My interest is actually metagame, rather than RP. It's possible I get a more desirable outcome if Miranda refrains from speaking with Oriana.

Perhaps Miranda will concentrate more on her cause than her personal issues, which would be nice from my my point of view. Not that I'd expect her to ever abandon Oriana, but focus too much on her and Miranda's state of mind becomes a little disturbing.CrutchCricket wrote...

Halfway through Horizon on my canon game. Miranda and Jack are my primary squad. I've been thinking a lot about the accusation that Miranda's romance is a fling. Would it really be so terrible if it were true? *dodges rotten produce* A woman having sex because it's fun and she likes it instead of because she's damaged. After turning down Jack's first offer, it makes me appreciate the playfulness of Miranda's scene, even if the context is creepy. I'm not saying her romance is a fling, just appreciating the lighthearted and the fact that the sex is not treated as a lifechanging moment (that occurred earlier with the "promise" scene.
I hope it's not just a fling. My Shep is looking for something a little more permanent. Luckily I won't be undertaking the canon run until after ME3 comes out.

The fact that Miranda's part in the mission happens the same way regardless of what she does with Oriana would seem to suggest that even from a metagame perspective the impact of the personal focus is negligible.
Well, even if there are different dialog choices, and if Miranda's motivations are described somewhat differently, that could be enough for a player to prefer one version over the other.

Game tells you just the opposite, particularly with Kasumi's "strange to see Miranda;s smiling when she's working." I'm just filled with renewed appreciation that the game lets her be sexually active without baggage and that the scene is [resented as normal, healthy, and fun instead of the defining moment of Miranda's life.
I think the scene was presented as that to simply exploit Miranda as a sexual character, it's better to see her getting dry-humped and with lingerie than seeing her making sweet love..............as far as fanboy-concern lays anyways !
But there is a degree of emotional investment to Miranda's romance, she wouldn't whine and ask you to promise her to survive the Suicide Mission if she didn't really care, she had developed feelings for Shepard.
This. The "It's a fling" theory is almost immediately debunked from those 2 examples.

If there was an option to RP the romance as a fling then I wouldn't mind. If it was the only option however I would be disappointed.

An interesting idea, but sorely disappointing if unavoidable.
This is just me, but I want my Shepard and Miranda to have a lasting, meaningful relationship, not just "Hit it n' quit it". And judging by Miranda's romance dialogue (And your replies), she wants it to last as well.
@jtav It couldn't have been easy

I just can't do it. If it has a positive outcome I'll replay. This feels as wrong as destroying the base. *reloads*

Nothing actually. The scene is completely silent after "Let's go." Music included.

1. Oh. That's fairly disappointing, and sad.
2. By "the base", what base are you talking about? I assume you mean the Collector base. How does that feel bad?

You can see it right at the beginning of this video. It's kind of funny in the context of the video (Shepard being a jerk).
