Unless of course if hitting her turns her on in the heat of the moment.

She DID choose the cold, hard engine room floor instead of the soft, warm bed, then says that she settles only for the best.

I kid, I  kid.

Well... If arching your back against cold steel and having your hair stand on end as you wrestle and bang your body against it, jolting a nerve pinching jolt up your spine...

I've said too much.

I'm sure when Miranda gets hit, she expects Shepard to kiss it where it hurts, and then of course to hit her somewhere else. :)

I just like smart, prickly people. Miranda is what Shep's supposed to be--the escapist character for my self-inserts. As a LI, I suspect I'm getting a completely different fantasy from most of you. Miranda's the dark, brooding character who is supremely self-loathing, but is fiercely protective of her loved ones. She will kill for them without a moment's hesitation and never ask for a thing in return. And you, by some miracle, have made the list of people she cares for. It's just as much a power trip as being the badass space marine.

I understand completely (or I think I do - correct me if I'm wrong). In my mind, Shepard admires and respects Miranda because of her achievements and her dedication (not *only* that, but it's a defining part). It's she who is the example, she who he looks up to and who drives him onward, and for a different reason than love at first. That she comes to love him later appears almost as a miracle to him.

If there's one thing we know about Miranda is that she's direct and decisive. I always got the impression the Jacob didn't/couldn't measure up to Miranda's expectations or requirements in one area or another. Besides, it was only hinted at being a "thing," not a relationship or some kind of love affair. But it does seem like Jacob wanted her more than she did. Which seems to be the case in a lot of relationships where one person is "too" ambitious or accomplished; one is held on a pedestal and another stares up at them.

Shepard surely does that as well as far as I'm concerned. The difference is that he doesn't stay there.

Is it strange that that's how I RP my Shepard?

I don't think it is strange at all Lemon . I also roleplay my Shep that way :) .

By the way, guys, I know this topic has already been discussed a lot of time here, but I was thinking about Miranda's infertility . I've been following this thread for a few months but I don't recall that idea being said .
The first time I read Miranda's Shadow Broker Dossier I immediatly compared her to Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid saga . Both were designed to have the best genetic code possible, to be perfect in various ways .
Nonetheless, they are sterile, they can't transmit they great genetic tailoring . It actually make sense, in case they fall into ennemy's hand or run away . What causes Miranda's infertility might be something her father implanted in her, which makes her sterile if she decides to run away from him . I can definitely see Mr Lawson doing such a inhumane thing toward his " investment " .
I was then, thinking about a solution to this problem which could lead to a great discussion between Miranda and Oriana .
Indeed, since Miranda took her sister away from their father, Oriana may not have been implanted with the same thing that renders Miranda unable to conceive children . Since they are the same genetically speaking of course, Miranda could get implanted one of Oriana's ovule, there would be no rejection ( no immune response ) from Miranda's body and it would still be HER child . Then it would be up to Shepard to do the rest .
This could give us a great scene, Miranda reluctant at first about "using" her sister, it would remind her of how her father treated her . Oriana could tell Miranda that after all she has done for her, she deserves it and that it is not problem whatsoever .
So what do you think of it ? :)

Miranda using Oriana to have a child? I doubt she'd do it.

She loves Oriana too much to ask her that, even if Oriana brings idea Miranda will refuse it, searching her own way to have a child.

I don't think Miranda's infertility is artificial. On the terminal it's a benign neoplasmic tumor, also known as cancer. What type of cancer, I'm not sure.

I think a miracle birth would be a cool idea, but difficult to implement without coming off as a contrived plot device.

Have to disagree here, though that's just speaking to my RPing. I play a Shepard that  "obfuscates stupidity'. Lets the scientists and startgestist speak in technical jagon whilst secretly understanding or at least picking up what's being said. It's that trait along with a knack for survival that's taken him from street urchin, to grunt, to officer.
Sure he admires and respects her, but he doesn't worship her. It's a sort mutalism on both parties where she lacks he fills the gap and vice-versa. And when he sees the smallest flaw in her plan (eg SM) he won't hestiate to speak his mind or go with his instinct rather than her strategy.

