Nope, just subjective and opinions. Some people even find Miranda ugly, other prefer Ashley. There is no truth.

Well, also, while it is understandable that everyone has a preference, that type of comment always comes across as antagonistic. So, it's better to just stay away from it, and focus on the positive side for whatever character it is that happens to be a personal favorite.

OO

Are you serious ? How is it antagonistic ? The comment is totally neutral. It just shows that some people think otherwise.

No, the comment you were responding to. I was adding an additional thought to your post. Hence, the "Well, also..."

Conceptually the character is fyne as hell (it's in her back story lol), but remember people pixels are pixels.

Video games haven't utilized pixels since the PS1/N64 days.

At least, they don't utilize pixels in full model sculpting.

Flemm: Maybe you're pointing in the right direction. Ashley got "mirandafied" somehow. On the other hand, Miri and Ash are pretty much the same type of woman: tall, dark haired, beautiful, deadly.
Besides that, they're different like day and night.

MisterJB wrote...

We can argue and argue wheter or not Ashley looks like Miranda and we will go nowhere. The crux of the matter is this: Ashley's redesign was meant to give her sex appeal, it even says so in the preview of the ME3 Art Book that was made available.
In ME2, Miranda was the conventionally attractive female Love Interest. And in ME3, that role has been filled by Ashley.
The first time we saw Ashley's new look, we should have known better than to hold on to hope.

The funny point about this statement is: why giving Ashley something she already had? I think she was sexy & fine in ME1. I don't think open hair and a "catsuit" make her sexier than before. On the other hand I believe if Miranda gets a redesign, she definitely should become less of a "visible" sex symbol than a true deadly woman she originally was intended to be. Did I mention I like Miri and want her back on the "permanent squaddie list" in ME3? The banter between her and Ashley could be epic. ;)

The "Mirandafication" of Ashley is less about her actual looks and more about her role in the game. But no, people on BSN insist on taking everything outta context so they can white-knight for their Shepard's love interest.

Calm down and get some fresh air people.

Well, that's true, but the original comments were just about the look.

Plenty of people did, I know, but MisterJB is undoubtedly still correct about the motivations for the redesign. Again, it's not really subtle at all. But also they seem to have dialed it back a bit.

While I agree, I'll say that her letting her hair down did improve her image, at least to me. I think she looks far better just having her hair loose than how she used to have it.

And that's fine. But it's not the popular opinion. I've seen more people than I care to count calling ME1-2 Ashley "ugly" and "butch" and rejoicing over her redesign while claiming that they now feel guilty for having romanced Miranda which was clearly what Bioware intended.

It seems fairly clear that Miranda was always the "temptation" romance, the femme fatale that lures our hero from his true love. Now that Ash is back, she gets everything Miranda had. Fortunately, Miranda also gets a good romance.

Some people will be the way they are. Some people like Ashley, some people like Miranda, some people like aliens, some people like humans. Not worth getting worked up about something as cosmetic as a romance option.

Now if people were arguing about her role (or lack thereof) in the game then I'd approve. But looks, why bother? The character knows she's gorgeous and doesn't hide it. No need to get offended when someone else thinks otherwise.

Nah. I don't think so ... at least in my eyes Miranda deserves more justice here. She's more than just a "distraction" to get Shepard away from Ash or Liara. Just keep in mind a lot of guys started playing the series with ME2 and not ME1.

Miranda is a fair competitor to ME1!LI - and I don't see any issues here if Shepard accepts Ashley's reaction on Horizon and moves on. It's not "cheating on Ashley / Liara / Kaidan" if you pick a new LI in ME2 and stay loyal to her in ME3. I just fear BW won't see it that way. :(

For some guys those "cosmetic" romance options are an important feature in the series. They give a reason for Shepard to fight for something. ^_^

Well, the romance stuff for Miranda in the leaked script seems really good, actually. Better than ME2, much more emotional. Like the rest of Miranda's role in the script, it's not finished. But it's promising.

I'll admit, I did this. As in, I romanced Ash in ME1 (Yes, I like Ash, she's a good character and LI), but then I took an arrow--- died. Shepard died. I sorta figured that was a relationship ender and romanced Miranda starting in my 3rd ME2 playthrough. Then I went to Horizon to find Ash talking to me like she wanted me to die again.

Regardless, I'm sticking with Miranda. She's so much more interesting to me than Ash is. Horizon didn't really help. I just can't believe that romances in ME2 (If you started one in ME1) are considered cheating.
