Riiiiiiiight.

I would have liked a batarian squadmate, though.

To my understanding, batarian terrorists only emerged after the humans "took their place", am I missing something ?

Even then, you can't blame the citizens for the decisions of their government, in this case being The Hegemony, those guys are absolute pricks, if it hadn't been for them it would've been possible that the batarians might still be a council race.

Any speculations on what Miranda did during those missing 6 months? It's hard to fathom they'd lock Shepard up for 6 months...! My maleshepard didn't say he was going to turn himself in. He did the bottom choice.
Shepard would have tried to delay returning as much as possible.:)

I think a big part of the batarians hatred for the humans was because the council races wouldn't acknowledge some regions in space as only theirs *batarians* only.  The council said the humans could colonize any region... That's when they withdrawl from the citadel and began supporting terrorist acts against human colonies. :(

Batarians were agressive to other races long before humanity appeared. For example, they never stopped practicing slavery and even went so far as to annex an asari colony despite being under the rule of the Citadel
For some reason, the turians were unwilling or unable to deal with them. That's why when humans proved their worth against the turians, the Council was more than happy to use us to kick the batarians out. As Ashley would say, sic us on the bear.

I would like to hear the opinion of the average batarian. They can't be all the scum of the Galaxy.
Those batarians who were willing to play cards with Vega after "Arrival" come to mind.

Thou must point me to the source of all your knowledge good sir !

Not saying it's untrue, The Hegemony's actions speak loud and clear in the game alone !

Hence why we really needed that batarian squaddie, how could Bioware drop the ball on that one ?

Unless we are getting one as DLC.

Even though, quite frankly, a batarian squaddie is only appealing to long-time players, no newbie would think it would be cool to have an ugly four-eyed alien at his side.

Shepard first time in Omega...
- A batarian orders him to go and talk with Aria.
- A batarian wanted to start a fight with him.
- A batarian tried to poison him.
- A batarian was preaching against humans.

Yep, they are nice people.

A reported asked Shepard "What you think about the dead of 300,000 batarians?"

His response was "A good start."

The batarian entry on the Mass Effect: Wiki.
http://masseffect.wi...m/wiki/Batarian

Also, you can hear a batarian news reporter while walking around on Omega. Details like: "Slavery is an inextricable part of the batarian caste system" and that by forbidding it, the Council is limiting their cultural rights.

Kind of off topic now: Still no news with regards to Yvonne returning for the VO? I wish they would just confirm it so that I could sleep at night

No news. It was mentioned by Jessica Merizan (I believe it was) in one of the threads in general discussion that the VA list would not be released until sometime next year. So, there's probably no reason to be overly concerned prior to that.

I do think it's a bit odd that we haven't heard anything at all if Strahovski has been back in the studio, but they've been very quiet about Yvonne/Miranda from the beginning so something could theoretically be slated on the marketting schedule for later on.

I've never trusted the wiki that much, but it does bring some VERY interesting information on our four-eyed friends !

I frikkin love that guy  ! His news are so ridiculous that you can't help but laugh at the absurdity of the content !

I remember one that went something like "The colony of Freedom's Progress has been mysteriously abducted, demonstrating the inhability of the humans to defend their own colonies"  !

The Batarian news reporter reminded me of Morbo from Futurama. One thing I really want to do is to finally get revenge on Balak for trying to drop an asteroid on Terra Nova back in ME1.

I saw this post twenty minutes ago. Still not done chuckling. I don't think I'll ever walk through Omega's merchant district agian without going Image IPB. Excellent comparison, good Dr.Doctor!

I just hope that when we meet al-Jilani in ME3, Miranda will be there to b*tchslap her for slandering Shepard.

Miranda: Let this be a lesson to you. Don't you dare mess with me or MY man, you wh*re.

Shepard: *whimpering* Holy sh*t...

I got to say, I had the exact same reaction as Shepard when I read that. :D

Less punching more of this:

Shepard: So I take it that this will be a repeat of the Caleston Rift?

Miranda: I hope not, it took days to clean out the airlock after that.

Al-Jilani: W-what. You can't! This is a live feed!

Miranda: Miss Al-Jilani, if you take a look at your drone's telemetry we have been jamming your feed since this interview began.

Shepard: I recommend that you choose your next words with exceptional care.

Al-Jilani: I...I should go.

Miranda: A wise move.

Miranda might have a warm and loving side, but there's also the part of her that scares the ever-loving crap out of me.

Oh, it's OK as long as I'm not the target. But a row between Shepard and Miranda must be epic.

BTW, your signature is wrong: Cerberus was founded in 2157, not 2151.

Miranda: Miss al-Jilani, I understand that you have interviewed Commander Shepard recently.

al-Jilani: Yes, and what business is it of yours?

