He refers to the Miranda spoiler group in which we discuss about the informations we have from the leak related to her .
Just like you desispark I am now quite optimistic about Miranda ( maybe too optimistic, I know )  . Everytime I read the few dialogues about the romance I can't help myself smiling .

Basically, I think I get it now, as far as what the writer is trying to do with the story and what it is supposed to mean for the character. Enough that I'm looking forward to seeing what the final version looks like.

Am I reading this right, or did you say we could invite the ME2 characters to the Normandy? I assume that's what you meant.

In that case, if it's their for everyone else, but not her, then it's likely not finished, or wasn't in the leak.

Sorry, that was vague. Basically, like when you met Wrex on Tuchanka in ME2, or Tali early on in ME2, you can ask them to join up, and they give some reason why they can't.

That's basically how it works in the script when you meet a returning squad member who is not going to join up in ME3.

With Miranda, she sort of comes and goes a few times. So, that bit of dialog isn't there. I think it probably will be in the final version, though, at whatever point.

Whenevr you talk about something relating to the script, you make me a little more unwilling to keep my preorder....

I hope this rushjob on ME3 is becuase Bioware's eager to get to work on Jade Empire 2.

Well, that "Will you join me?/No, sorry, I have to do X" dynamic is a function of there being so many returning squad members who can't join up. I don't believe there will be any remedy for that, unfortunately.

The only time it was overwritten in Mass Effect was by initiating LOTSB. Still was a huge tease when I saw Wrex and though he would fill in the slot to filled in by Legion.

The missing conclusion is really starting to make me paranoid.

Well, it did the same to me initially, but I think we may not have been giving the writers enough credit. Basically, one of the maddening things about the leaked info is that it just sort of stops... But, again, with a little more distance, I think we can be confident it won't end that way.

This is where the big grain of salt comes in, there could be changes that took the whole thing in another direction entirely.

Bioware's writers are competent enough I guess though sometimes I oscillate between thinking we give them too little or too much credit. Anyway, the big question is do they want to tell a Miranda story we want to see? And is the little space available for her - as opposed to, say, in ME2 - enough to convey it in a satisfactory manner, or must something be thrown away we would consider a key aspect?

Things are unchanged from mid-November. There is potential for greatness. Whether we will see it.... we'll know in three months.

Two months actually and I'm trying to get all my saves ready to go. Which reminds me, I have an unloyal Miranda that I'm not sure what to do with. Would you prefer I report back what happens if she's dead or what happens if she's unloyal (and I know what the leak says)

Two months Ieldra ! Everyday counts from now on .:D
As you said we will see that in time . I'm hopeful, BW's writers know what we want I give them that much credit . Moreover in the leak I think there are relatively quite a lot of scenes with Miranda, more than other characters, means she may be somewhat priviledged in terms of screen-time, had more to be worked on .

Well, suit yourself, it's not the scenario I'm most interested in, obviously, but it would be good to find out the details on that.

Re: Bioware's writers, well, certain things we can probably count on, like the story being completed. Completed in a way that we like? Not so much... but the game can only really pleasantly surprise me at this point, I've already digested all the bad scenarios.

Nah, I just meant in general, nothing specific from the leak Image IPB

I meant that I've digested all the ways this could be finished that I wouldn't like at all. Not to say that I won't complain about it a lot if they happen, but they won't surprise me.

Oh Ok, thanks for pointing that out .
I'm think that I may be eventually disappointed about a few things, they can't make everyone fully happy right ? but overall I think there's much more place for good surprises than bad ones .

Well, I have to admit that much of my optimism comes from how disastrous things looked after the initial leak. I still have concerns, but things aren't half so bad as I used to think they would be.

I haven't had the change to read the first leak, though from your reaction about it, I guess it was pretty bad . Miranda was emprisonned, presented as a victim, if I remember correctly . It couldn't be worse .

Basically, yeah. While it was clear at the time that that particular document was just a rough outline, it didn't really put us in the best mindset for looking at the larger leaked script, when that started making the rounds.

Anyway, it's possible that what we end up getting turns out to be roughly what we thought we would/should get all along, in terms of the main story beats. But... that would still be pretty good.

Maybe her writer didn't at first catched Miranda's personnality completely and then corrected it after . Miranda doesn't get caught

I'm not sure what was going on with the initial draft. You could hardly get something more displeasing to the fans if you tried. And now she doesn't seem to be a damsel in distress, or at least it's not very noticeable in the leak if she is.

Maybe Image IPB

But also, at the stage of that earlier document, it's probably just a general sketch to establish where the levels are, what the main plot points are going to be, etc. A lot of characters weren't even mentioned, due seemingly to their involvement not falling along the main plot.

Whoever Miranda's writer turned out to be, that person may not have even been assigned to write her character yet at that point.

Admittedly, it's still hard to tell, from the later and more detailed document, how exactly that part of the story is going to work.

I don't think she would be a damsel in distress as you said . When I meet her on Sanctuary, I want something badass . Something like seeing her taking care of a few guards then Shepard saying " Kept you waiting uh ? " - " No you are just in time " :D

Well we do have the barest of hints that Miranda does something impressive before she meets up with Shepard on her mission. That's more than we had before.

The kind of thing you describe there at the end of your post is the type of thing fans had described repeatedly, sometimes in great detail, as the scenario they would want to see, as opposed to a situation where Miranda was helpless.

Which in turn basically explains why the initial leak was so irritating... the only real piece of information in the document was exactly what nobody wanted to see.

It's impossible to be sure, but, as jtav indicated, in the longer leaked script, it seems like the most fleshed out version is actually much more like what fans have asked for, almost identical really, with dialog not written by us ;-)

So... two more months of uncertainty, I guess lol? Image IPB
