Not since I read the leak there isn't. Though Vega sounds very promising in that regard.

There are two common kinds of biotics:
(1) Natural biotics like the asari
(2) Accidental biotics like human biotics

Miranda can be neither, since
(a) She was born in 2150 and 2151 was the first eezo accident. Also the effects of eezo exposure were unknown then, so had it been an accidental exposure earlier than the known incident, Mr: Lawson would have discarded her.
(B) She cannot have been engineered for biotics because biotic were unknown when she was born.

Which brings me to the third, less common kind:

(3) Artificial biotics got their biotics through implantation of those eezo nodules which usually coalesce naturally on exposure or grow naturally in natural biotics.

Formerly restricted to the krogan, Miranda may have survived this procedure because of her enhanced healing abilities.

Any other theory presupposes that the effects of eezo exposure were known by someone back in 2149, which goes against the established timeline.

Well, sounds like a timeline hiccup, basically, but I do like the explanation you're providing.

The timeline is insulting anyway. From system-bound species to galactic power in 35 years. Don't get me started.

@jtav:
I understand. My main femShep has been celibate for two games, and it doesn't look like this will change any time soon. I'll have a look at Vega but I remain skeptical.

Which begs the question: just what kind of implants does Miranda have? I pegged her as an L3 retrofit for Portrait and Shadow War, but the game doesn't say.

Miranda's first implant had to be an experimental prototype. L1s were developed in 2163. Miranda was 13. And for good effect, implants must be applied before the onset of puberty. Such an experimental prototype could've been adapted from implants used by other species.
A retrofit is possible, but there's no way her first implant can have been of the regular line.

Yet another timeline f*ckup.... One does wonder why they didn't get such basic things right.

Since I don't feel like scrolling through 900+ pages of posts (proof that Miranda NEEDS to be in ME3) what would you all say would be the chances of having Miranda as an active member of your squad, or even a character that you could *ahem* visit, like liara in Shadow Broker?

P.S. I feel like Bioware's alienating PS3 users by not including like any ME2 characters as major squad mates, since PS3 users never got a chance to even play the first one, tho I'd still probably like ME2 much better.

Be fair, it's already hard enough working on the mythology and the timeline when you gotta deliver a script for the main story on a tight schedule.

Also, we're making assumptions based on an official timeline, when Mr. Lawson's contacts could've gotten him connected much more sooner with other biotic development projects, even the more clandestine ones like the one Kaidan was in, money talks in any galaxy.

I believge that her first implant wa custom made. I don't think that Mr. Lason would have risked his "first valuable" daughter with a generic implant like the L1 or L2 implant (kaidan is same age as Miranda and he has a L2).

Then when she jnined Cerberus, she could have some retrofit to change her implant for a L3 or L4 (or maybe some Cerberus prototypes).

I'd say the chances are slim.

I don't know how many PS2 players of ME2 there are, but I can tell you this sidelining of ME2 characters pisses off quite a few PC players as well. None of my three favorites is on the team.

All right. The developers' timeline posted on the wiki by Chris L'Etoile says that Shepard and Kaidan were implanted at age 16 and 17, respectively (And Shepard is a biotic, canonically). So the "before puberty" rule is probably just a loose guideline. Which would make it possible for Miranda to be implanted with an L2 in 2167 when she was 17, and maybe with an early experimental prototype a year or so before that, which would not be stretching the development timeline that much.

The surgery for implantation of eezo nodules is still necessary.

The whole ME2 thing confuses the hell out of me. Why would Bioware go through all the trouble of creating these characters and their story arcs if they're just going to get sidelined in ME3?

On the Miranda's biotics front, what is the state of nanotechnology in the ME universe? Theoretically nanites carrying a small payload of element zero could assemble nodules at targeted sites within the body at the atomic level. The age of implantation with Miranda is a little tricky to pin down. Doesn't her genetic tailoring make her age at a slower pace than a baseline human being?

What?! So, no matter if he was born on Earth, Mindoir or aboard a ship, Shepard's mother had contact with eezo while pregnant and a Soldier, Engineer or Infiltrator just chose not to develop his biotics?
That's stupid. I can't imagine Miranda not berating Shepard for limiting himself.

I'd dispute that it's canon, but only because I hold final, published works only to be canon. Design docs and devs comments are useful, but not binding.

Kaidan does mention Shepard having L3 implants even if you're playing a class with no biotics but I tought that was just a bug.

That would probably be out of jealousy. Limiting yourself and still able to accomplish so much? Yeah she'd hate that.

Yeah I don't remember hearing such a line as a Soldier Shepard.

Absolutely sure, yeah

As you can see, this Shepard is a soldier.

Partially, maybe but also because if Shepard used his biotics he would be even deadlier which would help humanity.
That would be a nice scene for ME3. Shepard gets the ever living crap beaten out of him by Kai Leng and then he asks Miranda to counsel him on the use of biotics before the rematch

Is Kai Leng a biotic ?

I can't see how exactly a racist chinese guy would be able to face someone who can throw krogans away like rag-dolls.
