I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. They haven't explained anyone else's removal. While I haven't read Miranda's portion of the leak, I did read Jack's, and I only hope no other character got as poor a treatment as she got.

Because she wasn't in ME1 and she isn't a new character. That is why she isn't a squadmate.

And Miranda isn't the most famous character. Maybe Liara or Tali.

And I expected her to be one of the most important characters as a loyal, high-ranked Cerberus-member and Shepard's love interest standing between the lines... Better move out of here, before my expectations for this game get further down.

Okay, *deep breathe*  I can deal with Miranda not being   squad mate..

*pause*

Poor Treatment of Jack....Oh boy sounds like some one got of the Balls of bad Trope passed to them.

lets hopes this does not happen to Mira or anyone ... though in the end I will reserve my judgements till AFTER i play the game.

Hey friends I am trying to write a Shep/Miranda fan fic but having trouble figuring out the best back story. Since the audience will largely be the people reading this forum, maybe I'll ask you guys for input. What would you like to see a backstory of regarding these two variables:
Arrival mission: before or after? After basically makes them fugitives.
Collector base: keep or blow up?

I would encourage you to write what you want to write. Asking for suggestions isn't a bad thing but it's your story. Do what you want with it first and foremost.

That being said put me down for a blowing up the base vote.B) Might as well try and balance this. Setting-wise I'm indifferent.

If you haven't read the leak, then I wont spoil it for you, but lets just say her story was very out of touch with who she is as a character. After I read that, I couldn't read any other part of the leak.

This is starts to sound like a chain of poor explanations to remove ME2-only characters... just sayin'

I'm actually very satisfied with Jack's role, and it's something I've seen mentioned as a possible future for her on numerous occasions when I've lurked in her support thread. Miranda's role doesn't satisfy at present, but the end is completely missing as is at least one other absolutely critical scene. So, perhaps we should hold off the torches and pitchforks until we play the game?

Good idea :D but still, there are a few things which leave me cynical regarding the leak .

So I should stop sharpening the pitchfork? Is that what you're suggesting?

I read JAcks poriton, closely. I don't think it fits her at all, not her history, not her personality, not her influence from Shepard or the Suicide Mission. It felt really heavy handed to make her appeal to people who didn't like her the first time around.

Bioware's explanation (if they give one at all) will pretty much be that it didn't make sense to use valuable resources in making any ME2 characters squad mates if there was the possibility of them being dead. It would be wasted content on alot of gamers. The only exceptions, of course, are Garrus and Tali, but since they have been around since ME1 it was assumed, I suppose, that they would make it all the way through. I kind of feel like the suicide mission was poor planning on Bioware's part because they missed out on the chance of bringing back some of our favorite characters full-time in ME3. All I know is squad-mate or not, Miranda is going to be my cannon LI. If after playing through ME3, I feel unsatisfied, I might switch to Ash (if can can muster up the strength to say no to Miranda). But for now, Miranda all the way.

Agreed. Plus, the game's plot was centered about how stopping the Collectors was a Suicide Mission. And yet the SM was so easy that the ME have more certain deaths than ME2.

The concept of the Suicide Mission itself was a good in my opinion . Though it makes it very difficult for a sequel for the reasons Desispark enounced . BW shot themsleves in the foot ( I don't know if that expression makes sense in English >< ) by doing so, even them admited it .

They didn't shoot themselves in the foot. A lot of people are going to go out and get Mass Effect 3 regardless. However they did shoot the fan base in the foot. I feel like Conrad Verner right now.

I understand that the possible lack of content doesn't support every ME2 character. What I don't understand, is the point of ME2 then. Why do you set up a team with the best of the best, when most of them (so it seems) will be removed or terribly reduced in ME3?

Now it seems like I can set up the whole ME3-team, without ever reading the script.

Like you said, looks like a shot in their own foot from BW.

They should've included the LI's at least. There's almost a guarantee that the majority of playthroughs with an LI would keep them alive at least.

Of course Image IPB

I should probably comment more than I do, but I always enjoy reading the next installment.

Well, Mac Walters has pretty much already said that the SM was a huge headache that had them asking themselves, what we were thinking?

But the reality is that, back when ME2 was being made, they were probably mostly thinking about how to make ME2 unique and awesome. And it is pretty awesome. Would any of us be here if it weren't? The other reality is that they probably had a vague idea of how ME3 was going to play out and none of the ME2-specific characters were crucial to that. So, they could be treated as disposable.

None of that really justifies it, and I doubt fans of the ME2 cast are going to be as fond of the series, in the long run, as other fans. But it does probably explain it.

So in other words they  took the hardend on the outside bad ass biotic with emotional issues, a bad attitude(rightfully so)   and watered down her  because people could not deal with her attractive but non-conventional appearance ... I .E   having a  bald hair cut  and awesome tatoo's  and yet still have the nerve to complain about Fem Shepard  wearing lipstick, Ashely letting  her down and Miranda for liking the fact she looks good in heels...This would be the same based that complained at them  not being 'Hard' enough and yet complained about  Jack being to  non convetionally  attractive.

*thinks about the crictisms of  Miranda*

Oh dear lord... I'm reserving judgement but just in case while you sharpen the pitch  fork...imma make sure the tar is good and hot  with maxium adhesiveness,  feathers  ready, and making sure the torches are soaked  good and long in a Greek Fire to burn for a long time.

Still I'm reserving judgement to till game comes out, I play the game and come down from the top of mountain after playing  it.

Thankfully I have XIII-2  and Darksider 2 to play during the month of Feburary to keep my mind  off of this... The only thing to do is wait and see.
