And black widow has a custom armor. A gift from Tony Stark...

off-topic: Anyone played MUA, and selected Deadpool to speak with black widow

BW: Hello Deadpool.
Deadpool: Black Widow, are those real?
BW: What?!
DP: You teeth!. They are all so white and shinning.

Edit for top of the page:
We needed to see this mona lisa smile.

Anybody have a passing familiarity with 90s animated Spider-Man? That version of Felicia reminds me of Miranda.

Yes. It was hilarious.

I think Deadpool is clinically retarded.

But let's get back to Miranda.

F**K you BSN, not taking pictures.

Familiarity? I grew up on it. Don't know if that makes me young or old.

I just read that the femme fatale trope is a male creation that stems from misogyny. Uh oh. I never thought very hard about it. What say the Miwi thread?

(Not that Miranda really exhibits any femme fatale tendencies. I feel like that side to her character never really survived beyond the conceptual.)

At least you're not me, I still have VHS tapes.

OF THAT SAME SHOW.

And yes, Felicia is somewhat reminiscent of Miranda.

Well, another character that reminds me Miranda are: Eva (MGS3), Sniper Wolf (MGS), Ada Wong (RE Series), Juno Eclipse (SWTFU).

My thoughts?

So what?

BioWare hasn't admitted (At least not openly) that they hate women or anything, so it's OK with me.

I think Jill Valentine does it a tad better than Ada.

I grew up watching 90s Spider Man, too. I remember liking Felicia Hardy, but I can't readily draw any parallels between her and Miranda. What reminds you, jtav?

Well, Miranda herself is "by men, for men" in a very obvious way. I just feel compelled to poach her back.

On Claudia Black, does anyone see a similarity between Sam Byrne in Gears of War 3 (Whom Black voiced), and Miranda?

Here's a picture of Sam, for those who've never seen-

Well, also, that's part of her story: she was made by a man, for a man; but her goal is to escape that, and to save her sister from it.

So, I've always found that interesting.

I also think it's possible that this extra dimension of the character was intentionally conceived with precisely that reason in mind.

Basically, step one was the sexy Cerberus ice queen. Probably Walters, Hudson and others were responsable for that, that's the "critical path" and original concept.

I think Weekes wrote the non-critical stuff, so the LM I presume, and that's where you start hearing about her father and sister. So, I think it's entirely possible that he looked at what had been done to that point, saw where the emphasis was, and decided to make that the character's backstory in the game.

It's clever, and a bit cerebral... But this is the guy whose self-insert is Mordin, so I don't think it's much of a stretch.

In essence, I think we could say Miranda's backstory is a commentary on the process by which the character was created in the first place.

It's just interesting to ponder the brains behind character design. What drives the design of a beautiful-but-deadly female, a master of manipulation willing to use any and all means necessary to get what she wants? It's not necessarily an intentional malice towards women. It could be ingrained, subconscious. Or maybe it's something else entirely. I don't know. I've never really thought about it before.

I like the detail on the hair, but that's about it.

Nothing against the artist, but that doesn't look good at all.

@ the 2nd Miranda image

Her left side cheek looks odd, and her nose looks a little too bulbous.

It's interesting.

One other thing I think is worth pointing out is that the meaning of tropes can change over time.

For example, the femme fatale trope may have originally been related to the mysogynistic idea that women are the source/root of all evil and temptation, etc. But, I don't think it necessarily has to stay that way. For one thing, it seems like that's probably related to hang-ups about sex and the evil of a certain type of sexuality that we don't really have to share anymore. Along the same lines, the idea of a ruthless, sexy female who uses any means to get what she wants can have positive connotations that it might not have previously had.

Something completely different:

If you had to choose cure Joker's Vrolik Syndrome or Miranda's infertility

what you would you choose?

PS: Lets assume that Miranda's infertility can't be cured by the 22th century medical marvels
