That's the sucky part though, The whole point of ME2 was to make sure your crew survives because they were vital to success in ME3. I'm going to give BW the benefit of the doubt for now and assume they'll do her justice.

Well, I think that is actually going to be somewhat accurate in that the SM survivors will provide "war assets" that you will not be able to get otherwise and that will help you get better/best endings.

MP sounds like it is built to compensate a bit, so that you can still get at least a very good ending, even with a decimated squad, but having deaths on the SM will definitely lock you out of certain things.

It's just that, well, "war assets" is a gamey piece of nonsense that nobody really cares about Image IPB

So, it's sort of... true and not true?

Anyway, I've digested the whole thing already, so I won't even be upset in March, regardless.

I will be utterly and completely relentless, though, if that is called for.

War Assets... right.

Import Bonus, Check
Surviving Characters, Check
Side Questing, Check
Multiplayer, Check

So now I have an overflow of War Assets. Is that supposed to make me feel better about the 20 minutes of screen time Miranda's getting?

Why would youi want more screentime for miranda (or any m2 character) when you can watch and talk all the day with liar, garrus and tali?

I don't think they would handle a character of her importance like that. She is basically the face of Mass Effect 2 and so it seems, the most common love interest.

I already think it is foolish to cut off her role in ME3 from that point, pissing off a lot of people... but I also think BW is aware of that and will provide something more than a poor 20-minute on-screen moment.

Let's be honest here. This is a western rpg, and it's not Bethesda, so we're looking at roughly the same length of ME2 (approximately 20hours). The majority of that time is taken up by the reapers, and the undoubted loyalty mission from the permanent crew (Ashley, Kaidan, Liara, Garrus, Tali, Vega, and the two secret squad members) which totals to eight. The ME2 members with ties to official races that aren't on the team already (Mordin, Legion, Wrex) all have important roles in influencing governments to assist Shepard.

How much time does that leave us for Jack, Miranda, Samara, Thane, Kasumi, Jacob? I think twenty minutes to half an hour is what we can expect. From what other people wrote, Miranda's portion is personal and short compared to the other characters.

Crap, this is a lot harder writing this fan fic than I thought, that is trying to bridge keeping the collector base with Arrival with Miranda eventually leaving Cerberus and Cerberus out to get Shepard. It's so much easier with blowing up the base for everything to fit together. Wish me luck. Or feel free to PM me ideas.

I'm sorry but when I hear "war asset" all I can think of is this:

Normandy Cargo Hold

Shepard: What it it?

Miranda: This is the key to defeating the Reapers. Months of research and development has finally yielded a weapon that can help us retake Earth. It's a shame that we can't turn it on though.

Shepard: What do you mean we can't turn it on?

Miranda: The engineers in the R&D department decided that it should be powered by those knick-knacks those "Welcome to the Normandy" gift bags that we gave to the squad when they joined the Omega-4 mission.

Shepard: So let me get this straight, I need to go hunt down our old squadmembers so we can get the power source for this thing?

Miranda: Pretty much.

Two of those can be killed in ME2, and the latter I'm counting on getting killed in ME3 (I'm calling it right now). The only one of those three that is remotely interesting is Garrus. The other two can burn for all I care.

I think the Bioware's stats put the average ME2 playthrough at around 30 hours. They have said ME3 will likely be about the same. Anyway, the returning characters who are not on the squad will all have very limited screentime.

The RM/LM dynamic is no longer in place, though. Basically the "war assets" concept is what has replaced it. The more recruitment and loyalty missions you did in ME2, the better the outcome, with the "war assets" basically having that same type of cumulative effect at the endgame of ME3.

Well, that's probably a bit of an exaggeration, but maybe not that much, tbh. Naledgborn's 20 minute figure is probably closer to what it would be in the leaked script, depending on how much she is around during her mission (that last point is not clear in the script). Her part in the script is also unfinished, but it's hard to speculate about how it would be finished and whether or not that will include her actually being around for any additional significant period of time. I honestly don't know.

But, unless she joins up after her mission, which I would rate as extremely unlikely, I'd say that 30-45 min of screentime will be about the maximum that there could realistically be (that's assuming an additional mission than is in the script, which is generous).

I don't understand why Bioware doesn't give information about the ME2's characters.

Because they know it's only going to ****** their respective fanbases off. So they focus on the "positive" and try to forget ME2 ever happened.

Maybe if people made more Rule 34 pictures with Jack, Mirandas and Mordin, this would be less of an issue.

Well, considering that the characters (from ME2) can die in ME 2's Suicide Mission, that may be a reason for the restricted airtime for some of those characters. Otherwise, if that character is dead, the "new" or player who lost that crew member will lose a huge chunk of game play/story line unless that character can be replaced by another character to fulfill that part of the game which would cost money for new/more voice-acting, ect, ect.. Not that I agree with the screen/air time being so small, but I understand to an extent. =( Doesn't mean I like it though.

If Miranda's gonna get a redesign in ME3, what do you think they'll redesign?

We're trying to keep as much of the game's story details as unspoiled as possible.

If I had to guess? Just her clothes, maybe her hair, but that might be due to a tech upgrade rather than an all around redesign. I can't see much reason to wear a Cerberus pvc suit when she resigned.

I would like that her clothes will redesign like a sexy and sophisticated dress.