He doesn't let the fact that Miranda is exceptional daunt him because he himself is exceptional and he knows it. That allows him to approach and interact with her in a no bull****, hardboiled manner.

I do believe that she will stricly refuse that idea as well .
As for the problem of her infertility being natural or artificial, I don't know . I think it is most likely natural, but the artificial one would highlight more the manipulative behaviour of Henry Lawson  .
Let's see how Bioware will handle this, but for sure, they need to, since they put it in her dossier ; even though it is rather enigmatic and partial .

That's exactly how I view the relationship, I don't like the idea of just because someone has many achievements or whatnot, that the partner has to live up or be expected to portray a certain role. I'm talking from a friendship perspective though, so let's say that she was my LI, I would basically RP with the same mindset as your own because of what I just stated. Sure my Shepard doesn't know much about science or would seem to live up to her "expectations", but that's not the point. He thrives in different areas as her and has interests and motives in different fields and that's what would bring them together; two totally different worlds filling what the other is "missing" in a sense. I would never RP my Shepard into a relationship where it would seem he would need to be worshiped and vise-versa, I hate that. In the end, they're just both people with flaws and no amount of achievements will be able to cover those up.

Of all the relationships, I found Ashley's and Miranda's to be the best due to how natural and well-fleshed out the progression felt. Jack's romance was a bit off-putting (no offense spiros) mainly due to the fact that Jack needed a friend more than a lover, and I would've greatly preferred a friendship over a romantic relationship as Jack's still recovering from all her trauma

As for Tali's-I was just incredibly repulsed. I just was. And I used to like her in ME1. Liara's was mostly forgettable.

Best way I can explain my fanfic writing/RP is this. Shepard treats her as his valued XO, but can and will overrule her on things like Legion. Matt, though, adores her. That relationship is closer to knight and lady. Off-mission, what she says goes within reason. He'll fight for her, kill for her, die for her if necessary, as long as they aren't acting in their ME2 professional capacities. Of course, what he really wants to do is stop being "Shepard" altogether and go back to being "Matt" fulltime.

I like that, I wouldn't mind Shepard saying that in game, but then all the funny names and pronunciations, etc. After all, people have a hard time saying Spiros, so I can just imagine if they pulled that off wrong in game, lmao.

@Naledgeborn - Afrooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

@Joseph

It's cool, I'm actually hoping they work on Jack's friendship path for ME3 because I agree with her needing a friend because of what she's been through.

I think Miranda suddenly becmoing nuturuing and sentimental enough to want to be a "mommy" would be too far out of character to explain away. She's a very driven woman, one driven to causes much larger than herself. To become involved in such a personal thing that wouldn't yeild a big change wouldn't appeal to her in the slightest. In fact, there's only two female squadmate in ME2 that would willing seek out a child and that's Kelly and Tali. The other three are too obseesed with thier own selves, the greater game in the universe, or with a sense of duty that supersedes personal relationships.

Miranda having a baby? Not it coherence matters to a story's consistency.

Well, she canonically wants a child. You can have both kids and a satisfying career. I presume she was assigned to jobs that didn't have a high risk of being shot at the time.

Thar's from the Shadow Broker files, correct? If so, perhaps what you suggest could be true, but with some reservation. What she does at Cerberus isn't akin to being a CEO or an aggressive lawyer. She's literally acting as the head of an intelligence body that covers the entire galaxy. That's not to say that she's above seeking or even needing human affection, because she clearly does. But to want a child, motherhood, and a small family of her own would suggest that her work and those desires would not be on equal footing. As it stands her work with Shepard and Cerberus takes precedence over all other things. It may have been true at one time, but that isn't the case anymore.

Just think about Shepard and Jacob for a moment. In terms of integrity and character I'd say a paragon Shepard and Jacob are on equal footing. If it weren't for Shepards bombastic exploits and him impressing her through his determination to do what she would want to accomplish for herself, I don't her tone would be much different from your second conversation before Freedoms Progress. This is someone who needs important work in order to feel fulfilled in life, and being a parent pales in comparison to saving trillions of lives.

Until that child... "your" child is in your arms. It's a radical life changing experience I hear. If anything, having a child (not saying I support this sub-sub-plot) would instantly become her prime motivator.
