Am I reading this right, or did you say we could invite the ME2 characters to the Normandy? I assume that's what you meant.
In that case, if it's their for everyone else, but not her, then it's likely not finished, or wasn't in the leak.
Sorry, that was vague. Basically, like when you met Wrex on Tuchanka in ME2, or Tali early on in ME2, you can ask them to join up, and they give some reason why they can't.
That's basically how it works in the script when you meet a returning squad member who is not going to join up in ME3.
With Miranda, she sort of comes and goes a few times. So, that bit of dialog isn't there. I think it probably will be in the final version, though, at whatever point.

Ah, ok then.
Still, even after Miranda has finished whatever business she may have in ME3, and she has no reason NOT to go to the Normandy, why doesn't she? It seems fairly odd and somewhat counter productive, but that's just me speaking.

I've got an idea for a fanfic. Anyone want to hear about it? All this talk of Casablanca went to my head.

Well, as it stands, there is a point where it seems Miranda should logically join up because there isn't a good reason for her not to do so. But the invitation isn't there, and it's clear that she isn't intended to join up. So, I think that will end up being adjusted somehow.
I don't know... It's gradually gelled in my mind, I think, what the writers (or at least Miranda's writer) is trying to do with her story in ME3, and I think I might be better served to just shut up and let that person do her/his job.
And then write a thank you note
Not that I am actually going to shut up. That was rhetorical

And hopefully, it'll be like Wrex where she's doing something so obviously important that asking her comes across as insulting.

I'd like to hear it.

What is it that you think they're doing?

After LOTSB, Miranda goes to work for Liara to ensure Oriana's safety. Shepard, Liara's ex, does her thing. Miranda and Liara fall in love. When the Reapers hit, they trash the SB ship and Liara goes to fight at Shepard's side because she's needed there. Oriana dies in the ensuing chaos. Miranda is devastated and uses money from her dead father to form a human enclave in the still-safe world of Ilium. A year later, Shep and Liara show up, looking for something that could hold the key to defeating the Reapers. Miranda has it, and is both bitter and skeptical Shepard can save the galaxy.

Well, there's a certain amount of guesswork involved... And there's certainly no way to be sure how it will go at this point. So, I think jtav's right that we shouldn't really talk about it outside of the spoiler group. But anyway, I think I see now how this all could come together and be really good, potentially.

flemm, I;d suggest making a "Miranda's ultimate fate" topic so those interested can read our speculation very quickly.
Hmmm, not a bad idea, though I think I can sum up it up pretty easily in a non-spoilery way. Basically, having digested the whole thing a bit, it seems like the writer is trying to create a situation where Miranda has her own separate "hero's journey" that intersects with the main story and what Shepard is doing at key moments... Basically this involves Miranda confronting her demons and emerging as a stronger person because of it, so that she can accomplish...
Whatever it is she is going to accomplish
That last part is missing, and that is basically what has bugged us from the start regarding the leak, but I'm increasingly tempted to believe it will be there... in some form... and probably be Cerberus-related. So, anyway, it could really be awesome, I think, if done right.
As a romance, it would be especially cool, as you would basically be taking that journey together.

We can't really know, and we know it's not finished. What I'm saying is more that I feel like the way the whole leak happened may have initially made it hard for us to see the potential of this to be really good.

The missing conclusion is really starting to make me paranoid.
Well, it did the same to me initially, but I think we may not have been giving the writers enough credit. Basically, one of the maddening things about the leaked info is that it just sort of stops... But, again, with a little more distance, I think we can be confident it won't end that way.
This is where the big grain of salt comes in, there could be changes that took the whole thing in another direction entirely.

Indeed. The leaked stuff was not complete. And most of the romance arcs were not done yet (they were added lately but the spoiler stuff could be far older).
I hope for a nice conclusion for Miranda too - even if not romanced. I still hope I can make her to a friend then.

Yeah.
Aside from the paranoia, I don't really have many doubts about it possibly being great.
I've just learned to lower my standards as low as possible until things release. At least then by the time it hits and it is bad, I won't be NEARLY as disappointed.
I guess I'm just a pessimist when it comes to things we haven't heard of to things I enjoy, and the very real possibility that they can flunk the entire thing.