Miranda: Well, I'm Miranda Lawson, whom you implied to be Commander Shepard's 'kept woman'.

al-Jilani: Oh yes, you! Do you deny that you're involved in a sexual affair with Commander Shep-

Miranda: No, I won't deny it. However, your interview was...rather...insulting to both me and Commander Shepard, and I couldn't help but notice that it was extremely biased against us.

al-Jilani: Well-

Miranda: You see, I don't take kindly to slander and lies, and the last one who tried that against me was found in a small cargo crate floating about in space after being airlocked. Upon opening up the crate, authorities found her body in 26 pieces, and when reconstructed, she was determined to have died from massive internal hemorrhaging due to 50 different internal injuries. In addition to that, before she died, she had her nails ripped out, her genitals mutilated, her right eye pierced with a red hot poker-

al-Jilani: You-you can't do that to me! I have your confession on my camera drone! I-I'll have you arrested and executed!

Miranda *laughs*: Miss al-Jilani, if you were paying more attention, you would've noticed that your camera drone is no longer active thanks to a little EMP pulse. So yes, I can do all of that to you...*leans in closer to whisper in al-Jilani's ear*...and much, much more. And still get away with it

al-Jilani *gulps audibly*: Wh-wh-what do you want?

Miranda: It's elementary Miss al-Jilani. I want a public apology to both me and Commander Shepard, broadcast over every news network in the galaxy, about how sorry you are that you've slandered us both. Also, never harass Shepard ever again.

al-Jilani: This is madness! There is no-

Miranda: Remember what I can do to you-

al-Jilani *panicking*: Ok ok! Fine! I'll do as you say!

Miranda: Thank you Miss al-Jilani. Have a nice day! *waves gaily before turning around and walking off*

But an ugly two-eyed alien (Garrus) is OK? Then consider the Prothean, who might look like anything between that Cthulhu-esque tentacle head in Donovan Hock's vault and a Collector? No, ugliness is not a sufficient reason to not have a batarian team member.

Hmm...I wonder what Miranda thinks of batarians. I very much doubt she'd condemn them collectively as a species, even while thinking "distrust unless proven otherwise" is a reasonable attitude based on experience.

@JosephDucreux:
Really, you have no appreciation for subtlely. Alluding to things is so much more elegant. A bludgeoning approach like that.....

I have to say that  you met them on Omega. The batarian you met on Mordin's RM was nice enough to admit he was wrong about humans.

At the risk of derailing with a side topic, why are people so against the ruthless profile? Based on its description and what people on here are claiming they like in Miranda the ruthless path should at least be respected if not necessarily chosen.

I'm not against the Ruthless profile. But the Earthborn background which is my favorite origin already makes you Renegade-ish. Adding Ruthless is too one-sided. Also, killing batarians who have surrendered is something I don't want on the records of my main Shepards. Not unless I'm playing the Colonist background, where that's perfectly understandable.

Basically, it's one thing to do everything to get the job done (as Miranda would), but another to do more than that (which she wouldn't, as a rule).

Things we Know that are not as yet listed

Miranda is Sterile because of her genetic mods and has made at least some effort to reverse this.

Someone brought a Vorcha STD on board Normandy and it ***MIGHT*** have been miranda - her Shadow Broker Dossier listed her 'hooking up' with someone on Omega

Mirandas sister is a genetic duplicate - Possibly spare parts ?

Here's my version of the next Al-Jilani encounter:

Al-Jilani: Commander Shepard, do you have time for another interview?
Miranda (to Shepard): Is this the one?
Shepard (to Miranda): Yes.
Miranda (to Shepard): You said you'd let me handle this.
Shepard (to Miranda): Be my guest.
Al-Jilani: Miranda Lawson? There are rumors you're a high-ranking member of Cerberus....
Miranda: Then it should not surprise you that I have come across some interesting correspondence between you and....
*drone switches off*
Miranda: .....ah, I thought that would get your attention. Where was I? Yes, correspondence between you and Mr. Saracino. I've also found suspicious money transfers. Wouldn't it be interesting if that came to the attention of the competition? Say, Ms. Wong?
Al-Jilani: How did you....*checks herself*
Miranda: Oh...I know the Illusive Man personally.
Al-Jilani: Preposterous.
Miranda: I've also come across some interesting footage of you and an asari. What was the name.....yes, Thyssia. What would your friends of the Terra Firma party think of that?
Al-Jilani: How did you find that out?
Miranda: Oh....I know the Shadow Broker personally.
Al-Jilani: ...
Miranda: Yes, I know. Preposterous. Now what did you want to ask?
Al-Jilani: I...I should go.
