole Survivor is just angst overload as far as I'm concerned. Makes Shep look like a tragedy magnet. (and despite this I love this mixture and it's my most used combo. ).

My canon Shepard, paragon to the brim, is actually Earthborn / Ruthless.

It sounds contradictory, but it's the background that most interested me, the shadow of Torfan will always haunt Samuel Shepard, but he won't let it get him down, he knows he can do better, and he will do better !
